After my aunt passed away, Hannah at Kings Court Trust helped us to navigate IHT and grant of probate incredibly efficiently. She was kind and respectful - and her clear and timely communication made the whole thing very straightforward.

After months and months and months of chasing hard for a timely distribution of my late mother's estate, we have quite simply had enough and don't know where to turn.

My poor brother and sister as executors, having to deal with the raging incompetence of this company has gone from farce to despair.

Delay after inefficient delay, customer service - that, by all accounts is a zero, the left hand seemingly not knowing what the right hand is doing, complaints made, complaints upheld and still the saga continues without any reassurance of a timely and satisfactory conclusion.

Trustpilot asks for the date of this 'experience' - from approximately June 2024 to date and ongoing.

EDIT: To date (18/12/25), no response received to MY grievance. I did receive a response to someone else's grievance and requested they respond to mine instead - but nothing.

2nd EDIT: Received a (published below) response from Scot today stating he/KTC responded/reached out directly to me after publishing my review on 8th December. This is not completely factually correct in so far that Scot did respond - but responded to me about the dismal review 'dink' left on the same day - basically the wrong review.

I did reply at the time to Scot stating that I would be happy to discuss matters with him/KCT when he responded correctly to my review - not 'dink's'.

Absolutely terrible, as my niece has mentioned in her post , been told so much miss information, I wanted to be kept informed of everything that was happening in our case which never happened ! , only takes an email but rudely ignored , we also found out how the process was going through a government web site , when contacting them about it they had no answers,as for the cost of our case unacceptable due to what work they have done ???? with our on going experience please avoid ........

Employed kings court to handle my late mothers probate, as a family we are becoming frustrated with the lack of progress, they seam to blame HMRC which I can understand but they should have the skills and experience to find a way through, it feels they are happy to string us along as they are holding a large amount of money from the sale of our property.

Kings Court Trust was used to administer the probate of the will of a close colleague. I found them to be professional, efficient, informative, honest and friendly. It handled every aspect to the administration and was completely transparant throughout. A dedicated estate administrator, Katie Darby, was allocated who drove the process through to a successful conclusion. I would endorse any recommendation made to new clients.

I had an excellent experience with Kings Court Trust who helped with an application for a grant of probate for my late brother. They were professional, approachable, and supportive throughout a very difficult time. Everything was explained clearly which made things much easier and less stressful. Following the death of a family member, and faced with a very complicated estate to administer, we enlisted the services of KCT - and were incredibly grateful we did! Throughout the process, Ali Yeates and her team were patient, supportive and accommodating. While the HMRC timeline was out of their control, their guidance and professional knowledge surrounding legal and tax issues was invaluable in helping us navigate the multiple hurdles we faced. This was my first time having to get a grant of probate and I’m so glad I went with Kings Court Trust they talked me through everything and explained in great detail.

After my Mam passed away, I was put in touch with KCT from my local Bereavement Office, and from that very first contact right through to the conclusion of what would have been a hugely daunting process, KCT were there every step of the way and put everything in plain English, no jargon, questions answered quickly and without fuss. I cannot thank or rate them high enough. A special mention to Ellie and her team, they were so helpful, professional and sympathetic when it was needed.

Following the death of my Dad, whose estate was very complicated, I turned to KCT for help. Throughout the process WB, my estate manager, was professional, patient and knowledgeable. I was initially quite worried when I saw a probate solicitor listed as a co-executor on my mum’s will. I hadn’t heard of Kings Court and realised they were included because my mum had made her will through FreeWills.co.uk, which (I assume) partners with Kings Court. My first reaction was negative and I instantly feared the worst.

However, Joanna completely changed my impression. She was so kind and reassuring, explaining clearly that there was no obligation to use their services, and outlining the benefits if I chose to. In the end, I went with another solicitor who offered a slightly cheaper quote, as funds were very tight at the time, but had that not been the case I would have happily used Kings Court.

My experience with Joanna was so positive that I wanted to leave a review for anyone else who, like me, might feel anxious seeing Kings Court listed on a loved one’s will.

I was recommended KCT when my fathers solicitors ceased undertaking Estate management. In the initial stages, they were very supportive, contacting me almost daily. I had plenty reservations, and wanted to go elsewhere but was assured I was in safe hands. I was quoted over £10K - not a chance. My level of service was discussed with my former solicitor who knew my dad, wrote his Will etc and it was deduced I only needed the basic package I paid my fees upfront. That's when it went downhill. Communication was short coming, not answering emails, calls, repeat requests for the same information. Fast forward 6 months, I've been informed i am liable for IHT with an additional fee of £5000 plus VAT. I feel they charmed me when at my most vulnerable, never had to deal with Probate before and I trusted them. Had they done an initial assessment in the early stages and provided me with an accurate assessment of the complexities then I could have made a more informed decision. I now feel I was railroaded and in a position where I have to pay this when I could have otherwise gone elsewhere. I already made their work easy by paying our accountant to complete some of the tax forms

Upon the passing of my daughters mother in March 2024, I was recommended KCT by Mr Rory Shipton of SJP due to a long association with Angela.
Mr James Ryan was my initial contact & guided me through the probate process,until he moved on in Sept/Oct
2024
Mr Will Balman then took over the process in Oct 2024 & although communication has been by emails, he has guided me smoothly through the process up to it's conclusion this month.
May I thank WB for his patience & understanding through this challenging period.

I wanted to compliment Liz Fielding. At times I have found the whole process a bit messy and so many times unable to speak to anybody and feeling lost in the whole process I came across Liz having found the number at the bottom of an email that was sent to me and I decided I would call the number not knowing even who I was talking to and the moment I contacted Liz she was outstanding and so patient, understanding and explained everything so clearly, professionally. I would call Liz at one point regularly and every time without fail Liz would pick up and if I got no answer there was always a message for me and never a moment where I was made to feel I was a problem. Her attitude was outstanding and I kept thanking her for her understanding and kindness and nothing nothing was a problem for her. My journey with Probate and Sale of the house was made so much easier thanks to Liz.

Overall the probate process has been quite long, this has been mainly around issues with the estate, due the the length of time the process has taken we had more than one Personal Estate Manager, I must say the most recent Estate Manager WB has been brilliant, reply's quickly to information requests and conducts themselves in a very professional manner, very happy with WB's progress with our application and wrapping up of the estate.

An initial disappointing and negative experience. I was trying to retrieve my late Dad’s Will at a very distressing time. The Will is held by Kings Court Trust.
