It has come to my attention that the business practices of this company may not meet the ethical standards expected in the industry. This company is atrocious, the owner is so rude and foul. They have serious Allegations to defend, exploiting small businesses like Drainbusters who were called out by these charlatans to unblock a drain, we unblocked there drain and then they started to accuse us of all kinds of false accusations, because they think £297 plus vat for 1 hours work including 2 engineers, a fully equipped van and with the latest technology, was to much. Calling a company up to unblock your drain, and then wanting their services free is deeply troubling. Has anybody else fallen victim to this OWNER?

Drunk and disorderly

The company I work for used Drain Busters for a simple job and here is how it turned out.

The doorbell rang and I answered the door to a chap who said he was here to look at the drains, I asked him to wait a moment whilst I fetched the company owner to clarify this and to walk him through what they needed doing, he immediately stopped me and demanded to know who was paying. I again said to the gentleman to hold on whilst I grabbed the company owner and that they would be responsible for this. Unprofessional but forgivable.

I continued with my day whilst having brief interactions with the gentleman in question, in which it became apparent that he was intoxicated due to his aggressive and inappropriate behavior and smelling alcohol on him whilst standing a short distance from him. Whilst I was trying to get on with my own work, I heard him demanding to one of the owners family friends that he 'needed to use the fu***** toilet now' whilst the family friend politely said he would have to wait for the owner to show him where the loo was when he had finished whatever he was doing. Me, wanting to save the friend from the lovely conversation, went through and collected the gentleman to show him where the loo was.

Whilst walking through the hallway and the gentleman being overall aggressive and obnoxious towards me, we walked past a female colleague of mine who the gentleman took a shine to. Looking her up and down, head to toe he proceeded to attempt to 'flirt' with her, making her feel objectified and uncomfortable. She proceeded to show zero interest yet the gentleman he is, continued anyway.

After using the loo, he continued his attempts with the female colleague in question and after a short while decided he should probably go outside and continue doing what he was actually here to do, a job. I checked with my colleague to make sure she was ok, which she was not, so I decided to have a word with the gentleman myself.

I found the gentleman slumped against the wall by the front door, I told him that he has just made our staff feel extremely uncomfortable and that he should concentrate on doing the job he is paid to do rather than objectifying women. He, to his credit, attempted to apologise however I was not really interested due to his unprofessional manner from the start and especially as the closer he got to my face, the more I could smell alcohol on his breath so I just asked him to get on with his work. Over £300 later for a simple fix and a job not so well done, drain busters were on their merry way.

The company owner proceeded to call drain busters and notify them as to what had happened, the person who they spoke to came across understanding and helpful and promised a full refund, however here we are nearly three weeks and multiple phone calls later with no refund, extremely dissatisfied customers and employees who come to work to earn a wage feeling belittled and uncomfortable.

Rob & Martin were absolutely superb. They visited within an hour or two after my call and within one hour, they solved the issue, cleared up the area and the corridor and left the place in great condition. Highly highly recommended!!

I recently hired Drain Busters to clear…

I recently hired Drain Busters to clear my downpipe gutter, and it was an absolute disaster from start to finish. They arrived three weeks ago and managed to get their drill stuck in the ground, resulting in them having to dig up a meter square of tarmac around the down block. Not only did they leave a gaping hole in my driveway, but they also left the entire area in a mess. To add insult to injury, they charged me a whopping £280 for their shoddy work.

But the nightmare didn't end there. The day after, they texted me with an outrageous quote ranging from £2,500 to £8,000 to complete the job. As if that wasn't bad enough, they offered to fill the hole for free in the short term until I could afford to fix it. However, it's been three weeks, and they've made no effort to follow through on their promise.

Despite my repeated requests for them to come and tidy up the mess they made, their response was utterly unacceptable. They claimed they could only come when they were in the area because traveling too far wasn't worth their while. As a so-called professional company, Drain Busters should understand that we have three young children and leaving our property in such a state is completely unacceptable.

Their constant complaints about losing money on the job and blaming me for the downpipe being broken only added insult to injury. It's clear that Drain Busters is not a company that cares about its customers or the quality of its work. I urge anyone considering their services to steer clear and find a more reputable company.

The invoice issued to you reflects only the unblocking service, and it explicitly does not include any additional quotes or future work commitments. We can prove this, as it’s very transparent.

