Recently my husband took out a funeral plan over the phone. He explained he was deaf and that sometimes he needs to pass the phone to me. No problem we were told and would you like us to put it on your notes- oh if only all companies were as understanding. I had previously set up an instalment plan for me which was fine and affordable but as I was able to pay off the remaining balance I phoned and everything was completed in one call and under 10 minutes from dialling to hanging up. Easy to set up and my sons know where the paperwork is when the time comes. I know this is a great reliable company as when my dad died suddenly in January this year he had a golden charter plan and everything was so straightforward in contacting them and very understanding people on the phone.

Karen was knowledgeable, understood what we required & explained what we were requesting & its consequences to allow my wife & I to make the right decision.

Let me first say that the young lady I dealt with on the phone was first class and dealt with my issue efficiently and politely. Unfortunately it took 45 minutes of waiting on the phone to get through to her, despite starting at caller number 8. I know I can email and this is what I did in the first place but the response to my email required a phone call for my husband to confirm that he had moved home with me and we shared the new address. This despite the fact that I am listed as next of kin on his plan and had already given in my email the details that served as security questions. Fortunately the young lady I spoke to helpfully suggested making a record that we could speak for one another in future.

I spoke with Jayne who was very helpful and made sure l understood everything regarding changing the Funeral directors and when to expect to have confirmation.

Stay away from this company, contacting them by phone is near impossible when asked to leave a message that to is impossible as it’s states the mailbox is full ! Full of people fed up of trying to get through no doubt!

My mother took out a Golden Charter policy many years ago and it simplified matters hugely for the family on her death two years ago. I, too, have now taken out a policy with them for myself and found the process easy and the staff very kind and helpful. Yes, this company deserves five stars.

I found the process of setting up a Golden Charter Funeral Plan straightforward and clearly explained. Lorraine was helpful and professional throughout and made everything easy to understand. It provides peace of mind knowing arrangements are in place and costs are fixed. Overall, a positive experience.

I took out a funeral plan a few years ago and recently wanted to change it. I had absolutely no problem with them at all and experienced excellent service within a few weeks. I would recommend anyone to go to Golden Charter.

I felt no pressure to buy. All my questions were answered professionally. I felt at ease thoughout the whole proccess.

When I took out a funeral plan there were no just cremation plans around. When they became more popular I wished that I could have one of those. I contacted golden charter and explained, they said I could change over my plan if I wanted to. I said I would like to do that and that I wouldn’t expect any money back as this policy is cheaper than the original one. I had a phone call from a very nice gentlemen who told me how to swap over and that I would get money back. Within a fortnight my new plan documents had arrived and the money repaid was in the bank. I cannot praise them enough in dealing with this, so professionally and quickly.

Wanted to get a plan in place so telephoned about it, got a professional but yet friendly gentleman to talk through different plans etc. Decided on which plan I wanted and now feel relieved I've actually got it all organised leaving my children with nothing to arrange. Very happy with Golden Charter

What they advertise isn’t always the case. Nearest funeral director to where we stayed wanted an extra £1500 to deliver the basic package. We had option to cancel or pay the extra £££. I asked Golden Charter who does the basic package local to us for that price. 10 miles away from where we are based. We went with it because my relative didn’t want to pay any more money. Afterwards I was bombarded with spam calls for weeks. Mentioned it to a work colleague who said funnily enough their Dad had recently done the same and they were experiencing a lot of spam calls too. Otherwise it’s been fine. Obv I can’t comment if what happens when we need to put the policy into practice, hopefully it will be event free.
