I live in a rural part of town where teachers are not always appreciated. I reached out to TutorABC and it has been amazing to work environment. The administration really cares about us educators and the students are so pleasant and grateful for our services.
freedom and flexibility
English teacher here looking to get out of the classroom and see the world. TutorABC gave me the freedom and flexibility I needed to travel and put my skills to use. I love working with the students and the company has great appreciation of its educators. Looking forward to setting sail once more and re-applying.
Great opportunity and company
Great opportunity and company. They are flexible with schedule, pay is good and students are wonderful. I appreciate the assistance they provide teachers.
Company I’d recommend
Working here has been a wonderful experience! They allow a flexible schedule which is great and convenient for my family, and it makes it easy to balance everything. The students are wonderful and eager to learn, and the overall environment is very supportive. I highly recommend this company to any educator looking for a great online teaching experience!

Taught online through TutorABC for 2 years after graduating and have nothing but good things to say about the company. The kids are the sweetest and very bright. The curriculum is well thought out and put together. As a teacher on the platform you are always held to the highest standard and get good feedback from the company, which helped me grow my teaching skills immensely.
I found the experience to be great…
I found the experience to be great overall. I think the students were very kind, the teachers were flexible and understanding, and the environment was good. I would go again.
As an experienced teacher
As an experienced teacher, I have truly enjoyed working on the TutorABC Global platform. It has given me the opportunity to share my knowledge with students from around the world while teaching from the comfort of my home. The professional development training, mentorship opportunities, and structured teaching materials have been valuable. I also have some flexibility to include supplemental material in lessons, overall, my experience has been very positive, and I look forward to continuing with TutorABC Global.
So far so good.
So far so good.
I had a few issues at first for not following some of the policies. Their "onboarding" is a little bit disorganized which made me not see some important information. I told them about that, and they told me they will be fixing it. When it comes to the classes and the students so far so good. But at the same time I'm only teaching a few hours here and there because I have a full-time job.
Great experience so far
I have loved teaching on TutorABC Global platform. As a recentgraduate, it can be difficult to find teaching jobs post graduation. TutorABC has given me the opportunity to gain valuable expereince teaching students all over the world from the comfort of my own home while also providing many PD trainings and opportunities for mentorship from senior teachers.
I have not given them 5 stars only because I wish I was able to use some of my own material in class rather than their provided material. Sometimes I'd like to include supplemental worksheets or videos from outside resources.
Overall I've had a wonderful experience teaching on the platform and look forward to continuing.
Time to Say Goodbye
I've worked for TutorABC for eight years, and this year conditions have deteriorated rapidly, something that coincided with the company moving from Taiwan to Hong Kong, and which peaked this month in August when all of a sudden, scores of teachers, many with 5+ years of experience with the company, suddenly experienced drops in bookings of between 30-100%. Personally, I'm down about 60% and, alongside countless other teachers, have lost my regular students, many of whom I've built up long, hard-won and meaningful relationships with. September's bookings look marginally better but still way below what I would expect, and if August is anything to go by, then many of the classes will just vanish near the day, with no explanation. Or pay.
I've contacted support about this, but I keep getting fobbed off with stock responses about "the system and student demand". The same is happening with the other teachers too, with no regard for transparency or length of service. Something major has just happened to the scheduling system, and none of the teachers or representatives know anything about it.
Regarding other matters, there has been a lot of new, ill-thought-out and mistake-ridden teaching material rolled out this year, which seemingly was never proofread or tested by an experienced teacher. This has been causing the teachers major issues, and even the students recognise how poor it is. Ten-minute lessons are being used for twenty-five-minute classes, and twenty-five-minute classes used for forty-five-minute classes, leaving the teachers to try their best to fill in the gaps.
The last issue is a lack of a pay rise in seven years. During this period, inflation has been consistently high, and the cost of living is only going in one direction. A new teaching director was hired a few years back, who negotiated the teachers a significant pay rise, and just after it was announced, the school then cancelled it, and their new, dynamic, highly qualified teaching director promptly left. His departure has been followed by two other well-thought-of teaching directors, so there seems to be an internal conflict between the financial team/investors and the academic staff, with the school seemingly prioritising investor returns over teachers and teaching quality.
The school is on a slippery slope, and as much as I've enjoyed my time teaching the Taiwanese kids, it's time to move to a company that recognises the value and importance of its employees and the role they play in company success.

