I was originally a customer of Smile Direct and when they closed I could no longer get new retainers untill I found Go Ortho, I ordered both top and bottom retainers online without doing new impressions as they had mine on file, unfortunately as it had been some time since I had a new set my bottom teeth had moved slightly while using the old retainers, I emailed and got a response super quickly, they sent out an impression kit, which I completed and got a new bottom retainer all within a few days, unfortunately the new bottom retainer was a bit tight around the front gums, after sending an email they reviewed the image I sent and made amendments to the area and sent out a new bottom retainer which now fits perfectly. They have super quick turnaround and respond quickly to emails. I would definitely recommend to anyone who are looking at getting new retainers

I am a former SmileDirectClub employee, and my experience with Go Ortho has raised some very serious questions.

I received unsolicited marketing emails from Go Ortho despite never giving Go Ortho consent to contact me.

More importantly, the email address they contacted me on was created specifically for my work at SmileDirectClub. I created and used that address solely for a particular work purpose. It was never used for personal purchases, newsletters, subscriptions or anything else, and I have never given it to Go Ortho.

So when Go Ortho contacts me on that specific address years later, I find the explanation that this was simply an “error” extremely difficult to believe. Where did they obtain that address, and on what legal basis are they using it for marketing?

This is particularly concerning given that Go Ortho openly markets itself to former SmileDirectClub customers while simultaneously stating that it is an independent company and has no affiliation with SmileDirectClub. Their own website specifically says they support former SDC patients and manufacture replacement retainers for them.

And then there is Trustpilot.

Take a look at the five-star reviews yourself. A remarkable number of them are from supposed former SmileDirectClub customers and repeatedly use almost identical themes and wording: they had the original scans, the process was “quick and easy”, delivery was fast, customer service was excellent, the retainers fitted perfectly, etc.

I cannot prove that these reviews are fake, so I won't claim that they are. But the repetition and remarkably consistent narrative are enough to make me seriously question how these reviews are being generated and how representative they actually are.

What is especially frustrating is Go Ortho's standard response to complaints about unsolicited emails: “If you have received messages in error…”

In my case, this was not some random email address that could have been entered incorrectly. It was an address created specifically for my employment at SmileDirectClub.

As someone who worked at SDC, I find the whole situation deeply concerning. Whatever the precise relationship between the two businesses, Go Ortho has built a business heavily around former SmileDirectClub customers, and I would strongly recommend that anyone considering using them does their own research into where their personal data came from and why they are being contacted.

For me, this isn't about the quality of a retainer. It's about trust, consent, data provenance and transparency. Go Ortho has failed that test.

They already had my original scans on file, so re-ordering my retainers was straightforward. Delivery was really fast, and the customer service was excellent — they were quick to respond and really helpful throughout.

They also had a promo on when I ordered, so I was able to get a second pair of retainers completely free!

I'm a former Smile Direct Club customer and getting new retainers was quick and easy.

I was a former Smile Direct customer and needed to obtain a new set of retainers after I had previously got a set from my dentist. I decided to take up the subscription offer. The first set I received I found didn’t fit well on the roof of my mouth and found my tongue rubbed against the retainer so didn’t use them. I contacted Go Ortho to cancel my subscription which wasn’t a problem but they asked me why I wanted to cancel out of interest. I told them the problem and that I hadnt had the problem with the retainers from my own dentist. They asked for some photos of the retainer in my mouth and I also sent a photo of my dentist retainer as a reference. Within a few days I received my new reatainer which is a prefect fit and it was a replacement for the first set they had sent. The communication kept me updated and was always a very quick response. Overall I have been very impressed and pleased with the service I have received and would be more than happy to recommend them to others.

As an former Smile Direct Customer I was concerned and worried about where I was going to find my new retainers when they went into admin.

When I found out Go Ortho had taken over all ex Smile Direct customers, I was so relieved, didn't have to spend thousands to maintain straight teeth. The process for reordering retainers was so easy, they had my scans already, the retainers arrived quickly, I was kept updated every step of the way, DPD haven't messed up any of these deliveries so far (rare I know!). Go Ortho have provided excellent customer service, high quality retainers (better than the ones Smile Direct supplied!) that fit comfortably. Highly recommend them!

Excellent, simply excellent. If you’re a former smiledirect member this is a great option, ordering the retainers was a simple process and a quick one ! It took only a couple of days for my retainers to arrive, which fitted perfectly. Support is responsive and adheres to any special requests. Lovely all round 10/10 experience.

Very Good Company, Excellent staff & really helpful!

The retainers were delivered within a decent timeframe. Go Ortho had the information they needed from Smile Direct which no longer exists. The retainers I used from Smile Direct were more bespoke. in that the edges were cut around the tooth line rather than just a straight edge which needed filing down and is uncomfortable to wear. I hope this is something that will be introduced soon.

Amazing ! As a previous smile direct customer I didn’t need to have a scan, I just needed a replacement retainer .
To be honest I was a bit nervous about ordering a new set but they arrived within a week and the quality is so much better than my old ones !
