Avoid!!

Had a burst pipe at 10pm at night and my apartment was flooding. Contacted this company which wanted £195 upfront before they sent anyone. When he arrived he said it was going to cost just short of £1000 for apparent parts and labour.
The parts are approx £10-£20. After a phone call to his manager he dropped the price to £495. Hmmmm very suspicious. I would advise anyone who needs an out of hour emergency plumber Not to use this company. It’s obvious they take advantage of vulnerable people.

Complete cowboys and extortionists

They charge a HUGE call out fee, then a ridiculous amount to "fix" the problem, but dont actually fix anything.

They also demand payment before they leave, which is rather distressing. My tenant paid this, and was messaging me throughout the night to let me know about the burst pipe in the kitchen. (Unfortunately, I was asleep at the time and only saw her messages in the morning.)

Throughout the “fix” she sent me a running commentary which started around 250 am and finished around 420 am. She paid in full £760 and sent me the invoices to reimburse her, which I promptly did.

As I thought the £210 call out AND £550 for work carried out was ridiculously expensive, especially when you consider, it wasn’t fixed and she had no working sink, I asked the company for an itemised breakdown. The initial invoice had stated “sink repair” and was for £550, whereas the next invoice with the breakdown stated “cap off water” and was for a lower amount of “£200”.

I asked for a refund for the difference £350 and after almost a week of hearing nothing I chased them.

Apparently, they made a mistake and would not be refunding the difference that I requested. I told them that this is extortion and that my husband is a contractor himself and we know quite a few Plumbers who agree that what they have done was ridiculous.

By the way, I should mention that the only work that needed to immediately be done was turning an isolation valve under the tap!! Yes, the hose to the sink needed to be changed, but he didn’t do that, nor reseal the sink which he took out or fix the drainage pipes.

I was informed by my tenant that the 247 Plumber had informed her that the stopcock wouldnt move (it did, it was just stiff, WD40 and a spanner did it). He said the isolation valve was broken - it wasnt, it was stiff - we have them at home and they turned and sealed, when we used a screwdriver on them. Oh, and apparently he said we needed a new tap - no we didnt.

In short, what the 247 Plumber actually did was cut a pipe (unnecessarily) and put a 50p bung end on!! That does not warrant £550 for work undertaken!!

The subsequent Plumber we used has said that the tap is fine and confirmed that the stopcock did work and was just stiff.

PS
The Numpty at 247 who responded to my emails has challenged us to try a chargeback - which we will. Along with reporting them to Trading Standards.

Please find the review from James - one star, who had the misfortune of working for them for a short while. He explains their working ethic quite well.

Im somewhat sceptical about any positive review for this firm, based on what we have experienced.

Take heed. DO NOT USE THIS FIRM.

Worked for this company for one week was given a list of prices that they charge and thought this isn’t right for example to change a cold tank ball valve they want to charge £550. So a ball valve cost maximum £25 and to replace will take less than an hours work. This is on top of the £175 call out fee. Just absolute day light robbery as a plumber myself I felt so wrong and ashamed to even work for these guys.
The funny thing is they said to try the £550 first and if it doesn’t work they can give a discount up to 40% like they literally know that they are scamming people. TO ANY ONE THAT NEEDS HELP AND EVIDENCE PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS REVIEW.

Terrible over priced service

I phoned and was told the call out was £175. I felt this was pricey but agreed as I was desperate to get the leak stopped. they were very prompt and although they didn't fix the problem they did manage to isolate the water flow and stop the water by turning a screw
. I was then charged a further £300. Absolute daylight robbery. As I still have to get the problem itself fixed.

If I could give a 0 star or minus star rating I would for this company.
Was charged for call out fee for a leak which was fine then the 2 jokers that came out claimed they had replaced and fixed ballcock valve in my loft tank. When I went in loft the next day it was still the same pipes, valves and ballcock as I previously had. They hadn't repaired anything and charged me to fix nothing. Turns out my leak was due to my roof which I have had fixed since.
I own a debt recovery company so I am now starting legal proceedings against them as they have ignored all messages and emails. Heads up to anyone reading this review DO NOT USE these cowboys. 24/7 plumbing isn't even registered on Companies House and they are more than likely using Emporium Living Limited as a trade name (registered at same address as Emergency 24/7 Plumbing) to hide away from all their dodgy dealings.

Disastrous

Disastrous. Do not use this company. They charged us £725 for 3+ hours attempt to repair a faulty valve on our toilet. They left a hole in the toilet cistern and the outflow hose had been dislodged. They eventually turned off the water supply to the cistern to prevent further issues until our own plumber could fix the issue. They could have turned off the water supply to the cistern on arrival and saved us 3 hour plus of exorbitant rates for incompetent work. In trying to communicate with the company to retrieve the fee (as they advertise No Fix No Fee) they did not put a name on a single email. They also suggested in an email that the hole they had left in the cistern may have been caused by ourselves or by our own plumber subsequent to their visit. I have had some bad customer experiences in my life. This company however is the worst of all.

Very good job from a very helpful firm

Excellent service from an extremely courteous telephone operator and the chap who came to do my job was quick, hard working and very pleasant. He travelled a long way to attend but no complaint or edge at all. Thoroughly professional and hard working. My sincere thanks for your excellent service. Job entirely to my satisfaction.

Awful experience AVOID at all costs

Awful experience. Sent a plumber who ignored all the symptoms we informed him of because he found a tiny leak in the bath seal. Insisted we turned back on the water which ultimately led to a further flood in the apartment below, but in the meantime tried hard selling us a bath seal for £350 which is sold from a shopify site they operate under the name Gorillaseal.... (absolutely nothing to do with the Gorilla brand) which is basically plastic you can buy in 2.5m lengths from B&Q stuck down with silicone...and then walked away from the job leaving water leaking into the downstairs apartment. Upon complaining I was basically told because I didn't accept the seal needed installing then they wouldn't entertain a claim. Worst trade experience I have ever had, and I suspect they are praying on people with little knowledge, in distressed situations with overpriced rubbish. I have reported this to trading standards.

Your feedback is completely baseless. Our plumber has video evidence as to where the leak was coming from and you also didn’t want him to take up the tiles to check further, from where you supposedly thought the leak was coming from. So can’t win with a customer like you i guess. You neither wanted to accept a leak was coming from somewhere, and neither wanted the plumber to check from where you thought it was. You just wasn’t happy to pay the plumber as you thought you could fix this yourself once we found the solution.
