We asked a friemd to bring us back some PG Tips as they tend to be more expensive in the Middle East. At first I thought the milk was off, then realized it was the tea! It tastes nothing like the old pyramid bag tea. Now we are desperately trying to source the original bags before they are old sold out and have thrown away the new ones. I really hope they will bring back the old flavour or will have to switch brands.

Like so many others I used PG Tips pyramids for eons and didn't consider anything else. However, I began to notice that the taste was different and not for the better. The bags were also breaking during the brew, something that never happened before. After a bit of research I realised that they had actively changed the make-up of the bags so that they were biodegradable. Oh dear.
I started looking for an alternative and tried Yorkshire. Not bad but not right for me. Then I saw a Which? tea test and hey ho, Asda Everyday Tea Bags came top. I was a bit sceptical but as I shop at Asda I bought some. Thoroughly nice taste at a very good price - and they sell them in 240s. I would highly recommend and I can see why they came top in the taste test. Worth a try if you're looking for an alternative.

I have been a loyal PG Tips customer for decades, but this latest change is forcing me to look for a new brand.

First, the manufacturing process is dreadful—I bought a four-pack of 160-count boxes, and in each one of them, half of the tea bags were partially open, as if they were never properly sealed in the first place. The tea bags come in joined pairs, and in each pair, one of the bags wasn't fully sealed along the outside edges. So, my journey into this new blend was already blighted by losing half of the tea bags I'd bought.

Next, the tea itself. It is ground so fine it's not recognizable as tea—no sign of the "top two tea leaves" the PG Tips used to advertise.

Finally, the cuppa. PG Tips has admitted to changing the blend in order to brew more quickly, but the resulting cup of tea is terrible. There is no rich flavor, no natural sweetness of the tea leaves. Instead, it's a bitter blend of floor sweepings that makes a cup of hot brown water in a minute.

This saddens me so much. I really loved PG Tips, but they've ruined it for me.

I think PG Tips, as they refer to themselves now rather than Brooke Bond, spent £50 million developing this new product, all so it would brew in 1-2 minutes.
It's weak, little flavour, tastes like a bargain basement supermarket tea, worse I think. What it has in common with very cheap teas, in the packet I have, is unseparated two teabag sets. Unlike, eg., Twinings, Clipper, Yorkshire Tea, etc, the bags rarely separate easily. So, one is left with one intact teabag and a worktop covered with tea....dust, from a torn one. It is a cheap looking, cheap tasting, poorly made product. Best ignored.

Recently used the last of our PG Tips pyramid tea bags which we have been using for years and purchased the new square bags of PG Tips.

Terrible taste - nothing like the pyramid bags - disgusting.

Just been to B&M and bought 240 Tetley tea bags for £4 and notice they are round tea bags - but the taste is wonderful - nice refreshing taste - not too strong not too weak - just as we like it.

Will be staying with Tetley now - sorry PG Tips but you have ruined your product and lost two avid tea drinkers!

Why mend something when it's not broken?? The new "flavour" is tasteless. It's now more of a coating on my tongue than a refreshment for my thirst!!!

After 55 glorious years of drinking PG, I have now purchased another brand.
The latest blend PG teabags are AWFUL. They give a tasteless tea with none of the hallmark freshness which characterised PG tips.
My family have been loyal PG drinkers and always taken the teabags on any trips away to ensure a quality cuppa.
Sadly that will no longer be the case. You have lost us, and we feel that we have lost a dear friend.

Absolutely awful teabags, no taste whatsoever and I unfortunately purchased two boxes. Completely flavourless no matter what I tried, less milk, brewing for longer. Certainly won't be buying again YUK.

PG Tips square tea bags.

I opened a new box of PG tips and made a cup of tea (expiry March 2025). What the hell was I drinking! I thought that some descaler had contaminated the water but I hadn't used descaler in the kettle for several weeks. The tast was somewhat metallic but difficult to accurately describe. I looked in the tea bag box and found a yellow residue on the inside of the cardboard that was also on some of the tea bags. I have no idea what this is - all suggestions to me please - so I discarded the bags and about £5.00 in the process. I have used the pyramid bags for many years with no fuss but these little darlings are quite awful. Time for a change methinks.

Pg tips tea bags over 50% don't make a good cup of tea they are very week

After almost 15 years, PG Tips is no longer my tea brand. Advertised as pyramid (not non-pyramid) and received the flat tea bags on Amazon. I loved the pyramid shape but was still hoping the strong tea flavor would be present in the flat bags. It is not. It's weak and lacks flavor, not to mention the tea bags break. Had to throw all 4 boxes out. Could not donate because I stupidly opened all boxes hoping for the pyramid bags. Not a smart move for PG Tips. Can't imagine how many customers they're going to lose.

A cup nats urine... weak...rubbish tea is pg tips...you need 3 t bags to even get a decent cup of tea...I'll stick with red label.....

Oh PG what have you done? Your new tea is just awful. I thought it was just my taste buds playing up or kettle gone furry but no. Its your revolting new blend. I've just wasted my money on this awful excuse for tea bags, did you actually get tea drinkers to test it before launching it?? Yuk, yuk, yuk. Another long time customer lost, no doubt there will be many more.

Would give it zero.Taste chemicals.Ha been a PG fan for many years.Whats happend has the Dutch ruined this great British product like they have done with H P Sauce

For many years PG Tips Pyramid teabags contained tea and had a nice taste and provided a satisfying cuppa! The 'new' flat teabags seem to be more dust than tea and have very little taste. From what I have read the change was made because the teabag material was changed, which doesn't make sense. My personal view is that it seems more likely to be a cost saving change. Surely it would have been possible to change the shape of the bag; retain the old blend and retain the taste.

One good thing - I always bought PG Tips but now I will try other teabags and perhaps will find one that I will enjoy. :-)

Have just used SIX bags to get ONE cup of tea. The first 5 burst in the cup. Am going to write to PG Tips who have recently increased the price AND reduced the quality!

I have only just started use the square bags in the new shape boxes, as I buy in bulk. My God I was nearly sick! At first I though it was my water supply, but after running the water for a few minutes, three times, and making three more cups. The tea tastes horrible. I will definitely be changing to Yorkshire Tea. I have emailed Lipton's but have yet to have a reply

Tea is awful has changed dramatically will now change brands hope it's not the amount of tea in the bags being reduced to make more money of the suffering public I won't hold my breath though
