It is difficult to put into words just how much Lauren and the team at Hugh James have meant to our family throughout my dad’s mesothelioma claim.

Approached this company for my late Mother's asbestos/mesothelioma claim, was told they are happy to proceed.
After over a year, and after gaining information to help our case, Lynn advised us that we now need a witness to confirm they knew our Mother, also to confirm they witnessed maintenance work and that dust was present within the Hospital when my mother was working there.
She also said it would help our case if the Coroner put Industrial disease was cause of death on the certificate.
Lynn verbally said to us that is all we need now to proceed, she had also verbally mentioned a couple of times, that if otherwise the claim will still be submitted, I am certain tgat her response to this will be of denial, however it was mentioned to two members of our family.
Through placing our plea via Facebook and with the Daily Echo, we received a promising response from witnesses, one or two who confirmed seeing work's carried out & dust, and who knew of our late Mother.
The engineer’s report confirmed Moorgreen Hospital contained Asbestos during the years of her employment.
We managed to get four witnesses, including myself.
Having received a message from two of the witnesses to let us know that Lynn arranged a time to call them to discuss the matter further, according to them she failed to follow this through and apparently she did not make the calls.
When I questioned Lynn about this, she was very unsettled, suggesting that if im not happy then to find another Solicitor. In my view, her response is very poor and unprofessional. Due to the reasons that we was so far in with Hugh James, I requested that we stay within the company but with a different Solicitor, so Peter took over the case. Lynn was poor with communication and updates, I would often have to call or email her for updates on the progress, she was pleasant in her approach, however lacked communication skills, more importantly we as a family feel that we received misleading information from her and that after receiving the final expert/ engineer’s report, the Solicitors decided not to continue with our claim, simply because the report had stated that despite all the witnesses, Coroners cause of death and archive proof of asbestos within the building, the reason from the Solicitors for not continuing with the claim was because apparently we had no evidence to prove that our Mother came into contact with asbestos fibres whilst at work.
We did not have much time to get to know Peter, but from our short correspondence with him, my sister and I found him to be very òbrupt, with a rude tone to his approach. We struggled to communicate with him, if he was talking and he did most of that, it was very difficult to respond and have a two way conversation, if you tried to reply whilst he was still speaking, he would with a sharp reply say, "I have not finished", by the time he had finished, I would forget what I wanted to say. In our view this is not what you would expect from someone of his status, it's difficult enough without this.
Both Solicitors did what they had to do to help our case and they carried out good investigations to help with thie case, we also did what was asked of us plus more, however it now seems a totall waste of time abd effort, when they have decided not to continue because the engineer’s report suggests that despite having allot of witness statements etc, that we would not have strong enough case to win without a witness confirming our that our late Mother was seen to be in contact with fibres whilst at work.
Absolute waste of time. We was encouraged to continue with our searches to be told over a year later, they will not take it further. Although we are appreciative all that they have managed to do for us, this does not change the fact that communication was poor, misleading information was given from Lynn with an unpleasant approach from Peter.

I needed to attend an appeal against a decision made by a local NHS continuing care panel. Jasmine Dempsey of Hugh James, my case worker, called me the day before to outline what to expect and how she would present the case. On the day, Jasmine presented a clear case to the panel as to why the previous decision should be overturned.
