Good and affordable to cover the basics
I've stopped using Sorted after 3 years. It was really helpful to begin with. It's affordable and it does the job. But it no longer meets my needs.
Some new features, like checking for double-entries of expenses could be really helpful.
Recently some things are broken (the ability to export data) and missing (easy access to tax advisor).
But human support is still there and they are friendly and get you what you need.

It's been more than 2 months…
It's been more than 2 months (1/3/2023-5/5/2023) that I can't issue my invoices in a regular way! No more than 2 items can be listed on the same invoice page which results to inconvenient multiple page invoices for no reason!! I keep contacting them every month about it and the answer is always abstract saying that the issue will be resolved sometime during the year as they are occupied with other stuff before they get to fix this!!

Great service in-between a Steuerberater and DIY
Great service that is in between doing your own taxes and having a Steuerberater. I've had such bad luck with Steuerberaters in the past that I just learned how to do them myself. Sorted makes it easy to do it yourself, and has Tax advisors you can hire to make official documents for you. Submitting VAT reports and Income tax reports is a total breeze. I like that they send reminder emails to submit tax reports (although when I switched to quarterly VAT reports it wasn't automatic).
The customer service use to be better before they were bought by an American company. I also wish they had a way to upload pictures of receipts and invoices from your phone, in general I wish there was a mobile app version.
I would use caution if you are using this app without really knowing how taxes work in Germany, they have a lot of good articles on Sorted but not sure if there is a guide for people new to the system. It can be confusing to figure out what you can expense and what you shouldn't, and what things (like utilities?) have VAT, etc.

The Jury is still out on this one….
I was thrilled to find this English Tax software but for us it does not have enough options. There is no possibility to add additional types of income such as retirement. We also have an employee and there is no place for this. My service requests usually get automatically closed before I get a satisfactory answer. In my first contact with the company DEEL regarding adding the extra income, they had never heard of Sorted. I recently filed for last year and am holding my breath to hear back from the Finanzamt. But I am still not giving up on it completely because it is so easy to use and hopefully the software improves. It is a perfect solution if your situation isn't too complicated.

Invaluable platform and assistance
I'm currently using the free version as my circumstances require me to use a local Steuerberater rather than submit via Sorted. I'm very pleased with the easy to use features and use the platform to keep track of my invoices and payments. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who is daunted by the whole tax business especially in a foreign country and the fact that the platform is in English is so helpful. Thank you for a super service!

Good Freelance Management Tool
So far it's a very easy to user software . Also I would say it's a great tool for non German speakers where everything from registration as freelancer to creating invoice and submitting tax return is at your finger tips :)

Takes away the nasty stuff
Germany located opinion. It works really well, all my business stuff about taxes and invoices can be managed with sorted. Support is really good and fast, using it now in the third year for my IT business. Invoices are sent autmatically, really good.

Makes doing German taxes less fun than usual
It's great being able to do your taxes in English, right?
Sorted tries to make it easier - but fails, spectacularly, to make any kind of sense for those trying to disambiguate business income and expenses from their personal bank account.
You cannot bulk-edit transactions: you can select a few, but you have to edit them one by one, and once you have edited one, they then serve you whatever is at the TOP of the list of all your expenses again. You can't skip to the next/previous record, meaning that the process of editing your tax assessments actually feels more arduous than it really is.
"About that €0.13 cashback from your bank? Well, does that include 19% VAT, 7% VAT, and was it earned through selling a service or goods?"
Make it less bureaucratic - make a simple UX where people know what is business, what is personal, what VAT usually applies to a usual category, stop people sifting their thousand card purchases of a Sterni and a packet of Pueblo from their facking business expenses ONE BY ONE.
I hate you, Sorted. I hate you.
Yeah, you have to manually select and edit EVERY SINGLE TRANSACTION that is imported from the synced bank account (which works great, actually).
They don't explain what VAT is usually payable on a certain good or service IN THE SCREEN WHERE YOU SELECT IT
They don't offer a way to mark your income as anything but "Goods/Services/VAT Refund/Corona Aid" - literally 4 bloody options. Got a friend sending you money via a payment app? Fack you!
They don't offer any useful oversight of how to use their app, nor any insight into how the German system works. They expect you to Google that, read their sparse FAQs, or pay a tax advisor €90 to answer a simple facking question.

Really easy-to-use platform

I really love the app for the past 6 months or so I have been having problems with the export of the invoice which looks unfortunately really messy and appears unprofessional. Apparently, they cant fix it so I need to email customer service every time I need to download an invoice (but I still have to pay full price for the service). Since switching to Deel also there is no longer the "ask a tax advisor" option, which was a huge selling point.
Previous review:
Really easy-to-use platform, that makes taxes really simple. In my experience so far, customer service has always been helpful too. I would highly recommend to freelancers :)

Ich nutze Sorted seit Dezember 2022 und bin voll auf zufrieden. Es ist einfach die Rechnungen zu erstellen, Ausgaben zu sammeln und dann die FA Meldungen zu verschicken.
Schön wäre jetzt noch eine App. Dann wäre das Scannen der Belege einfacher.
