Awful

Awful. Biometric approval doesn’t work and keeps locking me out of my account with no way of removing it once setup and unable to contact anyone for support - just a stupid chatbot

Only giving it one star cos I can't give it 0. Absolutely awful biometrics. Mine has not worked properly for almost a year and I've ended up having to go to a cash point to draw out money for someone else who has had to use their bank to pay things for me because their bank know what they are doing! I am on the verge of leaving this bank despite being with them since 1998

Approve transactions

Be warned if you join Nat West and have to use the approve transaction via the app. It rarely works and you have to be on two devices to approve payments sometimes as low as 10pence. The point of mobile banking is in the name and not have to be at home to purchase a item. I have been unable to book accommodation while away from home and ended up ringing up businesses direct to pay.nat West will say its a browser issue when you raise this at a branch however look online and this happens on various browsers and models of phone.avoid if you need to purchase via a phone

Biometric approval is useless

Have been locked out of my natwest account so many times because the biometric approval has failed. So so so frustrating. Natwest says you can turn it off but you have to use biometric approval to turn it off which is ridiculous when it’s not working !

Face Biometrics Not Working

Have tried to sort out my face biometrics a million times on the app. Does not work whatsoever, and you can't disable the option unless you use the face biometrics, so it's a circular problem. It's a real shame because the app before this stupid update was really good.

Poor biometrics (Facial Recognition)

After much effort I registered with Natwest's biometric (facial recognition) security via my App. I then went to transfer a large sum of money using the registered biometrics function but after several failed attempts, it locked me out and disabled my app. Will no longer use biometrics (blinking!!! approval). I'm all in favour of enhanced security but it must be reliable and customer friendly. Please Natwest use finger print and drop facial recognition

The Natwest blinking biometric approval…

The Natwest blinking biometric approval process is so frustrating!! It never works - preventing my from being able to make payments. For sure we need ever stronger security - but let's not force it on customers until it actually works - I wish I could give less than 1 star - really complete useless rubbish!!!!

Asking me to approve every payment on all my Amazon subscriptions every month is past annoying. I've cancelled all my Amazon subscriptions, but I'm thinking maybe I should have just cancelled my Natwest bank account!

I'd give no stars at all if I could. NatWest has got to be the most customer unfriendly bank in existence. I recently tried to pay my Tesco credit card through NatWest. An easy task you would have thought
After all it is unlikely that anyone other than me is going to pay off my card. Nevertheless NatWest insist on biometric approval which in their case is a 'blinking' nightmare as it rarely works and even when it finally deigns to recognise you it still refuses to approve the transaction. Come on NatWest, we all agree with security but please use some common sense and more importantly make sure your app works even if it is probably a very insecure technology anyway. Personally I have turned off biometrics and gone back to the good old reliable (and quick) card reader. And please get rid of your chat robot which is an even bigger waste of time (just) than the humans you employ on your chat. I was some 15 minutes into my chat session asking why the app wasn't working properly before the agent suggested I could turn off biometrics, something I didn't think I could do. A quicker heads up would have been good. For those of you struggling with biometrics I would suggest you turn it off. Better still, change your bank perhaps to one that still has some branches left (but that's another issue) 😕

Blinking for approval of a payment…

Blinking for approval of a payment transaction doesn't work. Sure i've called and talked to Natwest - but they just think i'm stupid and don't know how to blink, the colour of my walls are a problem (really!), or lots of other reasons. So it seems that all of us reporting the problem, are not deserving of Natwest's service. Come on Natwest - admit there is a problem and FIX IT.

The camera blink mechanism does not work

The camera blink mechanism works only about 1 in 20 times. Mostly it does note recognise me despite me doing everything that it asks. The internet shows that this is a common problem. It is intensely irritating . The bank must know about this problem but does nothing. Who do they pay to find out public opinion? They are not very good at their job,

Simply and utterly a bad bank for any retail current account holder in my opinion. The debacle of the application on my fone and utterly useless "Cora assistant" could not perform any worse (stuck with my MasterCard added on NatWest app but frozen disabled on my pixel Google wallet with not even a telephone operator able to fix!) so I am researching alternative current accounts and herald the day I can say goodbye NatWest thank you for your archaic digital system, 1* is generous, AWFUL.

Biometric 'approval' doesn't work

Biometric 'approval' doesn't work. Had set it up when it launched and thought no more of it until I needed to make some payments etc. It doesn't recognise me. I've tried about 50 times, reset the app, logged out and in, reinstalled the app, all to no avail. I then tried to remove the biometrics but I can't unless I use biometrics to authorise the removal.

What is more baffling is that faceID on my iPhone, the device I am using the NatWest app on, works perfectly every time.

Literally use any other bank for your current account or credit cards - at least they won't lock you out of your own accounts.

Read the reviews first and my update

I have reduced considerably my original saga following the switch to NatWest that went smoothly and applying for a credit card was also undertaken easily and then disaster struck. All I wanted to do was add my wife as an additional cardholder but the bank uses a facility called digidocs to confirm ID.

Too many times I submitted new ID and each time I was advised more information was required.
Getting fed up, I telephoned twice (the first call I gave up eventually) and after another 20 minutes wait was connected to a lady who apologised for the lack of contact and then proceeded to confirm that all ID checks were satisfactory and she would arrange for a card to be despatched to my wife.

Sadly, two days later I received an email to advise the ID was too blurry and it would be necessary to resubmit. This despite the earlier advice that all checks were satisfactory and a card would be issued.

I completed a complaint form as recommended by one of the agents and in a response to my complaint I was advised this has to be responded to within 56 days. Two days later my wife received a letter giving details of her PIN number and then two more emails, one to my wife and one to me confirming more information required.

After a further phone call, quickly answered, I was advised why the ID had not been acceptable. Following the advice I am pleased to report that my application has now been successful. All credit to all the agents who have dealt with me patiently and helpfully.

Next to useless

Next to useless, took for ever to set up. Now doesn’t work so can’t do anything using the app and the only way to turn it off is to use the biometrics which doesn’t work. Now will have to take time off work to go to branch which is no longer open on Saturday, real progress !

The Nat West biometric facial…

The Nat West biometric facial recognition app does not work on my phone and if it did I still wouldn’t want to use it. Ironically because of this I can’t see details of my debit card. I can however transfer money from the app to another account which is what I now do - ironically the purpose of having a bank account seems to be lost on the children who set up this app who also admit that it rarely works. I use two other bank accounts that are happy with my thumb print or pin code so f-you Nat West. Total rubbish

Biometric approval is ridiculous. Stood here like an idiot blinking 30 times to send my son his weekly pocket money to his NatWest bank. Doesn’t recognise my face half the time. Change it or I change bank

Biometric approval for payment

Biometric approval for payment. Looking for disappointment: read on! It must be a bargain basement app but it’s kicked me out 4 times. It makes a mockery of NatWest’s claim that the user’s face offers the ‘best security’. Since had to remove it!!
