Farmfoods, a Scottish family business, has served Great Britain for over 60 years. From a butcher shop in Aberdeen we have grown to more than 300 stores and four distribution centres nationwide. We work hard to bring you the best value on the food your family enjoys and on the household essentials your family needs. In addition to frozen food we sell groceries, chilled foods, bread, milk, fresh fruit and vegetables along with a range of household items. Across our ranges you will find the brands you know and trust at prices you will love. Our specialism is frozen food and we believe passionately that frozen food is the best solution for most family meals. Our exclusive label chicken, beef, turkey, lamb, pork, fish and vegetables are all as fresh as the day they were frozen and because there is almost zero waste, great value too. We are a family business and our owners work in and lead our business every day. We think, particularly in today’s corporate world, this is a real strength. We are a diverse team of around 4,000 people who share a passion for getting a great job done. Whether they work in a distribution centre, a retail shop or an office, Farmfoods people are trusted to take responsibility for their work and to have control of delivering a great value, simple and friendly operation.

You need to train your staff to say hello, please and thank you! Just been to Chester branch and a young girl on till with long hair didn't even look at me. She said nothing apart from barking £10.48 to me. No eye contact, please, or thank you, the basic manners anybody should have let along someone serving the public! She also looked so miserable. Poor service Farmfoods.

I went into store. Dead man on FLOOR. Please remove dead man from store. I wanted chicken not rotten flesh. This is not minecraft. I will be sure to tell my dead grandpa that Farmfoods is not the place to pop your clogs. I deeply apologise for my grandfathers passing. I will make sure to teach him a lesson in purgatory. Will you please start selling gravlax. I travelled over to the dairy section and the door had been left open. Milk was on the floor and there was greek natural yoghurt on the wall! Your workers deserve to get a pay fall. They asked me to get out the store when I asked for AA batteries. They said 'this ain't cosco pal' and walked off. I will never shop here again. Farmfoods is for losers and people with no street credibility. Farmfoods should be shut down.
Slug infested potatoes!!!!!!!!
I don't usually buy fresh fruit and veg from my local farmfoods as the quality is usually sketchy but we needed some that day to make shepherd's pie. When I opened the bag there were loads of little black slugs all over them.... needless to say they went straight in the bin and we had something else for tea.. put me right off potatoes for the forseeable future....

The deals are usually ok, but the service at the Canterbury branch can be quite bad. Some employees are attentive and helpful while others have poor attitudes and are very snarky at the tills. Prefer to go to Iceland, where the customer service is generally quite better.

UPDATE
I have read Julian's response below and really it does nothing to address the concerns that I raised. Stating that your are going to raise them with the Area Manager just means your are fobbing me off as there will be no follow up.
In light of Julian's response and taking into consideration the points that I have raised, which have not been addressed, appear to be a common pattern in these reviews, I feel it's better to write to Eric Herd setting out my complaint.
Also, I will be writing to Paynes Dairies to ascertain why the milk they provide for Farmfoods has such a short life span.
___ ____ ___
I have three areas to raise in this concerns.
Firstly, I would be very interested to know exactly where Farmfoods obtains its milk from. Whilst I fully appreciate that Farmfoods sells a number of products with short shelf lives, I am rather concerned about the shelf life of its milk. As part of my fitness routine, I use milk instead of water in my protein shake which means I can get through quite a bit of milk each week. So when I saw that you can buy three 2L bottles for £3, I thought that would be ideal. However, the shelf life date is so short by the time I get to the third bottle, its usually out of date and gone off. I went in on Friday and the staff were stacking the fridge with milk but each bottle had a shelf life of 6 days. All major supermarkets brands have at least 14 days. I recall speaking to a member of staff about it a while ago and they had said that they would never by milk from the store - which begs the question, where does it come from ? Is it excess milk that other retailers no longer want?
Secondly, I receive the promotional leaflet via email with the latest offers but when you go to the Wood Green store, which is the nearest to me, they tend not to have half of the products available. When I raised it with customer services over the phone, they advised me to call up in advance and they would be able to tell me whether the items were in store before going there. What's the point of having promotions if the items aren't in the store?
Finally, does Farmfoods not limit the number of promotional items a customer can purchase at one time. For example, the butter promotion of 10 for £10. I have seem people picking up several boxes of 10 thereby leaving none on the shelf. The same thing happened with cheese, cereal, magnum ice lollies and Tetley tea bags. How are other customers supposed to buy these items if the store allows people to bulk buy in large quantities. Other supermarkets limit the number that can be bought so why doesn't Farmfoods.

