Absolutely Brilliant Night With a Master Craftsman and his Band!…
I just want to say my Daughter and I finally went to see Sir Elton John on 6th June 2023 at the Leeds Arena. It was our 2019 Christmas present from my son. My Daughter explained the tickets were very expensive but I have to say boy they were worth it so thank you to my son.
On the way in we bought a pair of glasses which had flashing lights and I bought a programme to keep. Yes they were expensive but I expected them to be. It was a special occasion!
He did not have a supporting act, it was him, his piano, plus his band of the most excellent musicians who have played alongside him for many years playing for well over 2 hours virtually non stop. You pay to see him and his band - you definitely get what it says on the tin.
They all put their heart and soul into performing and playing each song on their set list, all played brilliantly. Not only that they all absolutely enjoyed themselves playing for the Leeds audience crammed into the jammed full arena.
Above all they are not miming, everything is played and sung properly (unlike some artists I have seen) - near the end when Elton had walked from the piano to wander around greeting his fans then went back to continue the song he forgot which verse or the words so the band played around a couple of bars until he picked up / remembered the words - it was so brilliant plus proved it was all played live.
The lighting, the collage of films, cartoons plus live camera shots of Elton and his band all added to a magical walk through Eltons massive catalogue of songs and music.
Whilst waiting for the master craftsman and his band to start the show the arena screens showed various bits of information including Elton wanting everybody to get up and dance and express themselves (safely), plus take photos and videos then tag him in intagram ect. That is the first time I have ever seen a show where the star actually encourages people to take programme and videos.
The absolutely excellent musicians in the band created a brilliant "driving rhythmn" when the songs demanded it which, unless there was something totally wrong with you, you could not help but move to, it was absolutely ace!
He naturally had the whole crowd singing, screaming and roaring for more.
Whoever goes to Elton John and his band in the next few weeks will certainly have a night to remember for all the right reasons- it was absolutely brilliant!!
