This app is a disaster
This app is a disaster. A lawsuit is definitely being prepared for this joke of a service.

This app is a disaster. A lawsuit is definitely being prepared for this joke of a service.
This app is horrible, should be erased. We need better.
Horrible. I bet this app has broken up so many relationships and is the reason why so many inmates are stressed out. Its pointless to write when inmates aren't able to write more than a couple of sentences or it boots me out whenever it feels like it. BRING BACK JPAY!!!!!
I;m really shocked by the customer service. The agent answers by either saying Yeah.. or making a mouth sound.
He thens tarted to cough disgustingly and clear his throat every time I spoke. He was laughing at me and had an attitude. He was making disgusting sounds and kept trying to get me to hang up and telling me I called the wrong place (this is after waiting over an hour for customer service)
He had a thick spanish accent and didn't take time pronounce words. The interaction felt disgusting and the loud throat noises were vulgar.
He didn't help and hungh up on me so I wouldn't access the customer feedback option.
A previous agent also hung up on me after waiting 45 minutes on hold.
Garbage. Maybe a class action lawsuit will put them on notice! I created an account and can't even sign in to view messages after adding money. According to the reviews, maybe an investigation need to happen. I have tried everything!
I use GettingOut to communicate with my aunt who is incarcerated. Unfortunately, many of my message, i don't even want to count how many, remain in “pending” status for months and are never delivered, yet I am still charged for them. There is no automatic refund process for undelivered messages, and those charges add up quickly.
I have emailed customer support multiple times about this issue. My first email was over a week ago, followed by three additional attempts. I have received no response.
What makes this especially frustrating is that, in many facilities, this platform is the only option families have to communicate with their loved ones. When there is no alternative service available, reliability and accountability become even more important. Families are already under emotional and financial strain. Charging for messages that never go through, combined with silence from customer support, feels exploitative.
Communication with incarcerated family members should not come with this level of uncertainty and lack of support. Until these issues are addressed, I cannot recommend this service.
So just know if you put ten dollars or whatever on there, you're only going to probably be able to use about seventy five percent of your money, because the rest probably will be in pending status.
If I could 0 stars then I would. Diabolical service. Never dealt with a company this bad before. Been unable to communicate with my friend for 3 months. You email them and they just reply with standard responses or tell me to call them, it took me 3 months to finally speak to them on the phone and numerous calls and cost to sort out my issues. They don’t listen or read emails properly and a lot of the time don’t bother answering either! Avoid this company if you can!
I'm in Canada wanting to connect with a friend in a US facility. Smart phone APP doesn't allow selection in the US. Friend sent a link and got the account open web-based. After many run-a-rounds, we are texting, but several issues remain. Customer support is non-existent and after hours of finally reaching one, call drops mid way. Frustrating experience compounded by unreachable support.
After paying for this service when I tried using it it continued to show a zero balance for my account. I emailed twice inquiring about how to rectify this issue. I receive no response in the email. I called Customer Service and asked for a refund and Customer Service is offering me a refund based on the amount that I purchased minus the service charge.
If I had used the service successfully, I could understand the company holding on to the applicable service fee. Since the company did not render me a service at all, it should be criminal. That patrons are charged a service fee whether service is rendered or not, especially when service is failed on their end.
I deposited $50 into this system in March 2025 to stay in touch with a loved one in jail. Due to a court continuance, the funds were barely used—about $48 remained. But because I didn’t submit a refund request within their buried 30-day deadline, they kept the money.
Let me be clear: This wasn’t some oversight. It’s a predatory policy designed to quietly siphon funds from families already under emotional and financial strain. And because this company holds an exclusive contract with the jail, families like mine have no choice but to use their service. It’s a monopoly with no competition, no customer protections, and no transparency.
If you must use this platform, I urge you to:
• Set multiple calendar reminders to request a refund well before the 30-day mark
• Track your balances constantly
• Screenshot everything
They won’t remind you. They won’t notify you. And if you miss their hidden deadline by a day, they’ll happily keep your money without providing a single minute of service.
Disgusting. Shameful. And totally legal—because the system is set up to favor them, not the people they serve.
