Very efficient service so far . Informative survey has taken place by Jonathan Hancock

I want to write a comprehensive review that breaks down my experience with this company to warn people away from it.

I first responded to an advertisement on Hive's website that put me in touch with Effective Home. At first, the experience was great.

03/02 - Response to advert
13/02 - Survey carried out by Ian, who, after a very promising survey, provided my quote
23/02 - Agreed to go ahead and sign my contract and £500 Deposit paid
27/02 - First engagement with Sahil to design my solar, and repeatedly asked me to raise a review here. More on that later.
09/03 - first chaser sent after hearing nothing, with promises of chasing from Ian.
24/03 - was told installs were arranging this ASAP, but continuously chasing,
16/04 - was messaged on WhatsApp (that well-known business tool) by Luke and called multiple times from his personal number. To ask for an install date
Also, 16/04 - I had asked my bank to recall my deposit, after 2 months of waiting with no contact and unkept promises.
It wasn't until recently that I received my deposit back from the company via the bank.

Let's talk about some things:
At the survey, I was promised an install in 2-3 weeks

Sahil repeatedly asked me for a review after doing very little, frankly, why? Well, because it will mean the company's review score looks better than it actually is. There has to be rules in place for preventing this, surely?

The use of personal numbers to contact someone asking for £4000, and frankly, rudeness and terrible customer service from Luke, who, a few weeks later, called me again to offer me a second install. Absolute no urgency to return my money, and no incentive to resolve the problem. The excuses that were given were that they moved locations, well, I shouldn't have been promised 2-3 weeks then! Ian, on the other hand, vanished when I chased him multiple times.

I have had a real lucky escape with this company, and glad I pulled out. Please be careful when seeing the benefits Solar can bring. I was lucky to have my money back and that I didn't go ahead with the purchase and forever be unable to contact anyone about any future issues.

Go to another company that will walk you through every step of the process.

My 3 year solar panel inverter failed in Feb 2026. Trying to phone Effective Home is impossible. average wait time is 20 minutes. they directed me to the manufacturer Sunsynk who's said it was not their problem so back to Effective Home. they wanted £250 to just visit to diagnose a known fault with the data logger. the 120 year warranty with Sunsynk is worthless as they will NOT send out and engineer to check out the data pc board I have to pay for the inverter to be deinstalled and sent to them so they can check it out on a known problem that requires either the removal of a capacitor yes that's right you have to cut the component off the PC board!!! Both companies are absolutely useless and unresponsive.

I'm very happy with the solar installation. 15 panels, Powerwall 3 and PW3 expansion. The installation team were great and post-install support has been good. On the downside, I had to wait 6 months from order to install and found it very difficult to get hold of anybody to speak to about it. I suspect my order got lost in their system. Anyway, now it's installed I'm happy.

Big thank you to Jonathan Hancock, for an effortless and enjoyable technical survey inspection. Despite the extreme heat ‘in my attic’ Jonathon emerged and carried out a professional expedient survey, kept me informed all the way about possible options and way forward. Also advised on some future protection lagging benefits. Kept me informed that he would arrive earlier than expected and overall was a thoroughly decent chap. Looking forward to the installation now. A damage issue to ridge tiles, caused by the scaffold company, was speedily resolved. This was no easy task as matching tiles was very difficult to source!

However, the excellent Dean Edward’s rose to the challenge and provided an excellent solution. Dean is a first class chap and a real ambassador foe Effective Homes - thank you 😁👍

Great customer support from Luke Townshend after agreeing to the quote and answering all questions surprisingly quickly. Christine who on quoted us was also really helpful. The system has been working for 2 weeks now with no issues.

I recently had my solar PV system installed, and the entire process was incredibly smooth. I want to give a massive shoutout to my Compliance administrators—Djuka, Kira, and Becky. Their communication was excellent, they kept me updated at every stage, and they made handling the complex paperwork completely stress-free. It is rare to find such a dedicated support team. Highly recommend Effective Home, and a massive thank you to Djuka, Kira, and Becky for their fantastic help!

Overall very good experience

Solar installed a little over two years ago - watch these guys closely! Reasonable pricing and installation, some difficulties: Sales and Installation teams had differing opinions on where the inverter for a solar system should be located and it was hard to decide if it was a lazy electrician (not wanting to put in the loft) or an incompetent sales survey (unsatisfactory location); The installation team were not the tidiest, leaving copper roof hooks across the garden; Panel performance exceeds the survey (yay!) but actual export meter readings are consistently lower than the inverter app so the breakeven point on the app is false; Last point to note is the cabling was poorly laid across the roof with wire loops fashioned from DC cable slipped lightly under the slate tiles rather than securely clipped or routed through a loft space, and upon discovery its come to light the longer guarantee only apply to the panel performance, and workmanship is only two years, so I must to source an electrician to ascend a ladder to reclip properly (or pay their £250 call out fee plus any work).
