I was terrified when I read the reviews but I was pleasantly surprised when my magazine arrived safe and sound, 2 working days after I had ordered it. No complaints from me.

Failed delivery again.

Issue 405 not sent due to system error, Was informed by customer service that magazine was out of stock so actioned a credit to my subscription but went to have a look on their website to see if it could still be ordered and Iron Maiden premium issue 405 is still in stock for £8.99. So why credit when mag is available to buy, Have sent messages to them.

If i could rate lower i would

If i could rate lower i would. Ordered a single issue in July, its now September and its a constant back and forth of it not being delivered then being "sent again"
This issue is important for me and its the only place i can seem to get one

Avoid at all costs

Ordered the special edition Ozzy Osbourne metal hammer. Never turned up and they say its just been lost in post.

Now the magazines are on ebay for 4x the price so i will miss out. Not happy at all

Ordered a single issue of a magazine

Ordered a single issue of a magazine - it never arrived. DONT even think about doing business with Magazines Direct, they don't deliver and they don't get back om customer service requests.
I have demanded a refund.

Don't buy from them! Didn't get item

I ordered and it said you would receive an email after 48 hrs. I have nothing, I contacted support, no reply either. So now I have no item and I've lost my money. How do I get my item or my my money back? DO NOT buy from this website!

Delivery to DK takes forever - no help from support

Hi
We have now for almost 2 months been in mail and phone contact with support.
Original subscription for Country Life Magazine was made with autorenewal, but stopped after 3 months at the end of July.
Support claimed that subscription was cancelled, but they were not able to provide evidence of that.
At least notification mail should be sent to inform about that – but no mail.

So new subscription was made, which after some more escalations finally was visible on the account.
But despite still more mails support are still not able to tell us when the magazines already dispatched under the new subscription are expected to arrive in DK.
They are not offering tracking, so there is no way I can check where magazine is stuck between UK and DK.

Don't use - they'll never cancel your subscription

I cancelled my recent subscription 6 months before the renewal date and I received written confirmation of cancellation. I have this month been charged for the renewal. The series of exchanges with magazinesdirect have included:
- Advising them via email that I have been charged and requesting a refund (I included their confirmation message to me). I was told the sub was cancelled and I should provide proof of payment.
- I them emailed proof the charge on my credit card. Their response was to confirm I had an active subscription. No reference to my original request (whilst ignoring the obviously contradictory information).
- I have been completely ghosted on my subsequent two messages.
Unfortunately it seems I will have to raise a chargeback through my credit card provider. I'm typically pragmatic when leaving reviews but I felt it prudent to share my experience because it seems evident that this behaviour is part of their business model (hey, I'm sure many people wouldn't even question/notice the payment).

In the sea of negative comments I have to say positive experience. I ordered 5 magazines of country life. I got them after 50 days (im in Serbia ) . I had communication with them all the time.

Bad envelopes damaged items

They send the magazines in branded easily tearing envolopes. After receiving my latest subscription, It was completely torn. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO THEM

Invalid code to subscribe. Still not resolved.

Received a £20 voucher from Buyagift. Upgraded by adding £2 so I could subscribe to Woman&Home magazine. Eventually received a code which I had to redeem on the magazine website. But the code is invalid. Contacted magazine and Buyagift via emails. Still hasn't been resolved. You can't phone Buyagift, they just have bots and agents via text. So in limbo now and £22 down. Save all the hassle and just give cash as a gift.

I have received a response from magazines direct asking for more information. But on the link to provide it just asked for my name and customer number. The issue has not been resolved and when I chase up emails I just receive a reply saying they're looking into it. They asked me to phone you which I did and they couldn't resolve and just said it's been escalated. But no updates. I just want 6 months subscription. Ironically after redeeming my £20 Buyagift voucher and upgrading by adding £2 when I went to use the code on magazines direct (which didn't work) there is an offer for 6 months subscription to Woman & Home for £6! Please can you sort this out. Surely just give me 6 months of magazines.

I ordered a single copy of guitarist…

I ordered a single copy of guitarist magazine on the 9th of August 2025. It never arrived. The help email system is completely non functional. I've asked for a refund but there is no return communication. I would avoid using this company for getting single copies of magazines. I've no experience of subscriptions so cannot comment on that part of the business!

