I know I won’t be hunting for movers…

I know I won’t be hunting for movers next time I need one – I’ll just dial Moving Nation’s number. Their 5-star service really is way beyond the norms for the moving industry. They manage to pack it all in for a very affordable budget, too. 5 stars from me.

I hired Moving Nation to move a studio…

I hired Moving Nation to move a studio apartment from Florida to New York. The worst thing about hiring them is realizing that you wasted so much money on crappy movers before. Believe me, these guys are easily the best in business considering their very medium-level pricing but top-level service.

I do my research before every move and…

I do my research before every move and Moving Nation wins for service and pricing every time. Our third move (from TX to NC) using this company was just as good as the first two. Always shop around but the odds are you’ll find Moving Nation has the best prices for the quality.

We moved from Virginia to Georgia for work and had to pack up a 3-bedroom house so we called in the experts. There is no better word for the movers at Moving Nation – they know everything there is to know about the business and did as perfect a job as possible.

Moving Nation helped us move a big…

Moving Nation helped us move a big 4–bedroom family home in Florida to a smaller 2-bedroom house in Maryland plus move my kid to his college accommodation at the same time. Really, a rather complicated move which was organized, coordinated and executed very well by the movers and their office team over the course of a couple of weeks. My husband and I are suitably impressed by not just the skill and expertise of the entire team but also the sheer determination with which they managed to keep to the schedule despite disruptions in terms of road closures and some unhelpful weather.Their packing service is a godsend. Because the huge amount of time it would have required for non-professionals like us to do, we paid for them to do it. Most of this stage of the work was done in advance of the move and just really the essentials left over for the moving day itself. The men were good enough to use extra padding etc. for all the fragile and semi-fragile objects and furniture. I believe they also packed them in some way that made things less likely to break, which they explained to us and I did not quite understand even though it made sense at the time. Either way, the end result was that everything arrived safe and sound.
For the professionalism and skill of the movers and the excellent coordination by their head office, Moving Nation gets 55 stars from my husband and me.

Avoid. Bait and Switch pricing, poor packing and communicationMy move with Moving Nation cost me 46%…

My move with Moving Nation cost me 46% more than their estimate, an additional $3400. In addition, it was the worst move I have experienced. I have moved 6 times in the past 12 years, so I am familiar with the routine things that can go wrong, but this was much worse. There was bait and switch pricing, horrible packing, and poor communication. The support team doesn’t work on weekends.

I attempted resolve the issues after the move, with detailed documentation. After repeated attempts to contact them, I was told to work with a 3rd party to resolve it. When I completed that process, I was told Moving Nation no longer had a contract with them. I notified Moving Name several times, with no response.

Move
This was a full pack move of a two bedroom house from California to Washington state in early Oct 2020. I spent early Nov to January trying to get a resolution with Moving Nation.
Cost
• The original estimate was based on a verbal walkthrough. I keep a list of furniture and the furniture sizes because I’ve moved so much. I gave accurate list of items and pointed out that we had more books and art than most households, giving details.
• Five days before the move, a person from The Moving Nation reviewed the items to be moved, and “discovered” that many items I had listed previously weren’t included in the estimate. The price was raised by $1600. On the day of the move, after packing, we were told we exceeded cubic feet limits, and the price would be additional $1800.

Packing
The packing was very bad. Here’s a small sample of packing issues.
• Part of the reason the cubic feet increased is that furniture wasn’t disassembled, and that there were boxes contained one lamp shade, or one power cord and small umbrella. In addition, the team used a lot of wardrobe boxes, and did things like put a microwave oven on top of a Roomba docking station, and a sewing machine on top of leather shoes.
• Despite the fact I’d called out that I had a lot of art, they didn’t pack it properly, stuffing framed pictures into boxes with Christmas ornaments. The pictures weren’t even wrapped in paper. I pulled an oil painting out of a box that also had laundry supplies.
• Packing tape was applied directly to an antique desk, and it was put in a wardrobe box.

Communication
• Move out was supposed to be Day 1 to pack, Day 2 to load the truck. Instead, pack team arrived in the afternoon of Day 1, and said they were going pack and load in one day. They didn’t finish til 9 PM. Rushing to do two days’ work in one day probably contributed to bad packing and increase of cubic feet, leading to my additional cost.
• No useful information on move-in date. The tentative move-in date was Oct 10. On the Oct 8 I contacted The Moving Nation to see if that was the date. The next day I was told “I haven't heard anything yet”. Later the same day I asked again and got no response. Oct 10 was a Saturday. I called and emailed repeatedly asking if the move-in was happening. I was unable to contact anyone from the Moving Nation from Oct 9 til Oct 12 to get a status on move-in date. I was told “We don’t work weekends”. Not getting an update on the status of the move-in date is completely unacceptable. I understand the date can shift, but to not tell me what the status is completely unacceptable. We waited for the movers all day on the original date and had to scramble to get lodgings each day when we had no additional information.

