STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!
STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! BEWARE!!
***Edit: Moving Nation reported my review and had it taken down, because I mentioned the named of employees. So please, re-read my edited review that I tailored with the help of Trustpilot. Moving Nation will stop at nothing to keep folks silent who speak the truth about their company.**
***2nd Edit: Moving Nation (I will not be intimidated) reported my post again, because I described the job description.
We did a long distance move from west coast to the east coast.
The interaction you have with this company will start off good. But it will quickly decline from the initial low estimate they give you to sign up with them. Not only did we have problems with overcharges, but a huge delivery delay, new day-of-move charges, charges for tape (that is supposed to be included) and emotional abuse from a [person in a higher level] [name redacted, first initial comes after the letter M in the alphabet] and a regular worker [the name of Bart Simpson's sister]. They don't answer the phone, they took 3 weeks to get us a [person at a higher pay rate I'm assuming] and I have 17 emails with a [person at a higher pay rate I'm assuming] who didn't try to deescalate the situation at all, or help. We were not allowed to read the contract we signed the day of our move, and were threatened that our items would be left behind (literally in the street at that point) if we didn't agree to a higher charge and sign the contract without reading. We have contacted BBB [they refused to answer BBB] and DOT [investigation is ongoing]. Hopefully someone holds this company accountable. We have damaged good and missing boxes. Instead of trying to find the boxes and furniture that is missing, [person at a higher pay rate I'm assuming] [named removed, but she's the only one and reports directly to the owner, or so she told me] emailed us the claim form and told us we have 9 months to fill it out. Not one mention of trying to locate the missing items. When we asked to speak with someone higher than [person at a higher pay rate], she said the only person higher is the owner, and refused to give their information.
I'll end with this: the next to last phone call we had with [name removed, but has the same name as Bart Simpson's sister] (who also works in the customer service department, as well as disputes, they all seem to hold many hats), she screamed at the top of her lungs and told me, "we never lose!" Is that the type of company you want to trust with your most precious things?
Please, PLEASE - don't trust this company.
Duplicate positive reviews! Employee called me and left angry voicemail after reading my TRUTHFUL review!!
I am a single mom with very little money who had to move from California to Georgia. When I called for a quote, I was routed from one salesperson (who basically was screening calls) to another salesperson, who kept me on the phone for two hours and seemed very empathetic to my situation. He took a list from me over the phone of the items I needed to have moved.
RED FLAG - I never sent in any photos, and nobody ever came to my home to view my belongings, to give me as accurate an estimate as possible. It was all based on the information I provided over the phone.
RED FLAG - During that initial call, I was given a really good (low) quote, and then placed on hold. The salesman came back on the phone and apologized and told me he had misquoted me, and my estimate would be several hundred dollars higher.
RED FLAG - The salesman told me that X would be calling me five days before my move to go over my original list of items and finalize the 'binding' estimate, and that if I exceeded the number of boxes I'd guessed that I would need, or added anything else, my estimate might increase. I was already going to be charged an extra $600 to move a small motocross bike and electric scooter.
Additionally, for a move that was going to cost me more than $4,000, the salesman on that first day collected an $851 deposit. It was refundable as late as seven days prior to my scheduled move date. This seemed excessive, as the first mover I contacted requested a $100 deposit. The salesman at Moving Nation told me that "no reputable mover" would charge so little for a deposit.
X began calling and leaving voicemails to verify my list of belongings two days before X was supposed to. I felt very pressured and stressed out, trying to get everything packed and ready to go a week before my move, in order to get as accurate of a last-minute estimate as possible from Moving Nation.
When I did speak to X, X was rude, condescending, and rushed-sounding. When I told X how overwhelming this process was for me as a single mom, X snapped back about how X was a single parent supporting kids and not complaining about it. I couldn't believe any company would have such an individual dealing with customers. I am not the first person who was treated so poorly by X that I felt it necessary to mention X in my review of Moving Nation.
RED FLAG - When I questioned X about why X hadn't requested photos of my items, including a grandfather clock, X got really agitated and said, "Is your grandfather clock bigger than a coffin? Because unless it is, then we have no issue." X then tacked on another $600 to my estimate because I had more boxes in my inventory than I thought I would when I initially called. In addition, X told me that the actual movers would count my boxes and check all of my inventory, and might ask for MORE money on moving day if things weighed too much or the count was off. I was told that I had to pay the balance of my estimate to the movers IN CASH when they dropped my belongings off to me in Georgia.