Nine Months Postpartum, 5 Year Veteran, Stripped of Livelihood: Giving You the Real Truth About Working at TutorABC
Corporate Turnover: Management changes constantly. Top leaders frequently quit due to pressure, unfair treatment, and rigid corporate bureaucracy.
The Rating System: Students can leave low ratings without explanation and serial-rate teachers while continuing to book them. Meanwhile, teachers must maintain an arbitrary, shifting 9.5 average. When teachers used a cancellation workaround to avoid serial low-raters, management broke the cancellation system entirely by shifting it to Taiwan time, making it unusable for independent contractors.
The Booking System: Teachers receive no booking notifications and can be booked up to an hour before start time without warning, trapping them at their desks. The dedicated Teacher app was removed to limit easy access.
The Mentor Program & Staff: Headed by McKenna, who parrots corporate scripts without compassion. Out of five original teacher reps (Marko, Heather, Sophia, Jennifer Mendez, and Matthew Addyman), three compassionate reps were removed, leaving Jennifer Mendez and Matthew Addyman.
The Teacher Community: A deeply toxic and aggressive environment where the company censors teachers, uses a bullying downvote system, and sparks infighting.
Pay & Tech Issues: Pay scales are adjusted by geographic location to cut corners. The platform moved from a global US server to Hong Kong, crippling international access and forcing teachers to buy VPNs while denying tech-failure appeals.
Curriculum & Materials: Outdated, poorly made materials force teachers to stretch single-sentence slides across 12 slides for 45 minutes under strict anti-expansion rules.
Artificial Positive Reviews: The company previously ran raffles and cash incentives to bribe teachers into leaving positive reviews on sites like Indeed, Glassdoor, and Trustpilot.
My Personal Experience
I have been with Tutor ABC since 2021. Recently, the company rolled out low-paying, unsupported 45-minute exam prep and teen classes (CUP Prepare, CUP45, and TEENS). When I asked to be opted out, my competence was weaponized against me: my schedule was flooded with them.
Because student ratings are purely emotional, the flawed materials damaged my averages. Management then manually stripped all my teaching tags, leaving only those terrible classes as a corporate power flex to starve me out. During my mentor meeting, McKenna aggressively gaslit me, claiming my teaching was the issue while ignoring high-scoring sessions.
This happened while I was nine months postpartum, completely stripping my livelihood away without valid cause. Tutor ABC relies on massive contracts (like Amazon and Google) to feel invincible, treating veteran educators like a revolving door. Walk away to smaller, growing companies where teachers are actually valued

I used to love working with TutorABC…
I used to love working with TutorABC when I started- the flexibility, lots of hours and the resources being provided. However, it seems they are almost trying to find reasons to get rid of teachers and 'catch you out'.
For starters, they can schedule you with late notice, meaning you can easily acquire 'absences' which they will charge you for. They also can take away classes at the last minute too. The hours of late have been extremely low- making it impossible to rely on them for consistent work.
The 'referral' bonus is non-existent too. I've referred up to 8 friends, who are all in the 'pending' stage. My regular students also say they find it hard to get my classes - even when I am available!
It is a real shame as I have spoken very highly of TutorABC in the past.
Great interviewer lousy company
I was interviewed for a remote teaching job by TutorAbc. For starters, I will say that the woman who interviewed me (Riya) was very professional, and nice. She even applauded my past accomplishments which is great because most recruiters have never done that to me. We talked a lot about my teaching experiences, and strategy. Again, she seemed very interested. I realize that the person interviewing you isn't the same person that does the hiring which is sad because I sense a strong disconnect between the person doing the interview, and person actually deciding who will be hired. I thought for sure I would be hired. She said that they will be getting back to me in two weeks to ensure a fair review, but almost 24 hours later, I received the rejection email **sigh**. It was those generic emails that really don't delve into why you are not getting the job other than saying you are not getting it. Almost 24 hours later when they said two weeks doesn't really make me feel like the person analyzing this interview really cared about me, but that's why so many people are abandoning this industry among many other reasons.