Regarding the quotes ranging from £2,500 to £8,000 that you mentioned, these were communicated directly to you via text messages from the engineer. These communications were made independently of our company procedures, as the engineer was responding to your request for a non-disclosed cash transaction. This kind of conduct is against our company policy and is regarded as a serious breach, equating to an attempt to defraud the company—a criminal offense, which we intend to immediately report.

It has come to our attention that all subsequent interactions about the issue were directed to the engineer and not through our official communication channels/office, which has led to significant misunderstandings and mismanagement of the situation. At no point were these communications reported back to our customer service team or management, hence the company was unaware of your ongoing concerns regarding the site condition.

Afraid the service wasn’t as good as…

Afraid the service wasn’t as good as expected. The first crew came back three times and the second visit included a chemical flush. However a week on and it was clear the blockage was not cleared as flushing the toilet caused the Bath to gurgle and water to rise into the bath. Called again and Martin and Rob turned up a few hours later. They did a really diligent job and fully appreciated that having spent £1600 we should have got a better service. Many thanks to Martin and Rob.

Speedy, Thorough Resolution of Blocked External Drain

I had been let down by another company not fixing an issue. They told me I needed a tanker!! (expensive!) This did not ring true, so I booked Drain Busters for a second opinion. They arrived in about 2 hours. Two men, one hour and water jets fixed a very backed up, blocked external drain. Steve and Zak (Epsom area) were professional, knowledgable and friendly. They also took off shoes when entering the house and left everything clean outside. I would not hesitate to use them again. Thank you!

Had a quote and told they could get…

Had a quote and told they could get here in 90 minutes so thought it was great. They did get here very quickly but When they got here however they told me the quote would be doubled as it was per engineer and 2 were required, even though they did not tell me this on the phone. They did unblock my toilet but told me I had roots in the pipes that needed replacing or potentially the pipes would collapse and it’d be very costly which would cost in excess of £1,000. Due to the cost I said no as we couldn’t currently afford that and lucky I did as we had a second opinion when the toilet blocked again and they told us and even showed us the footage and no roots in sight at all, it was simply due to toilet paper sticking to the u bend blocking up. As a woman who was home alone with her baby I feel like they were trying to take advantage of me. Yes, they did refund me the second engineer cost and very quickly at that however I’ve emailed asking for further information whether they are regulated twice now and heard nothing. I’m concerned how much I would have spent on unnecessary works had I full trusted what they told me.

Blocked kitchen sinks

Obviously having a blockage in a pipe/drain which cannot be sorted with usual home methods, it is a little bit of a lottery as to whom (unless you have a recommendation) to call. I called Drain Busters, the call was answered in good time, and outlined the rates which i agreed. a couple of hours later, Rob and Martin turned up, they were very efficient, and managed to sort the blockage within 30 minutes, and gave us good advice about possible issues with the way our pipework had been installed by the previous owners.

I have nothing negative to report. Thank you Drain Busters.

Save yourself the time and book someone else

Save yourself a lot of time and hassle by just booking someone (anyone) else! I made an appointment for an engineer to visit for a blocked toilet on Wednesday. Booking was made for Friday as per my request as not an emergency. So far so good and I was told 9.30am Friday. By 11 on Friday, nobody had come so I called. “So sorry, the engineer has had to finish off a couple of bits on a previous job, he’ll be with you soon and call when he’s on his way…” and still nothing. 4pm the office called to say the engineer has had van troubles and won’t be coming but he will be with us 10am Saturday. Ok, these things happen - could have been communicated better but hey ho.

So, having waited in all of yesterday, this morning we were ready for him to come at 10 but…. Nothing. Tried calling the office numerous times, no answer. Nothing all day again.

I called a few other companies and one, Drain Doctors, answered. He was there within 2 hours, fixed the problem fully and for a fair price and was absolutely charming throughout.

Having wasted 2 days waiting for these jokers, I’d advise you not to. Drain Busters are best avoided.

So expensive and didn't fix it

Really nice guys, but ask for a quote or price up front. When they were already in the house and pressure was on to resolve the blockage, you feel obligated to pay the £45+VAT per person per half hour price, despite one of them generally not doing much at any given time. In addition, there was a hire charge of about £60+VAT per half hour of the kit which confused me because I wasn't hiring equipment, they were just using their tools to complete a job. They tried to unblock the drains but couldn't, so after £350 I still had a blocked drain. The landlord called Dyno-Rod out and they fixed the issue for £145. I genuinely don't think the guys were bad or rogue, they tried their best, just the prices were ridiculously expensive and I wouldn't ever consider using them again.