After this conversation, I went back and looked again at Moving Nation reviews and found that, just as I was beginning to worry, people were being forced to pay thousands of dollars more in order to either get their items on the moving truck on the day of their move, or to get their items OFF the truck at their new homes.
This is why Moving Nation requires you to pay the movers in cash - they have to KNOW there is a strong likelihood that you are going to be hit up for more money. I've seen reviews by people who were forced to pay thousands of dollars more, on moving day when they had no other options.
Because I emailed X at Moving Nation to cancel six days prior to my move instead of seven days, I lost my entire $851 deposit. I find it to be deplorable that they didn't even offer to give me a partial refund. Instead, I got an email response that I wasn't entitled to any refund, but that I could call X to "discuss."
So even though I never used their services (I went with PODS instead), Moving Nation still made $851 off of this single mom, without lifting a finger. I am sure a lot of their income is generated through their seven-day cancellation policy.
I am disputing the $851 charge thru my bank.
Edited to add: X at Moving Nation read my original review and left an irate voicemail on my cellphone, denying that X had said the things that X had said - just solidifying the lack of professionalism I dealt with and mentioned in my original review, which by the way X had removed because I identified X by name.
Please don't ignore red flags when contacting movers. Please read all negative reviews, and check positive reviews for duplicates. If I had done so, I would never have called Moving Nation to begin with. It's beyond deceptive and also a Trustpilot violation to pad your reviews with fake praise in order to generate business.
The moving crew that was allocated to…
The moving crew that was allocated to us did an excellent job and they are the main reason that I am writing this review. They did an initial assessment when they arrived and compared it to the information that I had given their office when I first booked the move. There were no major changes from that so I was informed that the original quote stood, which I am very pleased about since their competitive price was the main reason that I decided to go with them in the first place. The next step was the packing which they started on right away. I didn't see anyone from the team slacking or wasting time. When I overheard their conversations, it was always about how to best carry something or which item to load first, etc., no idle talk. Basically, once they got into work mode, they just went all out to ensure they did the job right, quickly and safely. I really like that attitude.I don’t know how they did it but my old home was really full of stuff, all three bedrooms, halls and kitchen, and they still managed to clear it all out and load it into their truck within the space of a few hours. I was actually afraid that they had underquoted the time required and would maybe jack up the prices when it went over. Fortunately, the only trick they had up their sleeve was the magic they pulled in getting the job done so fast. Our new home in Florida is on 2 floors and so the movers had to work doubly hard to get the things into the right rooms. It was definitely difficult to walk up and down the stairs so many times carrying so many heavy things but they soldiered on, no questions asked. A tough bunch of guys, really. They finished the move in less time than they had done the packing and I am very happy with the service and the price I was charged for such a big job. I would use this company again and have no qualms recommending them to the world.
If you are a stickler for timing like…
If you are a stickler for timing like me, this is the only company that won’t have you tearing your hair out. This was the third time that I used them but since they have been so consistently good, I don’t see any reason to switch in the future, either. We planned our move months in advance but I stayed up the night before unable to sleep because of the stress. It was only when they turned up and started their practiced ritual of sorting and arranging that I settled down. By the time everything was loaded, I had remembered the two previous moves they did for us and relaxed.Delivery in Maryland was done pretty much dead in the middle of the slot they had given us, nothing broken or lost. They handled all out things with care and did a fantastic job overall.
Moving Nation understands how stressful…
Moving Nation understands how stressful moving time is for most people and their assistance during our move made a chaotic and confusing time much more bearable. For that, they have my strongest recommendation. My story: A good promotion uprooted me from Kansas where I have lived for 17 years and plonked me down in California, which I haven’t even visited before. But to complicate matters, I was required to turn up within 2 weeks. Fortunately, Moving Nation empathized with my situation and gave me a massive discount on a piggyback move within the window I had to travel.Once they came into the picture, everything just fell into place. I arrived ahead of time to take over the manager’s position and they delivered our things on a weekend so my husband didn’t have to handle it alone. I don’t think I could ever recommend any other moving company!
