Fake heritage story
Fake heritage story, AI-generated marketing, and poor quality dresses that don't match photos!
I ordered 3 dresses from Nora Bruxelles, attracted by the brand story of a 20-year-old Belgian boutique with team photos, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and anniversary celebrations on their site and social media.
Product quality was very poor: Faded, washed-out colours compared to the product photos; No brand label, no fabric composition, no washing instructions on any of the three dresses; Sizing was wildly oversized for a "Small" — no shape or structure, described accurately as hanging like a sack; Nothing resembling the design/style shown in the listing photos.
Suspicious, I looked more closely at the site.
The "heritage" is fabricated. Every one of those photos shows clear signs of AI generation, with repeated/identical faces across supposedly different 20 years of events, and generic staged staff photos that don't correspond to any real store I could verify.
There is no legal notice, company registration, or physical address readily available on the site either.
Shipping is from China, not Belgium, despite the local, boutique-style presentation. My order shipped 4PX from China and took nearly 3 weeks to arrive, well beyond what the "Belgian boutique" framing implies.
Returns are designed to discourage you. Their policy requires returning items to a warehouse in Asia at the customer's own expense, with tracked shipping quoted between roughly €36-€70 — for three dresses that cost €134,85 total (after discount). In practice, this makes it financially pointless to return low-value items, since the shipping cost can exceed or wipe out the refund entirely.
Customer service (a "Sophie Laurent") was polite in email but firm that no prepaid label or shipping contribution would be offered, despite my request citing EU consumer rights.
Bottom line: attractive branding and a fabricated "family boutique" story hide what is, in practice, a low-cost dropshipping operation with no accountability for quality or fair returns. I would not order from this site again, and I'd encourage others to research before buying based on their social proof photos.
