Renting in Shannon airport for over 30…

Renting in Shannon airport for over 30 years and now feel robbed of nearly €949 from this company! Their pictures focused more on damage to body of car but not on the tiny wind screen scratch which cannot been seen on their pictures due to reflection and on my picture after they decided I was responsible for that tiny scratch. No course of appeal as it was noticed after I handed back and I have no recollection what so ever of any hit to window (tiny) and wish I could post their and my picture here but can’t. Don’t use them full stop!!

This company is a JOKE !

This company is so irresponsible that they don’t even know what a Revolut credit card is. They don’t know that a Revolut credit card can be either Visa or Mastercard. Because of this, they didn’t accept my credit card and even refused to try it. Due to this last-minute action, I was put in a difficult situation and also lost money because of the cancellation. #revolut #hertz #hertzglobal #hertzintermational #flex

I sent details by e-mail as you requested. still there is not update. I lost 100 euro because of refund policy. which is not my mistake !!!!!!

Awful experience at Dublin airport

Awful experience at Dublin airport. Stefan on the desk didn’t ever give me the option of the lowest level of cover and so what I thought was a €150 hire turned into €550 hire. I have since been dealing with ‘customer service’ to try and sort this and it’s been a nightmare and nobody cares. What’s more, I just spoke with Derek, the head of customer services in Ireland, and frankly it was the most unprofessional and bizarre conversation I’ve ever had. He was passive aggressive throughout and actually quite mean. It has really taken me aback! I will never be using Hertz again. I did manage to speak to one guy called Paul Manning who was a delight, a shame they don’t have more of him in their company!

Avoid unless you want to be scammed

I've rented cars from different companies at Dublin Airport for years, and Hertz are by far the worst.

Since last May, I’ve been chasing them to return a deposit they are still holding. Despite my bank confirming no refund was ever received, Hertz continue to insist the money was sent back. Their responses are generic, irrelevant and clearly written by AI.

To make matters worse, after I returned the car, they made multiple attempts to take additional money from my account, even setting up a “recurring payment” without authorisation.

I’ve lost count of the emails I’ve sent, all to no avail. I would strongly advise avoiding Hertz at Dublin Airport.

If I was able to give negative Stars, I would. Absolutely dishonest and horrendous experience. They rented me a vehicle in bad shape, only drove it for a little while before it had a major mechanical failure. They charged me ~$2250 for a bad clutch, and said I was the one that caused the issue. I submitted a rebuttal, but they said if the car was in bad shape, I should have said something even though the failure was the first significant sign of the issues. They also triple charged me for the rental period, but eventually corrected the overcharge after I filled a complaint. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. I recommend reporting them to the Irish Consumer Protection Authorities (CCPC and ECC Ireland), also, submit a complain to Hertz International, as this company is a Licensee of Hertz.

DO NOT RENT FROM HERTZ CAR RENTAL

DO NOT RENT FROM HERTZ CAR RENTAL. Hidden charges are added for Insurance. Even if you have your own excess cover they add a charge for that at Euro 7.00 per day. Hertz at Farranfore (County Kerry Airport) also trick you into believing they are giving you an offer of a free upgrade and then charge you bundles, dont be fooled. Stay away use another car hire company!!!

Hertz is not a party to that agreement . As part of our policy, a credit card pre authorization is required to cover the excess. All this terms and condition are outlined in our website. Regarding the upgrade and other charges, all additional fees are discussed and acknowledge at the counter prior to completing the rental agreement. DON'T hire is my advice. If you really have to make sure you take pictures and video's of every angle of the van. If the damage is not marked on the van hire paperwork go back into the office and bring the rental person out to see it and mark it. In our case the Radio controls was broken when we picked up our van. We had a picture of it which was date stamped thankfully. They took money out of our credit card even when we had proof we didn't damage the radio controls. Took almost 2 weeks to get refunded. Hidden cost are unreal. I will never hire a van from this company again. Gangsters

Not even one star would I give

Not even one star would I give! But had to to write this review! You are a big scam ripping people off adding cover and charges to people after they’ve left the country! Then adding a service tax for the services you didn’t ask for! How are you allowed to do business I do not know but I hope you go bust in Spain and wherever else your ripping people off! Disgusting service please people stay well away!!

