TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE and HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE !! I have bought 2 VISTADOME return tickets from Poroy to Aguas Calientes, 4 months in advance (it is full about 6 weeks before) for my wife and I. We paid 2x(85.50+92.70) = 356.40 USD. Then I got an email JUS A FEW DAYS BEFORE the trip, saying that the service was replaced by a "bimodal" solution, which was basically a bus going from Poroy to Ollantaytambo, and same "bimodal" service for the return leg. Of course it was way too late to book anything else given the very short notice. We had to take a CHEAP bus from Poroy to Ollantaytambo (which is half way!) without any compensation. I made a claim and the customer service want to refund me 8 USD (EIGHT!!) out of 356 USD. PERU RAIL, SHAME ON YOU !!!

We took the Peru Rail return Vistadome train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo and it was a nice touch for the end of our journey to Machu Picchu.

We had some entertainment and some snakcs included onboard.

Protests caused us to cancel three of our booked trips on Perurail. All three trips were cancelled within a timely manner, whether it was via their google drive or via email however they have still not refunded 2 of our trips despite receiving an email THREE months ago that they would be refunded.

You easily make a mistake when booking tickets. They admit this unclearity (2-4 Times a week the same mistake is made but they Don t improve their website). We cancelled the first incorrect tickets and now we are still waiting for a refund of the tickets for almost 6 weeks.

Terrible, they cancelled the train few hours before going to Machu Pichu, no customer service at all and they are refusing to refund my money. Probably the worst company I came across throuh my long journey in South America

I’ve seen Peruvian people protesting
At the door claiming perurail don’t let them in or exit machupichu city claiming they being force to stay inside the city when I asked if they have any other transformation they said the only transportation is perurail
I felt bad buying a ticket form this company and supporting the monopoly they have on the city of machupichu please have this in mind when u buy with them.

The perurail ticketing man/agent in Ollantaytambo tried to charge us the full price of US$125/each for their Vistadome train to Machu Picchu. We asked about any promotions available and he said there was none. After we started walking away, he then said there WAS a promotion at US$84/each for the 10:32AM VistaDome train. The date was August 18, 2019. The trip itself was quite enjoyable, and my wife enjoyed her pisco-sour, but be sure to check the price on the website before approaching the ticket counters.