I am writing to make a formal complaint regarding an upsetting experience I had at the Farmfoods Oldbury store involving a staff member named Lee.
During my visit, Lee behaved in a rude and inappropriate manner towards my 2-year-old child. I found the interaction completely unacceptable and very upsetting as a parent. My child threw some body sprays whilst my mom was there which she was going to pick up but before she even could pick it up he made a comment to my 2 year old saying this is disrespectful are you going to pick it up? I’m sorry but I work in retail myself and his issue was that his faced that section. Your store closes at 9pm and you’ve faced that section for half 6, you’re clearly going to get customers pick stuff up so why make an issue and disrespect your customers like that. Customers should be able to shop without feeling uncomfortable or concerned about how staff speak to their children. There’s children out there with autism and a child shouldn’t feel like there not allowed to go out.
When I told the sales advisor on the tills to call the manager, apparently Lee was the supervisor in charge today, which he should know better as a supervisor. He came to the tills spelling like cigarettes which is highly unprofessional and instead of telling my child how to be respectful, he should focus on his appearance in front of customers. He still didn’t apologise to me or my child and was getting more rude. He then refused to serve me saying I will refuse your sale. I come to that store every other week and never had this kind of experience, he told the sales advisor to not serve me and walked off. She asked him again but he had already walked away and still served me. If your job is too much or you can’t deal with customers you should be working in a retail work environment,
I would appreciate it if this matter could be investigated properly and addressed with the staff member involved. I also ask that you respond to let me know what action will be taken following this complaint.

Poor service and unhelpful staff. Visited today 11am, fridges were empty, staff around very unhelpful when asked if the produce was in the rear, yes they said. Ill fill the fridge up later. When asked if they could get them now, no come back later was the reply. Poor that the freezers were empty at 11am when clearly stock was there.

I usually shop at farmfoods at chaucer in sheffield every month for my food shop, never had a problem before, staff are usually lovley, went in today and attitude with staff was disgusting and hostile, im not sure if it was because it was a saturday evening and close to closing or what but if i spoke to a customer the way i had been spoken to today at my job, id be sacked. There is no need to be so rude to your customers. I never write bad reviews about others service, i work in retail too, but today was disgusting. Do better, treat your customers with respect.

About six months ago I bought chicken-bits (or pieces, rather, as you'd purchase at KFC) - I think the term is 'pop-chicken' - in a bag for about seven-pounds from their Torquay outlet and which gave the aftertaste of excrement (like an odour in taste form).
Yesterday, I told their head-office and the reply was that I didn't have the receipt and so they couldn't investigate.
Why did their pop-chicken taste like that? My concern was that the company is farm produce related, on some level, and therefore the question arising...what exactly goes into some of these foods on a 'natural' level.
I did initially think the problematic item was a brand of onion-rings as these also give off the same aftertaste, while the onion-rings, having just eaten more after being in the freezer are (after Farm Foods checked the barcode on them,) a Lidls item.
Had there been onion-rings from two different retailers giving off that aftertaste then this possibly could equate to the sulphur in onions not having been 'treated' properly prior to the manufacturing stage but for the situation to not be involving onion-rings from two retailers but rather onion-rings from one and pop-chicken from another brings us to the conclusion that there are ingredients in both their chicken and also Lidl's onion-rings which require looking into - the specific ingredient is probably present in order to fill-out / add to...the mass / weight of the package.
Farm Foods could quite easily have phoned the Torquay outlet to see if their bags of chicken were still being sold, so as to find out more, yet even if not sold anymore then I am sure the staff-members would remember the product as it was the only one like it which was sold for that price. I was cut off, very obviously, from engaging in further enquiry.

I always find the staff at the Lang Stracht branch so helpful. I have trouble walking and with arthritis. One staff member loaded my trolley with 3 x twelve cartons of milk for me. Zara at the checkouts lifted them into my car boot for me, and also returned the trolley to the 'park'. Thank you ZARA for being so helpful. Top marks to you - 10* review.

Farm foods ripped me off charged me for 4 packs of steak pies and 1 pack of minced beef and onion £1.99 each, what I actually bought was 2 packs of steak pies and 2 packs of mince and onion, I also used a £2 off £25 coupon, they over changed me for a pack of pies and never gave me the £2 off.
I contacted customer service because I live miles away from the store gave them my receipt number, the response I got was incredible, being the 28th April I was informed the prices on the leaflets were expired, they had expired on the 30th April, and the coupon had expired in may, the coupon actually expires tomorrow 30th April.
The first reply I got was even worse, apparently customer service doesn't deal with my type of enquiry, they offered no solution surely they are over stocked by 2 packs of steak pies, and under stocked 1 mince and onion.
But not the slightest bit interested that they stole £3.99 off me. I sent them a picture of the pies, and my receipt. I won't be going back there they are criminals and thieves.
I have now had an apology from farm foods and seems someone finds overcharging as bad as shoplifting, that I understand is blighting the UK retail sector.
Whilst £3.99 to me isn't anything, to someone else it could be eating. So I've changed the review to 3* 2 for them getting my point.

I don’t recognise many of the negative reviews posted here. My local Farmfoods in Blyth, Northumberland is usually very well stocked and the staff very professional. Sometimes they might run out of Special Offers but only because they are such excellent value. The only product I’ve been unable to purchase recently is diced avocado. Not sure whether it is no longer stocked or simply unavailable but it makes avocado on toast so much easier than trying to judge the ripeness of fresh fruit!