I could go on for a long time about the issues, but the takeaway is to avoid this company. They do a poor job at a high cost.

Horrible & thieves!

Horrible & thieves!! They over charged-the old bait & switch. Broker tells you one thing & then the price is 3xhigher. Belongings arrived damaged badly, broken or missing. Over $100,000. Loss. Forget trying to file a claim complete waste of time.

Broken furniture and valuables

The sales folks seemed nice so I selected them even though their quote was 3 times higher than others because they promised to care for my valuable furniture. However, during the delivery I counted 17 pieces of furniture totally broken and many unrepairable, to include many chairs, chest and dresser legs broken off, several crushed in furniture fronts and tops; some broken mirrors, china, lamps, wood tables, and more. Over 2 dozen packed items were broken including vases, crystal, china and other valuable pieces. Some items were packed in boxes with no wrapping of any sort so that things got crushed and broken. I saw a TV and mirrors drop off the truck to the ground during unpacking. The claim form process is not working for me as the links don't seem to get me to a place where I can submit a form.

This is the moving company nightmares…

This is the moving company nightmares are made of. The sales department told us everything they knew we wanted to hear and did the exact opposite. We had our first quote done by phone. I walked room by room measuring and describing every item and box count. The first quote was given and deposit made. No turning back. We received a call from a customer service rep and I use that term only because I’m being nice. We went back through the items over the phone and I was told it would be $1900 dollars more than the original quote. She made it clear that the sales people sometimes don’t do the best job estimating. Really??!! I was also told I would lose my deposit at this point if I backed out. I called customer service daily because they could never give me a definitive date for pick up. Finally, the night before we received a call that they would be there the next day. Saturday October 3rd. Now if you have read any of the other reviews you know what happens from here. They brought a small box truck and after loading it half full told us the price had to be adjusted. Of course it did. So from the initial quote we are now $5000 higher. So off goes all our worldly belongings to get this, a storage facility. Our items were supposed to be in Mississippi by Friday the 9th. We received most of our items yesterday the first of November. Antiques have been damaged, tv stand disappeared, all the legs for my sofa are gone. The legs to my antique desk are missing. Two legs broken off of another sofa and various large items missing. A large fountain, now how on earth they misplaced that is anybody’s guess. An antique love seat, a very expensive Basset recliner, a wing chair, a chaise lounge and our bbq grill. Not only have they lied about everything from when we would receive our items, the cost of the move and even when the movers left California but now we are being told they will let us know if they find our missing furniture. REALLY??!!! They are a nightmare!!!

The worst...

Definitely wouldn't recommend using them - they refuse to follow state guidelines for mask wearing, don't assemble furniture even if you've paid for it etc. And afterwards, if you call customer service, they won't pick up.

After reading another negative review about Moving Nation our concerns about where our belongings are or if we are going to see them again is on hight alert.
We have been in our new home for 42 days no furniture.
We have been told that the truck was packed and ready to travel on three different occasions only to find out that it was a decietful lie by the customer service department.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!

I wish I could go back in time and…

I wish I could go back in time and erase all the times I used movers other than Moving Nation, some who were scam artists and others who were just hopelessly clueless part-timers. By contrast, here you get consummate professionals who know the ins and outs of moving houses. Let me just be clear that Moving Nation does not come cheap like the part-timers I mentioned. If you want to compromise professionalism for economy, these guys are not for you. But in return you get hard workers, dedicated support and actual competence. Your choice.

Moving Nation is not a valid, legal company

Moving Nation is not listed with the Secretary of State of CA. Nor with any other State.
Moving Nation LLC was cancelled as a company in CA in 2015.
Moving Nation has Trust Pilot icon on their website but it goes nowhere when you click on it.
Moving Nation took my money ($4,400) on Sept 5th 2020 and my household goods on Sept 8th 2020. They were to deliver everything to TX by Sept 18 2020. It is Oct 16 2020 and it has not arrived.
Don't believe the positive reviews. They are are shallow and are "set up." Most of the reviews from actual customers are negative.
Beware of this company and do NOT use them.

This company is a nightmare

This company is a nightmare! Delivery is supposed to be on September 25. Today is October 14 and Customer Support (Tina) cannot tell us when our delivery will arrive. She keeps saying, they will let us know 24 hours before it arrives. They cannot even track where the truck is. This is not how you do business! We’re now at their mercy. We do not have anyone to escalate the problem to except Customer Support, Tina, who cannot tell us anything. This is a real nightmare!

Disappointing & Stressful

The start was good. They were responsive, showed up at the time they said and then the nightmare began. No one answered any of their listed phone numbers trying multiple times day after day. On the off chance I would get a live person, was told our load was going out, finally reached someone again to check on delivery time to find out it had not gone out and was still waiting to be picked up. It took almost 20 business days from the Los Angeles area to Denver CO when the agreed delivery time was 10 business days. When the office furniture arrived, many of the pieces were damaged, scratched and dirty. Some of the boxes were crushed and one box is missing. So unacceptable.

