As a professional decorator, I like to make sure I am giving my customers a quality finish that will last, and as such, regularly test different manufacturers products to ensure I am providing the best, and I thought I was until I tried Mylands...
Wow... The ease of application, coverage, opacity, finish and durability are absolutely mind blowing throughout the full range! Applied both by brush and roller and by spray methods, it is an absolute joy to use! Yes, the price tag may be slightly more expensive than your ticket every day paints, but when you're taking a matter of pence per square metre, and you know you are guaranteed a top notch finish that will last, that price tag makes a lot more sense!
There's a reason I now solely use Mylands, and I hope to enjoy many more years of the same!

Using Mylands Plant based satin for old cast iron fireplaces 🔥
Using Mylands Plant based satin for first time as a pro decorator. Highly recommended by some of my deccie mates.
Wanted to initially spray two old cast iron fireplaces to restore due to time and filler not drying decided to hand paint them. Used a thimble full surprised at the opacity. Looking forward to trying other products. Wish I found Mylands years ago.

My disappointment was resolved
Update: Mylands contacted me directly following my 1* review, arranged collection and processed a refund promptly. While the shade didn’t work in my space, I appreciate the effort to resolve the issue.
Very disappointed in Mylands. Having used a number of paints from this company over the years, I was disappointed by Bloomsbury. It does not match either the swatch or the tester pot and is actually very lilac.
Customer services seems to be manned exclusively by one gentleman who is rude, dismissive and quite confrontational.
I shall not be buying from them again.

We’re very sorry to read about your recent experience, particularly as you’ve been a returning customer over the years.
Bloomsbury is a special shade, and while variations can sometimes occur due to lighting, surface preparation, or application method, it could be a result of applying it directly on a yellow substrate instead of using the recommended light grey primer.
Definitely, that’s not the experience we want for our customers.
We’re also especially disappointed to learn that you felt your interaction with customer services was rude or dismissive. This is not reflective of the standard of service we aim to provide, and we are sorry for the confusion.
We would welcome the opportunity to investigate this further and see if we can resolve the issue for you.
I believe, a collection of the paint has already been arranged, and it will be passed on to production to check its formula.
I will contact you separately to assist you further.

Great quality, great service
I've used Mylands a number of times now and can only say the speed of delivery and quality of packaging has been top drawer. The paint covers beautifully and I find I never need a 3rd coat, even if going from colour extremes.

If it ever arrives, I'll update this
I only ordered samples from this company, and thankfully my losses are minimal for this reason. I will not order anything more.
Unlike their peers, Mylands charges to deliver every sample; by contrast, Farrow & Ball delivery is free for every sample, Edward Bulmer offers free delivery with 2+ samples, etc. The delivery fee is relatively high, almost as much as the sample pot itself.
Considering this, the service is terrible. Day 5 and still no sample. If a little sample pot is this much trouble, God forbid I should order £200 worth of paint.
Spare yourself the anxiety (and money) and just get a colour match at B&Q.
If the sample ever arrives, I'll update this to add a star.
Update: Mylands processed a refund, though their claim DPD tried to contact me is untrue. Only they did. A week later, today, DPD show up at my door with the parcel (so there was no address issue, which I knew), which I refuse (so as to return to sender) as the refund has already been processed. What do they do? Leave it at a local parcel shop! Unbelievably bad (especially when paying for the privilege).
Added a star for at least processing the refund quickly.

Your order was despatched promptly, we did reply to your email within minutes when you contacted us, we did try calling you to assist you with your issue, and we were unable to get through.
We investigated the issue with your delivery, and we confirmed that your order was sitting with DPD because the delivery address provided for the order could not be found, and DPD have tried to contact you by email and SMS without a response from your end.
I can also confirm that the order has now been refunded.
I am very sorry that you didn't have the positive experience that our customers always have.

This is seriously good paint
This is seriously good paint. I bought enough for two coats but having now put up the primer and one coat of paint it feels like job done. Worth it for the price. Delivery was quick - quoted 2-3 business days and had it delivered the next day. Highly recommended!

QD kitchen and bathroom varnish unfortunately not fit for kitchen worktop
I used the QD kitchen and worktop oil on the advice of customer services for my hardwood vintage worktops.
I was advised at the time that the varnish was not fully heatproof so I bought a marble chopping board to put hot dishes etc on. The finished result was absolutely beautiful and I was initially pleased however unfortunately the worktop blistered badly when a visitor put cup of tea down momentarily on it. I am now faced with having to re-sand and revarnish my entire kitchen wortops (with a different brand) as the product is not atall fit for purpose.

Our varnish is designed to be heat-resistant to everyday use, but it is not fully heatproof, which is why our team advised using protective barriers for hot items. That said, a brief contact from a hot drink should not normally cause blistering, so this is certainly not the result we would expect.
We genuinely appreciate your feedback, as it helps us improve both our products and the advice we provide, and we’re sorry that this experience fell short of your expectations.

Great experience with Gemma and Mylands
We have had a fantastic experience using Myland's colour consultancy service. Gemma is amazing & nailed all of the colour choices, listening to our needs and working together to make sure everything was correct. Can’t thank Gemma enough for the colour…
Can’t thank Gemma enough for the colour consultancy - I’d painted myself into a figurative and literal corner and she was able to give me a handful of options, all of which would have worked beautifully! And just a word of note for anyone contemplating it - copying Mylands colours is an expensive mistake, I tried it and gosh what a waste of time and money. I get now that you’re paying for pigments and a depth of colour that you just can’t mimic with a cheaper emulsion copy. Now I LOVE the colours I’ve chosen, and the process of getting there with Gemma - like having a really knowledgeable friend hold your hand through the process!

Excellent service
Excellent service. Ordered paint charts (completely free of charge) very late one afternoon and they arrived the following day. Plus their paint is beautiful to work with. Applies like 'old school' oil eggshell unlike many other water based paints but obviously very environmentally friendly. Much appreciated!
