Husband (H) and I returned from an 18-day trip to Vietnam and Siem Reap in Cambodia on April 11, and 2+ months later I still can’t stop thinking about it. Through Rough Guides, we were put in touch with Ivy at Realistic Asia, and she worked with H to shape a tour that spoke to our interests - people, culture, museums, food…and the country. To be honest, I let the two them do most of planning, as H was much more interested in going than I was. That changed the movement we arrived. I fell in love and over and over during our trip, and felt so grateful to be there. It was our first “bespoke” tour, where we designed it to include all and only what we wanted to see and where we wanted to go, but in very broad strokes. Ivy was the master painter who filled in the itinerary with rich colors, layers, and textures that we would never have known or experienced without her.
Our guides and drivers, different in each city, were amazing cultural arbiters. Funny, articulate, knowledgeable, but most of all, kind and really striving to make our stay in their city meaningful and memorable. Special shoutouts to Mai and Mike in Hanoi, Dat in Hue and the two Khai’s in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) (one was our guide, the other Khai took us on the food tour). Highlights in Hanoi: the not-to-be-missed Water puppet show and the world-class Ethnology Museum. A dream-like cruise on Ha Long /Lan Ha Bay. Hue: Dinner at the Ngoc Son Residency with an fascinating musicologist and a gourmet food-as-art meal prepared by her mother. I left feeling I must approach cooking in a more elevated way! Hoi An - a full moon Lantern Festival and the thrilling and soul-filling Ter Dah performance (closest comparison - Cirque de Soleil a la Vietnam), Saigon - Crazy wonderful Vespa motorcycle food tour, city tour with the skyline filled with entrancing light shows, then a visit to the Mekong Delta. Traveling through the countryside and on the Mekong river, visiting a Coconut processing factory ~ fascinating.
In Cambodia we visited Angkor Wat temple complex. marveling at the beauty and complexity of the construction and stone friezes, and attended a gorgeous dinner where Aspara Dance was featured. The costumes alone were show-stopping, and the dancing was a study in slow-motion gracefulness.
All the hotels that we stayed at (Ivy offered a choice of three in each city) were wonderful, but we lost our hearts to the magnificent Indochine Palace in Hue and Jaya House River Park in Siem Reap. Jaya House, especially, was out of a dream. The people, rooms, food, service, beauty of the grounds with lotus and amazing artwork around every corner, and the quirkiness of the hotel due to the vision of the owner…well, we’re convinced we’ll never stay at a better place.
Food throughout the trip was as beautiful as it was fresh and delicious. We were treated to one feast after another! We felt safe and comfortable everywhere we went. Traffic was sometimes crazy, but drivers and not aggressive. There’s a definite flow.
But what touched our hearts the most was the generosity and kindness of the people we met. Ivy was always responsive, and really came to our aid when H had an accident and landed in the Hue International Hospital emergency room with a cracked rib. She held our hand over WhatsApp and the phone, and our city guide, Dat, upon being messaged to cancel the day’s tour, showed up at the hospital to help, interpret, and smooth things over during a very difficult time. He definitely achieved guardian angel status along with Ivy. Our trip was an extraordinary experience in every way, and we are already plotting our return in early 2028. If it were closer, we would go back sooner! We can’t recommend Rough Guides/ Realistic Asia and Ivy highly enough. Our deepest thanks for the amazing care and support at every step of our journey. I booked the Island Hopping in Thailand in 9 Days tour in May. It was half sightseeing, half leisure, with two guided day trips into the Andaman Sea across the scattered islands and plenty of leisure time in between.

The scenery was breathtaking, the sea warm and the food delicious, and Mr Thang Tran took care of all logistics while being very helpful and positive. I had a great time and will check out Realistic Asia again when planning my next trip to the region.

