The sell by date is not clear. And this is something to think about when you shop. Before it was Christel now with the cut backs it's not. Also the soup that was is now so watered down it's just piss from an enploye. Never again will I buy this piss water that cat even do the decent thing with the sell buy date

I have always loved the Covent Garden vegetable soup and so when I saw it on special offer in Tesco I thought I would treat myself however I did not realise until I started eating it it had changed and not for the better. Although I could not say it was awful it is not the same and I will never buy it again. I also noticed that the container is smaller yet the calories have increased per portion even though the portion smaller??? They have obviously taken out the more expensive ingredients and packed it out with starchy cheaper ones.

Used to love the chicken soup, but the one I bought two days ago tasted weird, mostly felt like drinking chemicals. I thought I was going crazy, but after an online search it looks like I'm not the only one experiencing this.

The vegetable soup was tasteless and truly horrible. I had to add soy sauce to try to give some taste to this soup. I will never buy your soup again.

Shocker !! Have eaten CG chicken soup 4 x a week for last 5 years, when it changed I thought I’d just got a bad batch but no !!
Someone actually thought this was an improvement, absolutely inedible, gloopy and the taste is disgusting !
What have you done ?????!!!!

Absolute rubbish , wont buy any again

The cream of chicken soup is now absolutely rank. It used to be comforting and creamy & now it's grainy and 🤢
Whatever you've done change it back.

Covent Garden Soups used to be amongst the best. Not any more. The new recipes for Classic Chicken and Mushroom are terrible. Bland, with no discernible flavour of what they purport to be, and (in the case of the Chicken) with a gritty texture. Such a pity. I will never buy them again unless they radically improve.

I can’t eat dairy as I’m intolerant to it. Currently expecting to react to the ‘new’ mushroom soup as I bought it and ate about a third of a bowl not realizing the recipe has changed to include milk and cream…..Been buying it for years and only double checked ingredients as it tasted so different, very thin and watery. Guess they thought they’d save money with poorer ingredients. Cheers for that Covent Garden I won’t be buying that again.

New Covent Garden Soups have been my go to soup since the company launched back in the late 80s. However, the classic chicken soup I had today was frankly disgusting and a pale shadow of what has gone before. It's only when I did a bit of digging that I discovered the recent change to the formulation. I concur with some of the other recent Trustpilot reviews, and will definitely not be buying New Covent Garden products again. I remember seeing a tv programme on the founder many years ago, I'm sure he would be mortified by what has happened to the quality of the product.

Deterioration in quality of the Covent Garden Chicken soup. Used to be lovely. Now is bland, gelatinous and lacks any actual chicken pieces.

Picked up a carton of NCG chicken soup from Asda this morning for £1, thinking I was getting a good deal. I quickly realised it was too good to be true, with tiny chicken strands and multiple lumps of chewy connecting tissue. Eugh! Really not looking forward to the leek and potato that I bought at the same time.

New private equity owners Aurelius are clearly commited to maximising profit with no regard for quality. Shame on you!

The Classic chicken soup used to be my favourite. Reminded me of one my grandma used to make when I was a child. I just had it for the first time in a while and it has completely changed. The texture was awful and lumpy, the chicken pieces were completely dry and the soup itself didn’t taste of anything whatsoever, no flavour at all. Threw most of it away, will never purchase again. So disappointing when companies change recipes like this.

used to buy the leek and potato one all the time, lovely and thick, NOT NOW its watery and tasteless, absolutely disgusting, the square potato pieces are hard, bring back the old one, until then myself and others will not be purchasing it again

The change to the chicken soup is unforgivable, what was an authentically home-cooked tasting, rich and comforting soup is now just gruel. Disappointed doesn't come close.

Just had some Leek and potato soup - much too peppery, used to be a favourite. Wont be buying again.

Leek abd Potato is now revolting! Not edible, thin watery , and tastes very odd , certainly not of leeks .Not sure why, used to be absolutely delicious! Bought it for years , but recently changed , I can onky assume cost cutting, although leeks and Potato are hardly expensive! How has this happened? I've written to complain about the poor quality , bet they won't listen , it will be cheap ingredients but prices keep rising , either give us our lovely soup back or I stop buying any of your products, as I note many other people have the same issues about horrendous quality.

Bought a classic Chicken soup tasted like vegetable soup .Chicken content 6% lesson learned read ingredients before buying .

The recipe has changed
Brown rice added obviously to make it cheaper. Only 30% mushroom. Will not buy again. Quite tasteless.

They’ve changed the chicken soup from a lovely and tasty soup with chunks of actual chicken to a new version with a couple of strands of chicken and hardly any flavour. It’s also a weird darker colour now, I initially thought it was off! I’ll never understand why these companies mess with things that were good to begin with and make them worse. I won’t be buying any of their soups again until I find out that they’ve gone back to the original recipe.
