AI suggested I check out this site for an upcoming trip to Europe as a way to perhaps meet people. As many others have noted on here I was declined for reasons they would not share. Suggested it was a security issue of some sort. Ridiculous, I've never been rejected for something like this in my life. After glancing at some of the other reviews I think I probably dodged a bullet. To paraphrase Groucho Marx: I don't want to be a member of any club that doesn't want me to be a member.

Even after years I always meet new people at events. It´s so easy to talk to people. Made some very good business contacts, but as well many friends.

Dissapointing。

I applied to InterNations as a Sri Lankan national who spent over 24 years living and working in the United Kingdom before relocating back to Sri Lanka. I am precisely the kind of internationally experienced, globally mobile person this platform claims to serve.

My application was declined with no explanation. When I appealed and provided full context about my background, I received a dismissive form response stating they could not share reasons for the decision.

A platform that markets itself as a community for expats and globally minded people, yet cannot explain why someone with over two decades of international living experience was turned away, has serious questions to answer. The pattern is clear. If you are from the Global South, do not expect the same welcome extended to applicants from Western countries.

I will not be reapplying. I would encourage others, particularly those from South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Africa, to be aware of this before investing time in an application that may never be fairly reviewed.

InterNations positions itself as inclusive. My experience suggests otherwise.

I signed up and immediately got several users from around the world trying to connect with me. But the moment I want to accept a friend request or simply reply to their messages, the page redirects me to the membership payment page. There is no option to go around it. It feels like a total scam—you can't do anything as a free member, and they are just using fake requests as bait to force people to pay

Disappointing Experience
I am writing this review to warn others about this platform. They claim to be a vibrant and active community, but that is simply not true.
In my experience, other members never write back. It makes me wonder if anyone actually checks their profiles anymore or if the user base is even real. To make matters worse, the site is crawling with fake accounts.
For someone who is clearly older, it is completely unbelievable to be contacted by 20-year-old girls from Asia who are supposedly desperate to communicate. It is obvious that these are bots or scammers trying to lure people in.
Furthermore, many of the initial messages you receive come from staff members, such as "consuls" or "ambassadors" of the platform. They have a clear interest in projecting a false image of a thriving community during your first few days.
While these individuals might actually live in your city or country, they usually write to you once and then disappear. It is painfully obvious that the goal is not to genuinely connect people, but simply to generate profit. This platform is more interested in your wallet than in fostering real human connections.

Customer support representative was helpful with my cancellation issue

They went full bore commercial on everyone and I can see our local community dry up since then. We'll have to figure out something less commercial.

Wonderful place to meet people and find an authentic connection!
I joined groups where I tried out new hobbies, met people from all over the world and shared stories or a drink in cool bars and restaurants all over town! Made moving abroad so much more easier for me.

Predatory behavior

They will make the cancellation difficult and then start threatening you will legal pursuit for a service you barely used and you didn’t want to continue pay for. First time in my life where I have been harassed by a subscription platform for a service a canceled and never actually used. Not surprised they have that much bad reviews, and they don’t even question their own behaviors.

Nice people, great opportunity to make new friends, join Internations by all means!

I did not use, but visited one event and paid extra for it, and payed additionally more than 100 EURO for some kin of subscription! they are shameless and not friendly, poorly organising events. I noticed that they subscribed me just on the second year and the same day I have canceled, but they charged for the next months and send me several mail highlighting that it is ok that they do not warn getting your money, but just take it. do not use the service !!

This is a review of Internations as it is today.
I've been a member on and off for 10 years, I have also been an Ambassador, and I have attended events all over the world.
Recently they have started introducing new model in certain countries (as far as I know currently in specific region in Europe). They have removed Consuls and interest groups and created one general group for the city. With Consuls gone the number of events declined massively.
They have also changed the name of the Albatross membership to Internations One. And here's where it gets nasty.
They used to be transparent about their fees. That's gone. Prices have been removed, and by pure accident Warsaw community found out that the current upgraded membership cost for new members is €60 annually, while old members who are renewing their subscriptions are paying €100 for the exact same thing.
People stopped renewing, attendance is very low, and it's a shame really because they could have slashed the cost for everyone , keep old members, attract the new ones, keep the consuls and the community would be growing.
Main events now attract 15-20 people when it used to be 100 or more.

Automatic contract rollover which is sharp practice, threatened with debt collectors, no events in my city Kyiv Ukraine. Complete waste of time and money.

There isn't enough oversight. Some people are hosting profit making events and I didn't think that was allowed. When I sent in a complaint through customer service on the website I did not receive a response.

Expensive and getting worse. Finally managed to cancel my membership but they don't make it easy. One to avoid.

The events are nice, i met some wonderful people