Terrible is an understatement
Terrible is an understatement ! I called the night before to confirm. Didn't show up! They literally stiffed me on moving day! Sent guys with NO truck, and NO packing material, NO uniforms, NO business cards, NO ID, who offered to buy their own packing material right then and have ME rent a U- Haul .. if I would have wanted to rent my own U-Haul truck, I wouldn't have hired a moving company. Can you say SCAM??? When I went outside to tell the guys I couldn't get a hold of the company, they were gone. The office hung up on me 5 times when I called customer service, left me on hold multiple times and I called the salesperson over 20 times from 3 different phones.. I cant believe they have 4 stars????? I ended up having to get another moving company and cancel my deposit on my credit card. Eric was initially a great salesperson but refused to take my calls, texts, or emails after this happened. DON'T USE this company!! No one has even heard of this company!
Me experience with Moving Nation was a pleasure and would recommend them to everyone
Me experience with Moving Nation was a good experience. Even tho I got separated they helped me out and even went out of there way too make me feel better. I would recommend them to anyone
USE THIS MOVING COMPANY AT YOUR PERIL!!
USE THIS MOVING COMPANY AT YOUR PERIL!! THIS IS THE WORST MOVING EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD, OUT OF PROBABLY 30 MOVES IN MY LIFE.
They up-charge constantly, for things explicitly covered with the sales guy up front. Once they have you over a barrel, they keep coming up with things to charge more for, when you have no choice. This is definitely headed to small claims court.
They’re rude, break things and then deny it.
DO NOT TRUST THE SALES PEOPLE UP FRONT!!!
An Ode to the World's Worst Moving Company
Hello dear reader, I pray listen well –
and bear ye witness to my tale of woe;
of movers whose help was a living hell,
and for whom there is no rating too low.
My ask was simply to just use one truck,
and to this one request they did agree.
But once cash changed hands, I was out of luck;
instead of one truck, they would now use three.
I wish this lie would also be the last,
But beyond lying, they also weren’t fast.
I called to complain, three trucks would not do.
“Too bad,” they said, “you signed and you agreed.”
What their salesman said mattered not, I knew,
Phone conversations leave nothing to read.
Lo, they did say they recorded all calls!
So I bid them play our conversation,
And hoped they did not have me by the balls.
But, alas, I found more consternation.
The files, it seemed, were all there - except one.
“It’s unplayable,” claimed Moving Nation.
Three hours we spent, arguing on the phone;
But customer service refused our pleas.
“We’ve got you now,” said the rep’s icy tone,
“You’ve no choice but to pay our surprise fees.”
At this point despair started to begin.
With less than seven days until the move,
Our contract made it clear - we were locked in.
We told ourselves things can only improve.
Unfortunately, this was just the start.
There’s worse yet to come, but that’s the next part.
At least the movers came on the right date,
Though they did give a two hour time line,
And arrived forty and five minutes late.
They packed our things, and again made us sign.
We should have known, by this point in the tale,
To expect trickery to be in play,
They used fine print to change the terms of sale,
And increased costs which we then had to pay.
“The worst’s done,” we thought, but we were naïve.
Now they had our stuff. There’d be no reprieve.
Moved into our new place, yet without stuff.
We called about our delivery date.
As you expect, the news we got was rough.
Our things may come up to thirty days late!
Ten days, contract said - thirty's too delayed!
But no, the fine print snuck something in deep.
Their receipt stated, beyond that we paid,
“ONE MONTH ‘fore we’d have our bed back to sleep.”
Cared not what they said during their sales pitch
It’s just their M.O. to bait and then switch.
Disney was planned, but they cared not for me.
Asked if they expected us to postpone,
They said, “Hope not,” but gave no guarantee.
They told me that one reaps what they have sewn.
A month passed us, without our clothes or bed.
Phone calls showed they did not know when they’d come.
By now our hope for good service was dead.
Completely at their mercy, we were glum.
Fearing that they might want to punish us,
We grew meek, and did not put up a fuss.
Finally, our delivery day came.
It arrived over three hours late, mind you -
but of course they did not accept the blame
At least no shuttle was needed; that’s true.