Absolutely terrible experience at TUTORabc Global
DO NOT RECOMMEND
Absolutely terrible experience, FAKE high reviews due to their offer to teachers to win money bonuses if they leave good reviews.
Pros: I worked for 1.5 months and got many lessons and the pay was decent or on par with other companies I still work for.
Cons: Zero support for teachers, everything is automated and AI generated support
-Zero leniency or appreciation for teachers
-Will "suspend" you account if you have even ONE complaint or drop below 9.5/10 stars...I had 9.4 overall out of my 100 lessons taught and only 1 complaint, they then fired me and came up with other excuses like my attire (business professional collared shirt and glasses) or my teaching environment (well lit, quiet and fine with all the other companies I work for, among other nonsense.
- The lesson material was so bad that I often had to upload additional material to fill the 25 or 45 minute lessons, I even regularly told the company in my after lesson reports but never got any replies back or imporvment in materials but was also told they let me go since "some of the information provided to students was inaccurate"
I would NOT recommend this company to anyone unless you want a very short term shitty experience.

Great opportunity for experienced ESL teachers
After several years teaching online, I’ve found TutorABC to be one of the more stable and professional companies in the industry. One thing I appreciate about TutorABC is how clear the expectations are for teachers. Lesson objectives, scheduling, and teaching procedures are all communicated well, which helps reduce confusion. The support resources are useful, and the company provides a consistent and organized teaching environment. Some peak hours are necessary for maximizing bookings.
My application has been stuck under Review - WHY?
My application has been stuck under "review" for weeks - no email from the company, no communucation - nothing! What exactly is wrong with my application?

0 Teacher Support
I worked for TutorABC as an online teacher, and I think future applicants and current teachers deserve to know what the support experience can be like behind the curtain.
My biggest issue was not even the penalties themselves, but the complete lack of human support. Whenever I contacted them by email or opened tickets, I repeatedly received automated responses directing me back to the Help Center. I submitted multiple tickets and never felt that my case was genuinely reviewed by a real person. It felt like arguing with a vending machine.
Last month, severe rainstorms in my country caused serious disruptions. I provided screenshots and relevant news articles as evidence, explaining that the absence was caused by an emergency situation outside my control. My appeal was still rejected, and I was charged $27 USD.
I accepted that and continued working professionally. Then similar issues happened again two more times. In one case, I had entered the classroom five minutes early, ready to teach, but I was still removed from the classroom and the lesson was reassigned. Despite being present and prepared, I was the one penalized.
This raises important questions for anyone considering working here:
Is there real teacher support when problems happen?
Are appeals actually reviewed by humans?
Are teachers expected to absorb losses caused by emergencies or platform issues?
How often are technical errors blamed on teachers?
Teaching online already requires patience, professionalism, and flexibility. The least a company can provide is fair communication and real support when problems arise.
I’m sharing this so other teachers can make informed decisions, and so current teachers can speak up if they’ve experienced something similar. If this resonates with you, share your experience too. Sometimes the only way to be heard is when many voices speak at once.

Shadow banned
I started working here in January. I was satisfied with pay rate, students, flexible schedule... But I've been shadow banned since July. I only get teens, 2 classes per day at most. Another unexpected and unfair situation happened when student had left bad feedback and after that I got my two tags removed, even though it was completely unrelated to that class. I am really responsible and professional at work, but reactions and "punishments" like this leave me disappointed.

As a new tutor avoid this company
I applied to be a tutor on this platform and it is one of the worst I have come across. The onboarding process is like pulling teeth out, 2 different intro videos, 2 different profile photos ( all of which will be rejected and you need to spend even more UNPAID time fixing). Added to this the whole company is a shitshow communication wise. Without even uploading my profile students have been booking classes and the platform has not alerted me to these classes. I have been sent 2 emails already saying I 'no-showed' classes. How can students book you when you dont have a profile and why doesnt the platform let the tutor know? It is just the basics!! Massive red flags, at best it is just a shitshow, at worst it could be a scam. AVOID
