I usually have contractors that don't advise me or help me with my options but Martin helped me to know what was best for my particular case which I appreciated . I'm truly happy with the result

I really didn’t want to have to write this review as it started off so well and Martin was prompt at giving me the quote on time and prep work seems to a high standard,
The issue seemed to have set in when the painting started and he brought another painter with him by the name of Micheal.
The work started to get sloppy and Paint was on my brand-new carpet in a room that wasn’t actually being painted, This was water-based so it was easily removed, However by the time the job was nearly completed I established on the same carpet gloss paint had been put on there whilst carrying out the works. I get accidents happen so this wasn’t my issue, My issue was the response that “it’s no big deal and I should brush it the other way and then you can’t see it”.
The works Continue to get worse at this point as there were clear areas on the woodwork that were missed and there was a shadow on the walls where the roller hadn’t gone up as high as it needed to. The paint on the woodwork is now chipping off multiple places which is something I’ve never encountered when discussing this with Martin he told me this wasn’t his issue it was the paint or was because of the paint used previously another Decorator. Which I’ll add was over 4 years ago now.
I’m extremely disappointed as the outcome has not only cost me additional money as I now need to look for another painter but there are damages to my flooring, carpet and I’ve had to throw away two dustpan and brushes due to them being used and having paint all over them.
Martin has refunded me for the hallway and the stairs but not for the additional bathroom toilet and living room that I’d paid him for they all equally have paint chipping off already.

I would have like for there to be a better Solution instead of calling me fussy for mistakes made on his behalf, I was told by Martine he could see the points I was making but still decided he was not going to rectify the issue.

All-round a very stressful and unnecessary experience safe to say I will not be recommending.

Reply: The comments added via Martin are not correct and in fact full blown lies and once again I’m truly disappointed with outcome please look at Google review to see photos of the poor works to validate my review. At no point was I ok with the works and NO FULL REFUND WAS ISSUED. I never asked for a discount I asked for a quote and works to be carried out. The works cost £1300 and you refunded me £530 for one area which still doesn’t suffice the damages that you made. In relation to my kitchen this is pure nonsense and laughable.
I have actually toned down the review and left out the part where I was verbally abused and shouted out while my 14 year old was in the house when I challenged why you have gone back on rectifying the works. Again I have proof of this.

You agreed to fix the areas that I was unhappy with and Acknowledged that these were not done to the standard that you’d promised but when arriving on the date which was Wednesday, the 2nd of October you had a completely different attitude and refused to repair the paint peeling on the woodwork.

Again it’s laughable when you state that you repainted my living room without additional charge when I have never known any painter to paint a wall and leave border of the Wall with brush lines, is it usual practice to Paint with gloss paint a door with the handle still attached? I did yes explained, I was changing the handles but painting while there on is not normal practice, you also removed the mechanisms from upstairs and threw them in the bin without my consent. The whole job was inconsistent and hasn’t made a lot of sense on your part.

Your continuous lack of professionalism by not being accountable for works that I have evidence of is shocking and shows you are not a company that should be trusted.
So disappointing and even more upsetting after the reply.

Martin did an outstanding job for a really reasonable price. He was reliable, professional, hard-working and just a nice person to be around.

We cannot tell you how impressed we were with the speed and efficiency that they worked with hardly a break. They have done a fantastic job and we are most pleased:
Outside of house
Cleaned and painted all tiles, lead flashings, damp course, brickwork and pebbledash; rubbed down and stained porch surround and all window and door frames (front and back) and cleaned facias.

Martin was excellent, very responsive with the quote and start date. Great on the communication all the way through. Martin and his team were quick to start the job and finished efficiently and to a high standard. Would highly recommend and wouldn't hesitate to use his services again.

Elms Contractor undertook a complete redecoration (interior and exterior) of a 5 bed house. Martin was very responsive and communication was efficient - particularly as I was overseas until most of the work had been done. Phil was on site, his work was to a high standard and he too was easy to communicate with. We found an unexpected problem which I was worried would cause significant delay but Phil was able to bring in a contractor straight away to keep things moving. I would use Elms Contractor again.

Repair and paint damaged ceiling. Paint staircase ceiling and walls/doors.

Excellent service, work completed to very high standard. Martin was courteous, tidy and hardworking. Will have no hesitation in using his company again.

Martin went above and beyond and did a brilliant job for me recently. It was so nice to finally deal with a contractor who accepts smaller jobs and his attention to detail was fantastic. I look forward to working with Martin and team for phase 2 for more painting and flooring soon!

Martin is a skilled labourer who takes great pride in his work. I'm super pleased with the work he has completed for me, paint work looks fresh and very neat.

Recently decorated my flat and I am impressed with the work. Great attention to detail. Could tell they genuinely love the job they do from the outcome of their work.
Would definitely highly recommend.

Great quality of work. Had them replaster And fully paint my bedroom. Would highly recommend and have already booked them in for more work.