Our fragile boxes all came rather squished.
Our bed and chairs were, of course, broken too.
They told us to report it if we wished.
WE would report it, to them and to you.
So noble reader, we draw near the end,
But don’t leave ‘fore I tell you of my friend.
This tale does not end with me and my things,
It’s not just me that was duped by these crooks.
They lost my wife’s crafting box and some strings,
And gave us someone else’s photo books.
Some wedding pictures, and a child’s first steps,
All of this left with us without a thought.
We found names and called the company reps,
We knew the owners must be quite distraught.
Moving Nation did nothing; one more fail.
We found the owners, and sent it by mail.
And so it ends, this moving tale of woe,
With every moving fear all come true,
My things broken and lost; my spirits low,
Few recourse options, but I could review!
Please heed my warning, whoever you are,
Do not listen to their saccharin lies
For the worst; Moving Nation sets the bar.
It was so bad, I hope their business dies.
I have nothing more to say or to tell.
Moving Nation, you can go straight to hell!
If I was able to submit a lower review
If I was able to submit a lower review, I would. I was subjected to a bait and switch. The sales rep did not include items on the verbal walk through of my home. Conveniently, in the quote you sign away the legal right to a walk through quote which many states require by law- and the call in NOT recorded. A week from moving day as I was required to do a final review of items I was to be charged an additional 2700 ( 50% more in price regardless if I chose not to move an entire rook from my first quote. Additionally of note, gas is less than 1/2 the price of when I was originally quoted. Furthermore, when I made an issue of this problem I was told I lied about the contents of my house and that the manage/owner refuses to speak to ANY customer- ever. They required a down payment which I now understand is not traditionally required from reputable movers and was threatened both with assuming another $500 fee if I took legal action to get it back and that “no one has ever won against us” when they attempted to reacquire their deposit. This company is deceitful at very best. Unethical no matter what way you view them and completely unprofessional. I would never, ever work with them or recommend the.
This was not my first time paying for…
This was not my first time paying for professional movers but it was definitely the first time I got a team of movers who were actually professionals. The job was to transfer everything from my old 3-bedroom house to a bigger 4-bedroom one in Columbus, which is definitely a large job. Fortunately, the team from Moving Nation was not only up for the job but handled it smoothly and faster than I have ever seen movers work. Still, they were careful and made sure that nothing was damaged or broken. I am very happy with the whole experience.
We had terrible experience
We had terrible experience. They keep postpone the pickup and drop off dates. We expected to receive our luggage in 3 days as Per the agreement, but we may receive in more than ten days after the pickup. Do not rush to accept any agreement without reading. We are not happy with these movers had difficulty time in new apartment with two small kids with no lauggage. Horrible ... no commitment. Not sure our lauggage is safe yet
A losing combination of incompetent and…
A losing combination of incompetent and dishonest. The positive reviews are plants-several are identical if you take a brief look thru them. We are ex-military and have experienced many moves. Avoid this company, initial seemingly good price will rapidly escalate and exceed cost of more established companies. For accurate inventory, we walked through our house with one of their employees who took notes, videos, photos, gave a written “not-to-exceed” of 3000 cubic feet, and a verbal estimate of 2500. On moving day, our estimated cubic footage increased to 3400. In addition, we were told our wine could not be moved, despite their employee having photographed it and describing how it would be packed. Problems upon delivery with poor communication, two of the locally-hired movers quit midday after a dispute with Moving Nation. Not much different from a broker, which they claim will “ruin your life”, as many of the people involved were not employees but contractors. Customer service is filled with disagreeable characters, who after admitting they made mistakes, rudely told me they had gone “above and beyond” with our move by doing what they initially agreed to do. In addition, it was difficult to find a third party company to insure your goods as Moving Nation is not established enough. Avoid at all costs.
The only reason I ended up deciding to…
The only reason I ended up deciding to use Moving Nation was that the sales manager gave me a really attractive deal when I told him about their competitor’s prices. While the cost was lower, I think the quality of service that Moving Nation gave me was possibly higher than I would have got from the other companies. Specifically, they were prompt with their loading and unloading and did the whole job without getting dings on either my walls or my stuff. I think that’s a great achievement. Will use again.

