Bait and switch pricing
They arranged a price of £200 based on photos provided, then phoned up just before pick up to tell me the price changed to £600+ based on the same photos. When refused, they were rude and cancelled.

Would not recommend..
I was given a quote via email after sending photos of the furniture, so I expected the price to be accurate. However, when the team arrived, they took photos, sent them to the office and significantly increased the price without a clear explanation.
This felt very misleading, as the original quote was based on the same information. They left without my furniture as I stood my ground and said I wouldn't pay more than I was quoted initially. The pricing approach felt opportunistic, particularly in a situation where customers may feel pressured to proceed once the team has already arrived. Especially when you’re trying to organise rubbish/furniture removal quickly and don’t have many options at short notice.

I had a very disappointing experience
I had a very disappointing experience with Handyrubbish.
I contacted them for a quote and sent clear photos of all the items that needed to be removed, so they had full visibility of the job from the start. While I was deciding, they emailed asking what price I was looking to pay and said they were “flexible.” However, when I made an offer, they refused it — which made that claim feel misleading.
Despite this, I went ahead and booked them. On the day, I received a call saying the final cost went from £126 (inc VAT) to over £200. This is a very wide and unclear price range considering they had already seen everything in advance.
To make matters worse, when the van arrived, it didn’t even have enough space to take the items.
Overall, the communication was inconsistent, pricing lacked transparency, and the service felt disorganised. This experience wasted my time and caused unnecessary stress. I would not recommend.

This is something we would normally do our best to resolve, as if the rubbish turns out to be more than initially stated, we can usually arrange a second trip or send another team and vehicle to complete the job. We work with both Luton and caged vans, and we always aim to make sure that proper scheduling and suitable vehicle allocation are in place for each collection.

Turned up late. They contacted their boss and said as there was domestic rubbish it would be £80 extra which there wasn't. I agree a price from 140 to 180 pounds just to get rid of rubbish. They had to take everything through the house and that didn't stop them from banging into things. VERY UNFRIENDLY

Fast and efficient
I called to enquire about the removal of assorted items. The process was extremely easy and surprisingly fast. They booked me in for that same day. They arrived on time, called me beforehand and collected all the trash quickly.

They revised price well above quote
Sent photos to this company got a quote of £200 . On arrival they photographed the load again and the “office” phoned asking £375 . Sent them away as a quote is a legally binding agreement not an estimate. They should probably change their website to something more honest.

Competent clearance
Arrived the very next day after calling and collected all of the rubbish from my front garden. Driver was very helpful. Bear in mind what most others are saying. The quoted price was far cheaper than other firms until the driver turned up, when it doubled! However, after some polite negotiation the price was reduced to a figure I was happy to pay. Everybody happy!

The actual removal of the bulky item…
The actual removal of the bulky item was painless. With me it was the reception admin person who failed to send me an email to confirm booking which requires me to respond that I accept the booking and with out that the workmen turned up and I did not let them in until that email came into my inbox. Then even more painful waiting to send me an email to provide the bank details had to pay one of the workmen instead and send that as proof of payment instead. The workmen were very polite and did their job very quickly though. Shame about the reception/admin staff.

Really poor buisness module
Really poor buisness module, called me up on a shoot location to cancel a job because the team dont want to wait around till the agreed collection time. What kind of business runs a model like this because they can't be bothered. Didn't care that I said I would be unrecommending them to all my production clients/contacts. Thank you for sharing this, and we’re really sorry for the time wasted and the frustration caused. A jump from an emailed quote of £140 to £440 on arrival is a huge discrepancy, and if your photos accurately reflected the load, that’s not acceptable.
In all cases the on-site team re-assesses the actual volume/weight or waste type and how it differs from what was quoted, but that should be clearly evidenced and explained, never sprung on you in a way that feels like a bait-and-switch.
We’d like to investigate properly and come back with a clear explanation. Please DM your booking reference, postcode, and the date/time of the visit, and if you still have them, the photos you sent and the quoted email/message. We’ll review the quote notes and the crew report from that job and address it internally.

Overall positive experience apart from trying to increase the price
Easy to communicate initially (especially as I called them on a Saturday at 5pm). I sent pictures and a video of the rubbish and was very explicit of what would need taking.
I was given a quote of £100 which I was happy with as they would come the next morning (Sunday) at 10am.
I had read the other reviews and knew they would try to increase the cost on the spot, which they did by saying £160. I was very firm and said I would not pay a penny over the agreed amount of £100. After 10 minutes of back and forth, they eventually agreed to £100.
It was 10 minutes work for them (7 black bags of carpet and a few bits of wood). I even helped them load their van so it was easy work / money for them.
My advice to those using this company - be prepared for an upsell and stick to your guns!

Very happy with the service I received.
I shopped around before choosing this company. I spoke to Jessie on the phone to get a price for the three items of furniture I wanted removed. The price was confirmed by email. I had read other reviews which said that the price quoted goes up when the workers arrive, so I called back again to make sure that the price quoted was exactly what I would pay with no hidden extras. I was assured by Jessie that the price was correct. Milena and Runen came 30 minutes before the appointed time which was great for me. They were polite and helpful, and moved the items without any damage to walls in my narrow hallway. Milena took photos before and after collecting my items. All in all I was very happy, both with the price quoted and with the service I received from Milena and Rumen. I would use this company again. The price quoted was much better than others I called.

Sent photos, agreed a price at £200 and then get a call as they arrive on site to say that £200 is now £450 as there is a 'tonne' of rubbish. Absolute nonsense since it was a bit of turf and about 4 black bags of cardboard and paper. Sheer price gouging from a bunch of rogue traders. Avoid at all costs.

Our phone/email quotes are guide estimates; the final price is confirmed on site once the crew assess actual volume/weight, access/loading distance, and any local charges. That said, any large change must be explained clearly and agreed before loading so you can make an informed choice.
For context, turf/soil is charged by heavier bands because disposal is weight-based, while cardboard/paper is lighter and typically cheaper. Still, moving from £200 to £450 is a big jump and should be justified against the measured volume/weight on arrival.
If you’re willing, please DM your booking reference, job postcode/date, and the photos sent for the original quote. We’ll audit the call notes, crew photos and on-site assessment to check whether our process and pricing bands were applied correctly. Where we’ve fallen short on clarity, we’ll address it with the team.

Prompt and efficient rubbish collection
Good experience with this company - the phone call came immediately after I sent an online query. I sent pictures of our rubbish and was given a quote. They turned up when they said they would, and by that point we'd added a few things to the pile, which increased the price but it was still reasonable. The rubbish was also in several piles in different places in the garden and they were happy to collect all of it from different places and take it away,