Moving Nation gave us a special…

Moving Nation gave us a special ‘piggyback’ discount that allowed us to save hundreds of dollars, which was really nice of them. The managers of this company are genuinely nice people. The movers work hard and do a great job. I am a guaranteed return customer.

I have used many movers in the US and outside the country but this is the first time I have been completely satisfied with the service I received. The best thing they have going for them is their honesty – their quote matched up with the final price I was charged.

Please beware of this company

Please beware of this company. They are a fraud and they extorted money from us. They are exactly what you read about on the internet when it comes to bait and switch.
They give you a low bid (From a super smoozer Eric), then the day of your move they show up late (6 hours), much smaller truck than Eric promised, loaded 1/2 of the truck, then surprise surprise, the loaders tell you that “Eric underestimated your load by 40%”! 40%?? Our estimate went from 13k to 19k! And we had several pieces of furniture that we gave away prior to the move that we’re on the original inventory that did not even need to be moved (but we still had to pay for). What are you supposed to do? Truck 1/2 loaded? You gotta sign their new contract (that’s extortion)! Then, despite our feeding and tipping the loaders, they left with that 1/2 empty truck, promised to come again the next day. When they arrived (3 hours late) two of the loaders constantly complained that they were tired and hungry! The movers fought with each other. They used foul language at each other. They arrived with the same small truck, they loaded into the night, needed me to set up lights and provide flashlights and then informed us that they still didn’t have enough room and they left a ton of stuff behind which we had to store. Even though we fed and tipped them again, they grossly mishandled our things in the dark and then they stole all of our flashlights! The Forman promised a rebate on the packing materials because we had done such a good job but you could not believe how they fought with each other over the tip. They said they would return in “4 or 5 days” to get the rest of our things but we had to vacate the property for the new incoming owners! We had no choice but to put those things in storage.
So, as a parting gift, they left a huge stack of all their remaining packing materials in our garage for storage and even crammed/tied our things outside the truck on the lift gate! BTW, Surprisingly, they did manage to send someone to pick up all their packing materials the next day and they also stole all of our brand new packing materials in the process.
So, call them? No return calls! Call them to ask what adjustment they would make for charging us so much and then leaving things behind? Reimburse us for stolen packing materials? Oh, “Nadine will call you”. Think she did even once? No way! Despite call after call after message after message, no return calls! These people are crooks!
And BTW, they do call to verify the load amount 4 days before the move but it is a sham. (All their contracts protect them. Deposit up front. 1/2 in check form at pick up. Then the remainder in cash at delivery!)
Now to be fair, an employee named Lisa did call 4 days before the move and she set up a time to talk but she did not keep the appointment. When she did not keep the appointment I called Employee Tina. “Oh, We don’t know where Lisa is! She will call when she comes in”. I talked to Eric and Nadine and gave them my best guess about the number of boxes. I’d never moved across country before. And I was nervous. They accepted my box guesstimate, “sounded right” and would tell Lisa.
Lisa calls two days later. No one told her anything. She said my box count seemed right. Then the aforementioned nightmare began.
Then in route, all I got was the runaround. Eric promised a semi truck would pick up my things initially rather than the small truck they sent and that they would have delivery of my things in “about 5 days”!
They arrived 13 days later.
The delivery crew needed to collect the entire remaining balance (of the 19k) in cash before they would bring my things into the house. They unloaded very professionally and apologized profusely at the incredible damage to beds, antiques and all kind of other things. Thousands of dollars worth of damage. The contracted delivery crew said everything was so “carelessly packed it was embarrassing”!
We were heartbroken. Despite that, we tipped generously, fed them and they were great but you should see the damage! Amazing.
So, once again, I left a nice message with Eric, Lisa, and Nadine to ask what we do? An inflated bill. Charged for furniture that they did not move and left back in California for me to store. Damaged and broken stuff.
Lies about the truck size. Lies about speed of delivery. Do you think we received a phone call back? No way!
We have now turned to the Federal Government and the credit card company that took the original deposit. We photographed and documented everything and have each lie documented.
They ruined our move. They could care less.
They extorted money. They stole our property. They refuse to return calls ( and I give you my word that there was not one rude or weird call from me). They are dodgers. They bait and switch and their internet reviews are fabricated. Please beware! Do not use this company. Please!

Worst Moving Company of All Time

This was the absolute worst moving company we've ever dealt with. The truck took a month to get to its final destination when we had an agreement for delivery within 10 days. When we called for updates, we had a 10% chance of reaching anyone in the customer service, delivery/pickup or accounting departments. We left several messages for weeks and never got a call back. We also had an agreement to pay the last two payments by credit card, then they reneged on the agreement and forced us to get cash or a money order for the final payment. The driver also showed up three hours earlier than the original arrival time and didn't speak english. He tried to charge us $150 per hour for waiting, which was their fault due to the last minute change in payment arrangements. Their customer service agents are extremely rude and I heard them cussing at the top of their lungs in the background on at least one occasion. Avoid this company at all costs!
