Bought a 7 day timer from Screwfix tried to set it to manage my outside Xmas lights.
What a total load of crap????

Jesus, I just wanted a timer to switch on the Christmas LEDS over the mantle.

I did not need to back to school to understand the settings on this piece of mystery which cost me E 20.00 on line.

Maybe a tech head, or egg head, would love it, as for me it's going in the bin.

My advice, choose something more user friendly and not this Spanish piece of junk. Trying to post a pic. of the instructions.

MASTERPLUG basic cheap 4 socket extension.
After a couple of months the heat build up around the socket badly burn the material.
Lucky there was no fire ...

EV Car Charger - Pin sheared off, escalated to Gareth Yeomans but just kept to the script that "it was over the 12 Month Period". It last under 2 Years - a £180 Car Charger. They wouldn't take it back for repair or offer anything as a gesture of goodwill. Pretty poor policies & customer service.

I bought a Master Plug Adaptor with two USB charger sockets from Wickes. Within a couple of months both USB charge ports failed. Very poor lifetime and I no longer trust any Master plug products

Masterplug 10m extension reel stop working. Purchased in April 2021. Covered by a 5 year warranty. So far, so good. However, terms of warranty are that customer has to pay to return the item to Masterplug, and prior to that, must obtain a returns number, via a premium telephone number. Given these conditions, it is not worth claiming under the warranty - obviously meant to put customers off. Shall not be buying Masterplug products in future. They obviously do not value customers!

I am having the same problem with the 3-way switched adaptor - the middle switch fails because it is poorly made. I have had numerous of these fail, and most where the switch is not even used. If Richard Crooks can make contact with me, I'd like to take this up with Trading standards.

Another time the "push-fit" wires on a garden extension lead pulled out exposing live wires and tripping my elections - causing me to be without internet for a week due to the trip blowing my Router.

I also have a multiple with USB charging points, and I was told that it's not designed to charge my 5 year old phone.

All the company is interested in is asking whether I have a receipt, not the fact that these failures leave live wires / connections exposed posing a risk of electric shock.

Total Landfill because of poor construction.

The extension lead I purchased is excellent, the issue was with applying for the warranty and the lack of customer service.
You have to change the product code in order to get your product shown on the portal, but no matter how much I tried changing it my lead didn't show.
I sent them emails and left a voicemail asking for assistance but heard nothing back at all. Eventually I called them again, this time getting to through and speaking to a guy who was very helpful, who informed me I actually had to change one of the numbers! I've now managed to get the warranty but still unsure if it's for the correct product, as something similar but not exactly the same came up on the portal.

On 7th July 2019 I purchased a Masterplug MSWG3 Three Socket Surge Protected Adaptor with Individual Switches. Today when my wife pressed one of the switches it just broke off. The switches are only used occasionally and the adaptor is only used in one location in our kitchen. When I examined the broken switch the thin plastic switch case had broken at the point where it pivots in the adaptor body. I would be interested to know if there have been other instances of this component failure and whether the design has been changed. I have kept the broken parts if Masterplug wish to examine them

Any enquiries to head office are just ignored. If they can't even be bothered to answer, doesn't set a good precedence for the rest of the company.

In April 2021 I bought 4 Wessex security lights (manufactured by Masterplug) from Toolstation in Poole.  With 3 of the units, the ones without a PIR function, there has been no problem.
The unit with the PIR, a 30 Watt LED item, the PIR function became erratic and failed after 6 months, to be fair they replaced it without any fuss in September 2021... but...
The replacement unit worked well until late August 2022, when that again displayed the same symptoms, i.e. the timing section of the PIR staying on for up to 90 minute.
On the 17th October 2022 I returned this faulty unit to the Toolstation outlet in Poole.The lady who dealt with the problem, Charlotte, was charming and as helpful as she could be... 'Sorry, but the original item was purchased over 12 months ago, and here in store we cannot help you.  Contact head office in Bridgewater.'This I did, but they have chosen to not respond, how do we cope with such wonderful customer service?Whilst in Wickes store where Toolstation is located, I bought another make of security light to replace the latest Wessex unit which had failed. The make of the new unit is Luceco... and made by Masterplug. Surprise, Surprise, it is the same item as the Wessex with only the name changed!!!
I used the Wessex/Luceco website to inform them of the problem, but exactly the same quality of service has been experienced, yes, no response whatsoever!!!!One really can only measure the quality of a Company's service when there is a problem, by how they attend to this.Sorry Toolstation and Luceco, you have both failed miserably!  Thanks to Trustpilot, I can advise the buying public, their customers, of their awful service.

Extention lead manufactured week 23 in 2016 and purchased from b&q in 2017 and used to supply washing machine and tumble dryer. 13 amp fuse fitted to supply plug on manufacture failed to protect after 6 years and has allowed plug to start melting. Fortunately spotted before it actually caught fire. Thought masterplug was good make but now see that products are made in China which is not mentioned on labels as, had I known, I would never have purchased having previously had a Chinese electrical product that was unsafe.

Bought an RCD plug from them it nearly burnt my house down, plug melted into the socket I spoke to a manager from master plug he blamed everything apart from their product, he said it’s the wiring or the product itself and would not listen to a word I said, issue went on for months funny I’ve put a normal plug on now and had no issue with this company passing the buck, he also offered me a USB adapter as a good will gesture 3 months on no adapter this company offers poor products and is untrustworthy, stir clear if you like your home. Master plug I WILL BE ADVERTISING PHOTOS OF YOUR MELTING PLUG ON SOCIAL MEDIA

switches on extension lead broke after a couple months. Refuse to turn off. Extension leads cheap and nasty. So cheap I thought maybe Chinese knockoff until compared with items in retail shop. Their products used be solid, since taken over by Luceco gone downhill.

I bought a 3-socket extension lead made by Masterplug. It was in my son’s bedroom. He was charging his laptop and mobile phone when he saw flames. Luckily, he switched the electricity off at the wall and shouted for his dad. The middle switch on the extension lead was completely burnt away and the smell of burning plastic was awful. If he hadn’t been in his bedroom at the time, it could have caused a house fire.

I bought a Musterplu RCD SAFETY ADAPTOR which was faulty (it never worked).
I contacted Masterplug's Customer Service & Technical support, and I have spent more than an hour on the telephone.
I explained the problem but Masterplug were not really interested neither for the faulty item nor the company's reputation nor the brand .

Judging from products I purchased, this company's marketing is grossly dishonest and misleading.

They fail to make any mention of the critical facts that a) their surge protectors don't protect your equipment from thunders (which is the default expected function!) and even worse b) that their limited connected equipment warranty does not cover damage from thunders.

YOUR EQUIPMENT IS COMPLETELY VULNERABLE TO THE NUMBER ONE CAUSE OF DAMAGE (THUNDERS)

but you will not know about it until you have read the thin letters in Masteplug's Claims page. Oops! Too late.

All documentation (packaging, included leaflet, product webpage etc) consistently fail to mention any of this critical information.

They also fail to mention either what their surge protector products can protect against or what they can't protect against.

This is FALSE ADVERTISING through careful omission of critical information.

I am currently waiting on a reply from Masterplug to hear their view on these accusations and I will update this review accordingly.

Very convenient, great materials used, like it a lot. You wont be disappointed
