This review relates to the purchase and attempt to use a top of the range Sennheiser/EPOS SDW 5066 wireless binaural headset system. Purchased in May 2019 for £253.
TLDR: EPOS software, hardware and firmware is faulty and buggy: do yourself a favour and buy Jabra or Polycom and save yourself a world of pain.
This is the sorry tale of spending 3 and a half years trying to get my expensive headset to work correctly, and failing. It's a long tale, so buckle up for the ride.
It relates to support tickets: 239227,70931,122158, 234090, 234970, 239226, 250399
Problems in summary:
Software
- Bluetooth connection failures.
- Headset connection failures.
- Software bugs (having to kill software processes to quit on Mac version, cannot change settings from drop-down lists, update failures, cannot change sidetone (voice feedback) setting, missing sidetone setting in Mac software, save functionality not working correctly.
Hardware
- Sidetone (voice feedback) insufficient. Hardware replaced under warranty.
- Connection problems. Hardware replaced (again) under warranty.
Some of the above listed problems have been fixed by hardware replacement or firmware/software updates. However, not all problems have been resolved and some updates introduce new issues.
The new 'EPOS Connect' software is particularly bad, and is much worse than the old version, particularly on a Mac. Sometimes I try to quit the software but the menu is missing. Also permanently missing is the 'sidetone' slider. This has never been ported to the Mac platform.
The biggest persistent issue has been very low sidetone, which means that I have to slide the closed-back headphones off one ear to hear my own voice loud enough to stop me having to raise my voice to hear myself whist on calls. This function is fundamental to a closed-back headset.
Since the hardware replacement, the sidetone level has increased to a more acceptable level. However, after a few days the sidetone level is lost. Since the sidetone function does not exist on the Mac version, I have to connect the headset to an old Windows PC that I keep just for this very purpose. I set the sidetone to 100%, connect it back to my Mac and it's working again. 3 days later and it's lost again: rinse and repeat this nightmare procedure.
I have had many interactions with lots of support people at Sennheiser and EPOS. Since EPOS took over the division, support has become much worse.
The last reply that I got from support stated:
"Hello Darren,
Unfortunately, we were unable to replicate the issue in our labs.
Please be advised that at this time I have no solution for this issue, even after confirming with our product experts and management as well.
I do apologize for any inconvenience this may have cause. However, I can assure you the issue is not a hardware nor software issue cause by EPOS Audio."
Well I can tell you, EPOS, that this problem is most definitely your rubbish headset. During lockdown, I bought my two children used Jabra headsets from eBay for £20 each. Those headsets have functioned flawlessly from day one, and have none of the issues listed above. I now use one daily and my EPOS headset gathers dust. I diligently and tirelessly documented all the issues that I had with the EPOS headset, in the hope that one day it would work as advertised: it never has. I included concise details of the issues with videos and pictures where necessary. I wish I hadn't wasted all that time.
I bought a Sennheiser device due to using some of their traditional mics and headphones, which are excellent. They must have sighed with relief when they realised the system was never going to work properly and offloaded it to EPOS, who have proved themselves to be incompetent in getting the system to work. Whoever wrote the software, for the Mac platform particularly, should be shot for creating this abominable software.
Do yourself a favour and avoid EPOS and go elsewhere, life is too short for this kind of nonsense.

Rapport qalité/prix des casques audio excellent. Satisfait de mon achat( modèle H3 noir). Petit prix, qualité sonore plutôt bonne et qualité des matériaux également.

Device has connection issues. i.m asking epos support for a driver set to reconnect the headset whitout rebooting the pc.
EPOS gaming suit says i.m connected but ive no sound or mic.
this is going on for a month they only asking me questions true automated lists and not helping or even responding on my questions.
1 product not working
2 their support not working
3 support cases are not working
4 no options to speak to someone

I did later succeed pairing the head phones again. However, the messages you receive in the phones are very confusing.
Initial response was like this:
Stay away from their crap headphones. Impossible to pair again, once the first pairing is done.

Lösung: Austausch des Headsets
Fazit: Hätte etwas schneller ablaufen können aber nun doch ein zufriedenstellendesErgebnis

Bad experience with CSC and H3pro hybrid does not work great in bluetooth+dongle, the feature why this headset is so expensive.
Really disappointed because it could be great with better support and no software issue for a 280€ headset. It was so great if the headset didnt had this issue 😭
Had to pay shipping fee for return, legal but very cheap move from the company, if they didnt ask to pay the return for a defective product i would not put this review.
EDIT : I had to contact epos for a return issue everyting was perfect, if they had no return fee i would probably order again (After xhecking that the BT issue IS solved)

Genau 2 Monate nach der Garantie defekt. Das ist schon das 2. Mal Ich sage nur geplante Obsoleszenz. Für Sennheiser bzw. EPOS ein schlechtes Aushängeschild. Von dieser Firma würde ich abstand halten.
I had a GSP350 headset that I had for a year and half, unfortunately the microphone began to fail.
I contacted them and after providing the serial number, and the photographic evidence that the headset was not damage, the replacement was done immediately.
The headset is no longer made/stocked so they replaced the item with a newer model and a sound card to reach the specs of the originally purchased product.
The headsets are awesome, great sound and crystal clear mic. Highly recommend.
The support is absolutely horrible and the software is bad.
I find it very weird how senheiser wants their name anywhere near these guys.
I bought the b20 microphone just to find out the software only works if you use it as primary output device. I asked them about this and got an answer equivalent to "hello, you're wrong, have a nice day".
I'm now trying to return the product, but that is hard as hell too.
Don't buy anything from these guys
As someone else has said already, don't try to return anything back to EPOS.
Cost me ~£17 postage to return back to EPOS in Germany from UK, and even though I informed EPOS that the headphones were being held by customs waiting for EPOS to collect, they didn't, so the headphones came back to me.
Won't bother trying again, unless EPOS just refund me without returning (unlikely).
UPDATE:
Well F me running, fair play to EPOS, they have sent me a full refund despite the headphones being back in my possession. Re-rated my review based on this gesture.
tried to return faulty items for refund they cost £12 to ship back , just received them back as unclaimed after shipping to the stated returns address
so am now the out of pocket for the items and shipping
Purchased Sennheiser Headset online, the microphone is faulty. I have contacted EPOS three times now to return these for a refund and have heard nothing. It has been over a week.