This is a company that deserves an award for how well they do their job. The good movers aside, the customer service and admin team is as professional as you would expect in a large multinational corporation – always prompt with their answers, tell you if they don’t know something but make sure that they find the info for you later. I have had some testy exchanges with other moving companies but I don’t think Moving Nation ever manages to make customers angry. I recommend this company highly.
The last time I used a moving company
The last time I used a moving company, I had such a terrible experience that I almost swore that I would never use movers again. A recent injury forced me to break my rule but now I am glad I did because Moving Nation is the polar opposite of what I thought all moving companies were like. Each person on their team is professional, polite, well-informed and qualified for the job they do. My 2-bedroom house was moved and I did not even have to lift a finger… which is a good thing since I am recovering from a broken hand.
We decided to use Moving Nation for our…
We decided to use Moving Nation for our move pretty much on the same day we first spoke to them to get a quote. While the other companies were vague and even evasive about how they calculated the final cost, the sales manager for Moving Nation was open and told us all we wanted to know. Basically, they are a high-quality premium service and will work well for anyone who prefers good service to just the cheapest deal. I think their competitors can learn a lot from them.
Do NOT use this company
Do NOT use this company! You will be sorry if you try to cancel. My husband called for a quote and talked to Trent. He provided my husband a quote. When my husband advised Trent we wanted to get other quotes and discuss our options, Trent convinced my husband that we could hold the date/ time and price by placing a deposit. Trent continuously said “don’t worry, you have 7 days to cancel”. Based on Trent’s explanation, my husband made a deposit payment. Later, we received and reviewed the inventory email and discovered that many items were missing from the quote. After reading other reviews, we became concerned and uncomfortable with allowing this company to handle our property. We decided to cancel. One business day (2 calendar days) later, my husband emailed Moving Nation to cancel, following the process required by the company. We received a cancellation confirmation email but no information about a refund. My husband called to ask about a refund and was transferred to a supervisor named John who advised we had missed the cancellation period. My husband told the John that Trent said we had 7 days to cancel and it had only been 2 days. John advised their policy is that cancellation must occur more than 7 days before the move date. This information was not shared during the call with Trent and, in fact, that initial call was less than 7 days before the move. Therefore, Trent should have advised we could NOT cancel at all without losing our deposit. When my husband questioned this, the supervisor began to scream and curse. Losing a deposit is bad but handing our property over to this company could have been far worse. Clearly, they don’t stand by their word and are out to make a sale in any means possible. Do yourself a favor, save yourself a huge hassle and keep your money safe by staying far away from Moving Nation!!!! They’re getting 1 star because there’s option to give ZERO.

This is THE WORST move I have ever had
This is THE WORST move I have ever had. The packers arrived at 11:45 am on a Sunday morning and left at 11:00 pm. They “forgot” to pack a pantry in our laundry room and a hall closet. I had a patio set of 2 chairs and a table and they “forgot” to pack the 2 chairs but packed the table???? We had a set of 8’ steer horns and they were destroyed at destination. I specifically asked them to pack my 7.5 Christmas tree from a shed in the backyard...they “forgot”. I had a lot of yard art in my front flower bed with solar lights that they hadn’t packed, so I reminded them they need to go, so they threw it all in a big cardboard box and half of it was broken at destination.
They packed my Mom’s antique carnival ware on the ‘bottom’ of the box, then put lots of heavy items on top of it and when I unpacked the box, half of the carnival was broke, and it was worth a pretty penny. Than You Moving Nation for caring so much.
The price they quoted me went up about 1200.00 ‘after’ the fact. Then when the delivery day came the 18wheeler truck couldn’t fit in our driveway, so they had to go unload all our stuff into 2 rented U Haul trucks, with an additional 1500.00 charge. Than you again Moving Nation.
If you can please use a “reputable” mover, like United Van Lines or Bekins. At the end of the day the price will be about even between a reputable and a non-reputable company, like Moving Nation.
The Customer Service was horrible, very uncaring about your personal stuff being destroyed, or being nice and polite.
If you can, Run away from Moving Nation.
They don’t even really deserve a 1 Star, but I wasn’t able to leave no stars.
Have a great day and stay away from MN.
