Dire value and food nearly as bad
We ere given a Xmas gift to the value of £100. For us what we got struggled to get to £20 for value.
Starter - basically fancy cheese on toast with some strong tasting leaf. 2 out of 10. Cheese had no taste and was dominated by the bread.
Main - steak - yep that was good. I didn't like the dry chips but my wife did. Paid extra for the leaf mixture. About £29 each in all each. Say 7 out of 10 but value 3!
I had a pud - bread and butter pudding with cream. Lidl do a better one. This was a cuboid lump with no raisins. Bland. 2 out of 10 for taste, 1 for value.
It is rare that we go out and find such a poor value establishment with food way way below expectation.
Oh the service was good - polite and professional.
So if you want to go somewhere with a big name and don't care about anything else you know where to book.
For interest this is the worst review we have given any hotel or restaurant.
Totally awful
Totally awful!
Pre booked a gluten free afternoon tea! Food was late as no gluten free options ready!
2 hours after eating I was violently ill sickness and diarrhoea. Missed the show I'd pre booked.
Complained to the restaurant, they couldn't give a stuff!
Afternoon tea at Birmingham
Afternoon tea at Birmingham is nothing special. Tea is served in chunky coffee mugs as an afterthought. Ordinary sandwiches and bland cakes.
Poor food and terrible value
Staying at the Oxford Jury’s Inn I decided to dine with my family at the in-house Marco Pierre White restaurant- what an expensive mistake!
Several examples. Plates were universally cold spoiling the food. My son asked for his to be warmed up and it was clearly simply put under the salamander because it came back on a red hot plate ruined. My granddaughter requested mushrooms on the side but they were all over and, being allergic, she was subsequently ill. I, on the other hand, requested mushrooms with my steak and was told they were not available!
I could go on but I will simply say avoid this chain !
Voucher without a table!
I would never ever buy a voucher from this company again, the company is totally unprofessional with no ethics. purely surviving on the MPW name but with the way they treat potential customers, that won't last long!
Mothers Day at Marco's...thanks for an awful experience
Recently had the misfortune of taking my mum there for Mothers day on the 27th March 2022..
This restaurant is without doubt the most poorly organised and mismanaged restaurant in the Midlands. Every single table within earshot of us was either complaining about the service, the delays for food or the blatant overbooking tactics that had been implemented that night..not to mention the 'Mothers Day Menu' that was withdrawn without notice to all customers after 6pm..despite this being displayed front and centre on their website..only to be replaced with an overpriced and underwhelming bargain basement quality alternative..with unbelievable delays for service of this said menu thrown in for good measure...if anyone Is looking for a terrible night, full of frustration, disappointment and a night you will never forget for all the wrong reasons, this is the place for you
Gift voucher
I purchased 4 gift vouchers for the resturant Birmingham. 3 I gave as gifts and have been redeemed. The final one was my treat for me and a friend. Booked 31st March 4pm as voucher expired then. Due to contracting covid 28th March I am unable to go
I have requested and extension or reissue of the voucher with MPW and rhe issuing voucher company sk chase all have refused to honour. Should I have gone anyway with COVID-19 or just been responsible and stayed away.
Not even worthy of zero stars …
If I could give zero stars that would be too high. Visited Cardiff MPW on 28.3.22. Food was very sub standard - steak awful, accompaniments very poor, did not stay for dessert as got fed up of waiting for mains to be taken away and based on quality of mains another course was not appealing - approx 1 hour wait for dirty plates to be cleared away, they were still there when we left the table, service shockingly poor and toilets truly filthy. I feel extremely sad for the family member who spent £50 of her hard earned money on a voucher for this ‘restaurant’. In my 50 plus years on this earth never experienced such a poor meal or shockingly poor service for the price. Evident from speaking with other guests in the restaurant that we were not alone in our disappointment/experience. Personally I will never step foot in a MPW restaurant again. I would far rather support a local independent restaurant which respects the money which their guests are paying and provides the level of service and quality of food commensurate to the same.
Hopefully MPW will improve on the service/quality and if not then I hope they meet the fate that they deserve on tonight’s performance. Customers deserve better.
TERRIBLE WORST NIGHT OUT EVER AND EXPENSIVE WASTE OF TIME
Where to start - Summary: All 4 of us were left fuming at the catalogue of disasters from start to finish - booked 7.30 - had to wait until 8.15 to be seated - we have trains to catch back so not a good start - rip off bar prices , shambolic service , Very average food and well over priced - ZERO service , had to fight to get attention , Bill came with lots of deserts on it - that we did not have - and now did not have time to eat - missed our train home - and for the kicker - My Birthday and the voucher i had been given was not accepted after 6pm !!!! I could go on but i am sure you get the idea - and it cost me £300 for the dis - pleasure and the embarrassment it caused dragging my friends there. NEVER AGAIN . I will also speak to my credit card company and be leaving more reviews about this terrible night - Not to mention telling anyone i can to avoid this crappy rip off experience.