Don’t buy

Magazines direct is sketchy and unreliable. They do not give updates or reply fast but I did eventually get my Billie Eilish fan pack magazine after 5 weeks of waiting. If you want to risk it, buy from them but they don’t let you cancel your order and if you don’t receive it then you can’t get a refund.

I placed an order on the 22nd August and was told to expect a second email within 48 hours with important information on your order. I never received a second email, not even in the junk folder. I waited a week, still nothing. I contacted the company who confirmed my order but that it was a newer edition to what I actually ordered and that apparently there was a glitch on their website, which I don't believe as that edition wasn't even available when I placed my order. I am now awaiting my full refund.

Update: Issue solved, delivery service must improve

Updated review: I originally gave one start but my issue was sorted so I'm raising it to three stars.

Ordered a single history magazine from this site. Was told in the email that I would get another email from them within 48 hours about the order but nothing happened.

After a week, I called to check on the order and was told it was sent. I called again a week later and was told that it was delivered the day before which was not the case at all. I was then told that the magazine had been resent, but I hadn't received that either.

After posting an angry review I eventually did get customer service to look into the issue. I was told that it was an issue with the delivery service and that the magazine would be sent out immediately.
Indeed, it arrived the next day and I was happy that what I ordered did finally come through (albeit almost three weeks later than I expected)

Next time, please make sure your delivery service is sorted from the start, as I had started to believe that I was being scammed and would not get what I ordered.

Awful Customer Ssrvice

I subscribed for a magazine & needed to cancel the subscription as we are relocating. Unfortunately I had not done so before a payment was taken & so I contacted them via email to request refund explaining why I no longer required the magazine. It took 10 days & several email to finally receive refund. However the following day they took a further payment despite confirming in an email that my subscription was cancelled. Some 12 days later & 6 emails later I have still not received a refund! I have contacted my bank to raise a dispute & they are now refunding my payment within a working day. Although I had cancelled the so called Direct Debit (it wasn’t set up as a DD just as a card payment subscription) Magazines Direct had reinstated it! My bank has advised me to be aware that the company can set up the Direct Debit again & that I need to periodically check my account but yo report it to my bank if it happens again. Awful service from Magazinee Direct & I am sincerely regretting ever subscribing to them in the first place. Avoid this company at all costs is my advice.

Utterly incompetent

Utterly incompetent, I placed a simple order of 1 copy of horse and hound, 2 weeks go past & I received the entirely wrong issue so ask for it to be resolved. Days later and i am still back and forth with them as they have the wrong issue on their system so I have to prove it is their error, I'd have thought the fact my order has a picture of the correct issue would have been proof enough but no, alas it seems I will need to chargeback through my bank to get compensated for their error instead of a simple apology and either the correct issue or a refund. If any villages are missing their idiots they are probably employed at magazines direct! Honestly, don't order from them it's so much hassle.

Terrible company

Terrible company
Took out a 6month subscription. Recieved 3 magazines only. Thereafter, every month had to chase as didnt get the magazine. Got told they would extend subscription as had no more in stock to sedn and I would get the next month as planned. After 3 my the I have up. Only plus side they did refund the last 3 issues. Advice would be to avoid.

Suspends subscription without customer notification

For some other reason beyond me, the postal service couldn’t deliver one issue of The Week to my house in May and registered it as “undeliverable” at Magazines Direct. I have received this magazine weekly for 2 years without any fail! This lead to a subsequent suspension of my subscription from Magazines Direct’s side WITHOUT any form of communication or email notification to myself, the customer. Only after I emailed them to enquire about the magazines that have not been delivered, was I informed of this ludicrous handling of a simple administration issue of a lazy postal deliverer. Are you serious? They are so bad!!

MagazinesDirect did not refund me

MagazinesDirect closed Linux Format magazine prematurely and promised to refund my remaining balance (€18.38) within 10 working days via my original payment method (PayPal). That refund never came. Then they said they could no longer use PayPal and demanded my bank details. I sent them, waited the 14 days they asked for – still nothing. Now they’re asking for a recent bank statement. In my view, they are simply stalling and are not an honest company.

Terrible business practices

This company has terrible business practices. It’s easy to subscribe to a magazine online, but cancelling is deliberately difficult. You have to call two separate numbers, wait on hold each time, and deal with agents who try to talk you out of it. They claim it’s about good customer service, but it’s clearly a tactic to stop you from cancelling. This shouldn’t be allowed.