This is why we ensured you were informed of our charges not only during our initial phone conversation but also upon our engineers' arrival on-site. Before commencing any work, we also require a legally binding agreement to be signed by our customers, confirming acceptance of our rates. This process is designed to ensure there are no surprises when it comes to billing, allowing customers the freedom to decline our services if they wish.

We pride ourselves on offering a competitive emergency call-out service, which includes the expertise of our two-man teams and the use of fully equipped vans that house the latest technology. Such resources are vital for delivering the high-quality service we promise but do indeed reflect in our pricing. As a legitimate business, we face substantial operational costs, including significant daily investments in marketing to reach those in need of our services.

Regarding the issue with your toilet, it was during the course of our work that we discovered the lack of access, a critical factor in our inability to complete the job as expected. Upon realizing this, and based on your status as a tenant, we ceased operations at your request to allow you the opportunity to consult with your landlord for further actions.

We genuinely aim to resolve any issues our customers face and regret that we couldn’t meet your expectations on this occasion. Our customer service team remains at your disposal to discuss any further assistance or clarifications you might need.

The service offered was excellent

The service offered was excellent, they arrived on time, diagnosed the drain issue and came back the next morning out of our store hours to resolve the problem, to any inconvenience to our business.

The best drainage engineers by miles!

We own several rental properties and have experience of working with a number of similar drainage companies. Without doubt, our experience with Drain Busters has been on a completely different level.
This time, we had what turned out to be a very complex issue with the drains at our property, resulting in a substantial project to resolve our problem. The two engineers working on the project, Robbie and Ian, were both outstanding. They had to adapt the plans several times as the project developed due to problems that could not have been foreseen. They kept us fully informed at every step and even though the conditions they were working under were extremely tough, we still managed to all have a laugh along the way! In my view, both engineers went above and beyond what could have been expected, working under some terrible conditions and even dealing with the Water Board on our behalf on several evenings after they finished work.
On the face of it, drainage issues are not cheap to resolve, but having experience of working with other companies and understanding all the unseen costs of equipment, travel time etc, Drain Busters are fairly priced.
I hope we never have drainage issues again, but if we do, I will be calling Drain Busters.

Install Eco Channels For Rain Water

Discovered roof rain pipe leading to soak-a-way outside house didn't actually have a soak-a-way(!?!), so damp coming into living room wall. Had Eco Channels along length of front garden and through garden wall fitted so rain could flow into pavement guttering. Due to bad weather, had to have engineers out for three days with no complaints and an agreed fixed price for the work. Really happy with solution they suggested and Steve seemed genuinely keen to ensure his work would sort out the issue we were having. Definitely restored my faith in builders after cowboys took me for a ride with a garage roof a couple of years ago.

Great if you have a serious issue and know where it ia...

They where great for me as I contacted a couple of other guys and told them everything I tried myself to fix the bad smell in the garden, from opening the manhole and hosing everything clean I also tried going down and pushing it deep... and they all told me the same thing, I will need someone with a high pressure washer or something but they recommend to send a camera down there and check exactly what the problem is... the other guys told me very similar rates and told me straight away it will not be cheap with the camera service the labour and everything so I found this one who said almost the same rates and everything but the camera check is free, now looking at the negative reviews after the fact they were spot on in my garden, two guys came in I told them where not to step and they kept it alright, told me hosing the manhole actually helped the camera, anyway after everything it was a big crack on the side, it was about 560 in total to insert a new sleeve and everything to fix it, it was as I expected and exactly what I've heard from everyone even if it was only a few hours work, for people who are outraged about the prices, its like everything, if you make their life easier they will make yours too... I'm happy with it

Great workmanship

After I called the office the lads turned up within half an hour. My drains were overflowing my garden and they sorted it within 45 minuits. Excellent service.

Messy driveway

Woke up to find the manhole on my drive way was leaking the unmentionable this was very concerning as I have three dogs and don't want them to get sick.one call to drain busters and 45 minutes later the guys arrived, punctual smart and friendly they unblocked and also cleaned all the residue leaving my driveway looking great again! Very pleased with this service ! Great stuff guys
