Overall the structure of the trip was terrible. Although Our guide Jossy was very kind.

The trip did not allocate enough time to properly eat meals when travelling from place to place. The amount of travelling was not healthy for me and others on board. Moving from hostel to hostel every single night did not allow us to enjoy where we were staying. From being so burned out from driving we barely got to see the places we were going.

The trip was not authentic to the way it was advertised. It says they are making sure it doesn’t contribute to mass tourism but everything we did was mass tourism. The hostels we stayed at were typically international so I question how much is going to the local economy. Staying at less places for longer would have made the trip much better but because we constantly moved we barely had anytime to enjoy the places we stayed.

We visited a plantation and there was barely any regard for the harms colonization caused to the local populations. It was framed as they were conquered and even the way it was explained made it sound fine or neutral instead of a mass genocide. There was no moment of silence or anything to be mindful of what happened there.

They said some meals were included but did not specify that there was barely any included. And they made the local food sound quite cheap but based on the places we were staying the food close by was much more expensive than anticipated. The meals that were included were very poor quality. Often cold or left out for a long time making eating unappetizing.
I had trouble on the trip getting such bad heartburn I got sick. Our guide was on the bus back while I chose to take the train back. I couldn’t get up without getting sick and she was difficult to contact because she did not have data. The guides should have fully provided data in case of an emergency and the fact they do not is absolutely ridiculous and a huge safety concern.

Near the end we got back to Cusco and we were stuck in a room with people who were not in our group. This was never specified on the trip at all as staying with a group is assumed for the entire duration.

During the whole trip there was a lack of clarity of what was happening next. We often were getting into random sprinter vans and needed to ask how long the drive would take. These details should be in the itinerary so we know exactly how long we are driving.

There were times we had such a lack of direction that many of us were in our swim suits freezing after white water rafting and there were no facilities to change and we needed to drive back to the hostel sandy, wet and cold.

There were times we ate breakfast at 7 am and didn’t eat lunch until 2. This is not healthy especially when driving for long periods of time.

The day of the Machu Picchu hike, they gave us a banana, juice box and cereal bar for breakfast. I bought extra snacks to make up for the lack of breakfast but it was not a proper meal. We also were scheduled to go to Machu Picchu at 6 am making us hike at 4 am. And for the first 2.5 hours it was complexly fogged over. And that would be okay if it’s just the weather but they said it’s like this every morning. So WHY make us go so early so not even see it until 9 am. The trip was poorly planned and was not organized with tourists best interest at heart but instead whatever they could do to make it as cheap and low quality as possible. While still being quite expensive with a lack of meals included.

I’d like to request a refund for the trip as I believe it was false advertising and did not align with the values plotpackers claims to have.

If I could leave no stars i would. I did admittedly book and pay a deposit, realising that the deposit would be non refundable, but after my own circumstances changing, and the high fuel costs due to the war, I withdrew my spot for a tour arranged by a YouTuber. Apart from the obvious change in the way the youtuber was towards me, as a fan and subscriber, was disheartening and disappointing, I still thought I can use the deposit for a different tour regardless. But each time I tried to email or get on my account, I had no response and unable to log in or reset my password on the account. Yes they are a small company, but I definitely would not trust them if any issues while away arose. They're slow response took days, to weeks, and to the point that I only received a response when my email became irrate. This company has a very poor customer service that now I am out of pocket almost $200 aud, as I refuse to put my trust in them to travel overseas, especially during this war. Regardless of being a small company, it is very unprofessional, but no excuse for poor customer service. Be weary. I so hope this dodgy company does not respond to this, as I am so irriated by their lies and excuses. Those that have had good experiences were just lucky or probably in the know of the unprofessional staff.

Plotpackers completely exceeded my expectations for my first-time booking a tour! It is incredible value for money, and Peru was absolutely surreal. Our guide, Jossy, was amazing and truly the loveliest person ever. The group was so friendly and we all bonded instantly. Everything was flawless from start to finish. I’d book again with Plotpackers in a heartbeat!

I had an amazing trip to Iceland with plotpackers. The culture and the scenery was so beautiful and unforgettable. A special thanks so Sara and Jose who made the trip even more enjoyable for our group. Both were so kind and worked really hard to make sure we all saw everything we wanted (plus a few amazing extras). Accommodation was right in the city centre so super easy to find everything you’ll need. I honestly couldn’t recommend this trip more.

Disgusting company. Booked a trip for 2K Euros. Wanted to cancel the trip and get reimbursement, and you want to know their reimbursement policy? If you cancel 90 days before the trip. They don’t give your money back. They give you a ******* voucher. They keeping the money. If you cancel 90 days or sooner than the trip. They take a cancellation fee of a price of a ticket… So if you book a flight for 5K euros and you want to cancel your reservation, they will take 5K in cancellation fee. Such a scam bags is hard to find. Don’t deal with them, if you don’t want to lose your money and nerves.

