I Wanted to Be a Long-Term Customer
I spent $1,456 with German Kabirski during a Black Friday promotion after researching the designer extensively and communicating with customer service multiple times regarding sizing before placing my order.
Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing.
Before purchasing, I specifically discussed sizing concerns with customer service and was advised that exchanges would be possible if needed. After receiving the rings, I was informed that exchanges for different sizes would not be allowed because the items had been purchased at a deep discount during the promotion. This restriction was never disclosed during my numerous pre-purchase inquiries about sizing.
Three rings did not fit despite following the sizing guidance provided.
I also experienced quality issues with three different rings. Two gold-vermeil pieces began showing significant wear, with the gold finish wearing through in areas of normal use. A third ring with a black finish began showing wear after only a few wears, exposing the lighter metal underneath. In addition, another ring did not resemble the product photographs that influenced my purchasing decision.
The customer service experience was equally frustrating. Direct questions were often met with incomplete or vague responses, requests for clarification frequently went unanswered, and my request for escalation to a supervisor was ignored.
What made the situation particularly disappointing is that I genuinely wanted to be a long-term customer. I purchased eight rings, joined the loyalty program, accumulated thousands of loyalty points, and expected to make future purchases. Instead, I spent months trying to resolve issues involving sizing, quality concerns, return policies, and store credit terms.
Ultimately, I disputed the charges through my credit union. My credit union resolved the dispute in my favor and made the credits permanent.
While I appreciate the final financial resolution, I would have much preferred receiving jewelry and customer service that justified the premium pricing.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend German Kabirski. My advice to prospective buyers is to carefully review all policies, save all correspondence, and proceed with caution.