Visited the Cardiff restaurant this evening, such a bad experience I would run out of characters to list them all.
How Mr Pierre can put his name to to this restaurant is beyond me.
Disappointing evening, as this was meant to be a celebratory meal.
Like Eating In A Train Station (Bridgwater)
Staff were setting up breakfast all around me at eight o'clock in the evening. I'm spending upwards of £100 on a meal and it's like sitting in train station. I didn't spend that much as I left before desert.
Complained to restaurant but the response was unsatisfactory, Marco Pierre website didn't even respond to my thoughts.
Marco Pierre White, Crowne Plaza Plymouth
Been here before & promised I wouldn't go back, previously terrible service. Got vouchers for Christmas so we booked a table. Greeted at the front desk, really polite & friendly. Was offered a choice of window seats with a great view. Once seated the waitress was over within minutes; once again really polite, friendly & informative. Waitress talked us through various options on the wine list & the food. We had Cocktails, Wine & 3 courses ...All the Food & Drinks were lovely, the Steaks were cooked to our liking & I had French Onion soup which was gorgeous. The only thing that was better than the Food was the exceptional service throughout... Happy Customer & glad we gave it another chance

Marco Pierre white at the Hilton north bridge Edinburgh is possibly the worst eating experience I have ever had , the food was shockingly bad ,the waiting staff were pretty poor to be fair which is something I did not expect to find ! I have seriously had better service and food in McDonald’s , we expected so much more Marco needs to get his house in order
Would’ve had better service at KFC.
Would’ve had better service at KFC.
Booked a table for 8pm (20/Feb), arrived to be told table wouldn’t be ready for 20 minutes.
Finally got sat down, nobody came over to take our order for a good 15 minutes.
Our meals came with 2 complimentary glasses of Prosecco - which we had to ask 2 separate servers for.
Ordered a side of onion rings and a side of macaroni cheese - the onion rings came out with the mains, the Mac and cheese we were under the impression would be just a second.
5 minutes passed so we finally asked somebody - who then told us they had sold out, which we complained that why were we never told.
We asked for a manager, 10 minutes later a server came over and informed us there wasn’t one on shift but he can send over a supervisor - another 10 minutes passed but still no sign.
Not a care in the world for the customer experience.
Terrible service
It looks like I should have checked on here before booking. I was in Sheffield visiting my son at Uni with my wife whose birthday was the next day so I decided to book somewhere nice. Around 24 hours after my initial enquiry, I was told the menu was a fixed 5 course for Valentine's. I was impressed with the price so went with it. For the first 45 minutes when the restaurant was quiet, I felt the service if not slightly over-cooked was pretty good. But once the mains arrived after this we might as well have been invisible. We were going to leave but the coffee did finally arrive but then had to wait far too long to catch someone's attention for the bill. When it did come I then had to go to the desk as no one came to me for 10-15 minutes. I might also add the the dessert was well over cooked. We mentioned this twice but nothing was done about it. Overall a shocking experience but made worse by the over bill with the service charge etc. I will never ever go to any of Marco's restaurants again.

I have never felt the need to write a bad review till now, whether it was wetherspoons or a high end restaurant. The service was awful in the Birmingham restaurant. Firstly lovely atmosphere at bar area had a couple drinks there the staff were great. The meal start with us asking for a glass of red and a glass of rose, 10mins later the red was put down just as I picked up the glass they poped down a bottle of white wine another waiter noticed this and without a word they took the glass out of hand and took them away. 10mins later the returned with the right wine, again they never said sorry about that as mistakes do happen but to not acknowledge is awful customer service. The starter came was nice enough, we thought maybe it was just a rough start. The staff we asked the staff for another drink, 30mins later the mains came, they asked if I wanted any sauce yo which I said yes please. The steak was over done I waited 10mins but then the food was getting cold, there were no staff in sight one finally passed I asked where was my sauce and wine again no apology just a nodd I told them forget the sauce now as I'm on my last couple of chips so it's pointless no acknowledge he just walked away. The head 9f house came over and asked if the meal was nice I told him the food was OK but the service has been awful he knocked 10% off which in Ernest is rubbish because I still paided £160 for a terrible service £16 does not make up for crap service. I would say to anyone thinking of eating here that the nice views don't make up for the terrible service there are 100's of great restaurants in Birmingham (gino's, fiesta del asado) don't waste an evening here.

I was on my way to join a cruise in Southampton and stayed overnight at the Rudloe Arms manor house, near Bath. I wish I had gone to Premier Inn. There was a 'special deal' of a night stay with a la carte dinner and full English breakfast for £150, for two. The menu offered for dinner was either a pie or something vegetarian, but if we wanted to eat a proper meal we had to pay an extra £50. The wine was nothing special except for the price; who expects to pay London prices in Wiltshire. The accommodation was some sort of hostel built in the grounds of the manor house, with ill-fitting windows and a bed so uncomfortable that it felt like a water-bed. Then to top it all the breakfast turned out to be extra payable as well. I wished I had gone to a transport cafe instead. The whole experience was a total rip-off. As a footnote, later that day I joined one of Fred Olsen's ships in Southampton and that evening I enjoyed a fillet steak which knocked the spots off Marco Polo's offering.

Well after posting on here and sending an email to the restaurant I am even more disgusted in this Chef's company cant even be bothered to respond to either.
It only takes two minutes to send an email and nothing. I would never ever put another penny in this mans pocket
Tried the restaurant in Dover
Tried the restaurant in Dover, excellent customer service. We had calamari to start with and then steak which was cooked and seasoned to perfection. We then sheared dessert chocolate mousse, the whole experience was worth the money.

We have no idea as booked for my partners 50th Birthday in December. Booked months in advance then they emailed 2 days before to say all booking cancelled due to a private party. Try booking a restaurant in Edinburgh at Christmas with two days notice. No apology.I was told to email complaints team. Still waiting a reply. Obviously we are not important as customers. Birthday plan ruined. Thanks a million.