I went to Iceland with plotpackers May 2026 and Sera was amazing as our guide- making us feel comfortable and well informed through the whole trip. Great way to see a lot of it in a short period and accommodation chosen close to the city so very easy to explore in the evenings

i booked the cartagena and beyond with our lovely host Kate and it was a beautifull trip. it was very well organised and filled with fun and interesting activities. our host Liliana was a ray of sunshine and very helpful and informative. i had an amazing time, would definitely recommend!

I had an amazing trip with plotpackers!! We traveled in the northern part of Colombia and couldnt wish for a better local guide than Lilo to host this trip with 🩷 everything was perfectly organised, we learned a lot and had enough free time to relax. For anyone who’s travelling far away from their country for the first time I definitely recommend going with Plotpackers

The guide was not involved in the trip. She was always alone on her phone. The trip should definitely have been better organized. We had to pay to take a taxi to get to the boat activity when it was supposed to be included. In addition, why make us stop on an island for dinner if after they forbid us to go to the pool or on their beach. I think there are several things to improve in your way of doing things. I do not recommend the city of Santa Marta.

Colombia trip with Plotpackers (Sophie-Maude Marchand) and our guide (Liliana De Arcos) was incredible!! I recommand booking this trip. Liliana was really helpful with us.

I just came back from my first group trip ever to Colombia's Caribbean Coast (1-11th May 2026) with Liliana as our local tour guide and Kate as the host of the trip. I’ve traveled solo to Latin American countries before, but I had some safety concerns about Colombia as a solo female traveler.. However, finding Plotpackers and this particular itinerary felt like a sign to me! Everything was well organized and it was nice to sit back and relax, 10 days went by way too fast.. The activities and free time offered a perfect mix of culture, nature, adventure and time to chill, but the best part of the trip was definitely the group I traveled with! We all got along well and it felt like a small family at the end :) Having Liliana as our tour guide was also a blessing: She shared so much valuable knowledge about the culture, history and local food and was always there for everyone (even when she was sick)! The only thing that could have been communicated better beforehand was dietary restrictions, as no one knew about it in the beginning and this made things a bit complicated for me at some points..

Eric was an amazing host, really nice person and helpful. He made all the travelling smooth and easy.

I think the itinerary could be changed a little to maximise time spent in the locations rather than travelling in the day however.

I have been recently on a group trip to Brasil with Plotpackers and it has been my second group trip with this company already. I feel like the trips are very well thought through, offering a good variety of experiences. What I most liked about it was the opportunity to get to know also some local places and connect to the people there. One of them being our guide Julio L., who did an amazing job! He took such good care of us, was so loving and caring and attentive to every little detail, while showing us around the beautiful state of Rio, thereby not only being our guide but a real friend to us!
I can totally recommend! :)

No flexibility in exceptional circumstances – very disappointing

I booked a trip with Plotpackers, but my flight with Qatar Airways was cancelled due to the current geopolitical situation. As a result, it became practically impossible for me to reach the destination (Maldives) in a normal, safe, and reasonably affordable way. You cannot promote yourself as a “budget travel company” if you expect the customer to spend thousands of euros extra to get to the destination.

Despite these exceptional circumstances, Plotpackers refuses any form of refund or reasonable solution. They strictly rely on their terms and conditions, without taking into account that the trip has become effectively unfeasible for me.

They state that the trip is still “going ahead,” but that is irrelevant when, as a customer, you can no longer reach the destination in a realistic way. Alternative routes are significantly more expensive and uncertain, making the trip unreasonable to carry out.

What disappointed me the most:
- No flexibility in exceptional circumstances
- Strict reliance on terms without considering the real situation of the customer
- No attempt to offer a reasonable solution (such as rescheduling or partial refund)

This gives the impression that all risk is placed entirely on the customer, even in cases of force majeure.

I would strongly advise future travelers to think carefully before booking, especially if your trip depends on international flights.

Very disappointed with how this has been handled.

Love a Plotpackers trip! I have taken two trips with them, one to Iceland and one to India (very different trips!!) and both were well thought-out, packed with details, and with smart, attentive guides.

One thing I liked about the Iceland trip, in particular, is that we had one Plotpackers-specific guide and then one country-based/local guide. I also loved the free time we had in Iceland.

Comparatively, we had ZERO free time in India. Which was fine since we saw so much. But if free time is important to you, do your research on the itinerary or others' experiences with that specific trip.