Please don’t waste your time don’t go with this company I book online van collection for cork airport 7pm they said come back 9pm van is not here when I come then they said wait till 10pm but van is not there and they 4 hours wait after he said i don’t have van.they don’t bother the time of people and stuff is very rude

Excellent service from Hertz

I am delighted to report on my recent excellent experience at Hertz Toulouse (Blagnac) Airport. I stupidly left my sunglasses in the car on my return. As I was unable to report the loss online on the Hertz website, I had the good fortune of contacting Ms. Susy Barrat at the Hertz desk in Toulouse Airport by phone. I am from Ireland and Susy's english was better than my french. She personally took responsibilty and located the sunglasses ( which are over 20years old and of great sentimental value) and carefully wrapped them in a box securely, brought them to the post office in her own time, insured the package and kept in communication with me. I was able to reimburse her for her expenses but I think it is so important to acknowledge when someone like Susy goes over and beyond the call of duty. Hopefully Hertz will recognise the excellent contribution Susy has made to the reputation of Hertz as a provider of excellent customer service. well done Susy and many thanks to you. Utterly disgusting company

Utterly disgusting company. After the other half turned up to pick up her car following a delayed flight, she asked to add on a CDW Excess waiver insurance for the three day hire (expecting it yo be around £7 per day like most reputable companies). Somehow, using the magic of an unreadable hire ticket, which makes no sense even when I tried to decipher it and had to contact the rental desk to ask the what it actually meant, they had actually added on a total of £104.36, yes, for three days insurance. That's ok though, she got a premium breakdown package. Utter nonsense. Enjoy your commission though as I have already cancelled another booking and refuse to use Dollar, Thrifty and Hertz ever again wherever I travel in the world. For the sake of that £104, you will never see another penny of my money again. Jokers......

extremely unhelpful…

Look at this extremely unhelpful response after I fly long haul with my 3year old into Ireland. There is none of this information clearly stated on their website to give you a heads up before booking

Please note that we are unable to install car seats into your rental, the seat will be given to you at the counter to install yourself.



Collection at the terminal is for gold members only, having looked at your reservation there is no gold number provided

Non gold members will take a shuttle bus to our off-site location for collection of their rental .

Irish company using the Hertz brand in…

Irish company using the Hertz brand in Ireland

The car rental business using the Hertz name in Ireland is owned by Ryan Investments. While this company pays Hertz to use its name and reservation system, in my experience that do not follow the same standards at Hertz corporate locations when it comes to products, customer service, add-on charges, among others. They have never honored my Hertz status or global corporate rates for me. They regularly add on charges when you get to Dublin with no obvious notice. I would personally avoid this Ryan company. The also have attempted to remove my negative reviews several times.

James, the manager at knock airport helped me out of a difficult situation during a very busy weekend. I was so very grateful as I was in a stressful situation and he smoothed it over.

Never again

Never again. First of all, I booked the car online (€180) and knew it wasn't the full price. There were a lot of extra fees when picking up the car. For example, if you don't have €3,500 as a deposit, you have to pay extra for each day. I had to pay €260 extra. So, for a three-day car, I paid €440, which I consider a high price. Secondly, when I left for my trip, it turned out that the tax disc was two months out of date. The car's steering wheel vibrated above 100 km/h. When parked, I noticed that there were two different tires on the front axle and two different tires on the rear axle (illegal), which was probably the cause of the steering wheel vibration. I didn't inform Hertz about this right away because I wanted to finally get to my vacation. I was most satisfied when I returned the car and I don't want to use Hertz again.

Arnaque. À fuir !

Même avis que beaucoup.
Arnaque totale, avec un loueur indiquant que le deposit n’est pas possible avec la carte bancaire (ce qui n’est pas possible). Lorsque l’on demande une explication, on se fait littéralement agresser et menacer (pas de voiture si on ne paie pas les options, sachant que l’on est au milieu de nulle part, emmenés en shuttle à 10 minutes de l’aéroport). Les clients qui attendaient dans la file (plus d’une demi-heure au passage) étaient tout aussi choqués que nous. Jamais vu un tel racket organisé. À fuir absolument !

Warning Do NOT USE I was incorrectly charged for returning…

I was incorrectly charged for returning the car with 6/8 full of petrol. I returned it full. I only travelled 90km in the weekend and topped it up at nearest petrol station to Knock Airport.
Hertz Ireland did not send me any email about the late charge and the first I knew about it when I read my credit card statement. I had to ring Ireland , raise a complaint. I still have not received invoice for charge or refund.

I choose Hertz as they are usually okay, no hassle car hire. My advice DO NOT USE Hertrz Knock Airport avoid the hassle and incorrect late charges.

Do not rent a car from Hertz or Dollar/Beziers Airport. I was supposed to pay 936 euro (included insurances...more than I expected) for two weeks rental. Just back home now. I washed the car , filled the tank. I checked my credit card and nearly 2000 euros taken. The guy at airport busy with other customers. He spotted me waiting with key in my hand. Smiled at me and said "...you have a key ? I said yes, I can take it he said, I wanted to discuss the fuel gauge issue I had (not working properly) and see that the paperwork/bill was all in order. Hertz were very quick to send me a customer satisfaction email even before I had time to unpack and before the nearly 2000 euros was lifted from my account. Holiday makers using Beziers Airport and want to rent a car ... DON'T. ( Irish father and family travelling from Shannon Airport - Ryan Air to Beziers Airport.