Aussies travelling from Vietnam to Cambodia via Mekong Delta cruise. Always a worry when you have to guess and choose an operator off the internet. Realistic Asia (Tessa) took all that angst away, very well organised, itinerary provided and when there was an issue a simple text and it was fixed immediately (there is still sometimes a language barrier on board when describing technical issues). Third party hotels and operators chosen were also great. Don’t hesitate, I would def use these guys again

Realistic Asia did everything for us and everything right. They created our itinerary after listening to our suggestions, planned a wonderful 10-day trip in Thailand that accommodated the interests - history, culture, people, food, adventure - of my family with age ranges of 15-82. The hotels were terrific, as were our drivers, our wonderful guides, and all around experience and quality service. 5 stars, for sure!

From the very initial booking, the entire process was a breeze, and the staff was delightful. Heyun was amazing and helped us all the way from the start, during our lovely trip, and at the end. We had a fantastic time in Vietnam and feel the accommodations, activities, and transportation were all well planned. Each day was clearly delineated, and we had Heyun checking in to be sure we were doing well. It was wonderful. We couldn't have been happier with our trip. We were fine going with different folks on activities each day. We had done that before on a different trip, and although the guides were all amazing, no one had a clear idea of the whole picture, and it felt very discombobulated. This is where Realistic Asia, Tour Radar excelled. Heyun knew the whole picture and checked in regularly. I so appreciated her conscientious approach to our trip. In addition, we had a great app to refer to when needed. The entire trip went very smoothly and was a blast. We are so looking forward to more travels with Realistic Asia and Heyun

My family and I had an outstanding trip to Vietnam in May. We have used TourRadar in the past because they coordinate well with local tour groups. Thang Tran was assigned to us for Vietnam and was very proactive beforehand, making sure our Visas were accurate and coordinating airport pickup coming from three different US states. We had excellent communication with him and our local people for each leg of our journey. Everyone was polite, helpful and on time, resulting in a fantastic tour of beautiful Vietnam. We discovered Realistic Asia when looking for a travel package to Vietnam. When we first looked at the website, we were impressed by the variety of venue options and prices that were offered. Our sales consultant, Long Pham, introduced himself shortly after we booked. He listened and answered all our questions and guided us every step of the way. He booked accommodations that fit our needs such as 2 twin beds, breakfast so we could eat before our excursions, central locations, and pocketbook friendly Hotels. He communicated with us daily with reminders and arranged transportation that was flawless. I also need to mention that every excursion we took was was with a small group and a very knowledgeable guide. I this trip was such a positive experience I will recommend Realistic Asia to anybody traveling where they offer tours.

We just returned from an incredible 1.5 month journey through Vietnam and Cambodia, and I cannot say enough good things about Hien and the team at Realistic Asia. Planning a trip this complex — across multiple cities, regions, and countries — could have been stressful, but Hien made everything seamless from beginning to end.
Communication throughout the entire process was excellent. Hien took the time to understand our interests and curated activities that were absolutely perfect for us. Over the course of the trip, we stayed in 12 hotels, 2 boats and camped, and every single one was fantastic — comfortable, well-located, and full of character.
We had an amazing itinerary with 34 different activities, including climbing Fansipan (the highest mountain in Vietnam) riding Vespas through Hanoi, kayaking in a remote Cambodian jungle, bike tours, city tours, and so much more. Everything ran smoothly. Every guide and driver was either early or contacted us the day before to confirm details, which made us feel completely taken care of throughout the trip.
The one time we needed to make a change was during an especially hot day when we decided to switch from a city bike tour to a vehicle tour. Hien responded immediately and rearranged everything quickly and efficiently — probably saving us from heat stroke!
To make things even more complicated, my cousin and his family joined us for two weeks of the trip, and Hien did an outstanding job coordinating everyone’s schedules, accommodations, and activities so everything worked perfectly.
This was truly one of the best travel experiences we’ve ever had, and much of that was thanks to Hien’s organization, responsiveness, and attention to detail. I would highly recommend Hien and Realistic Asia to anyone planning a trip to Vietnam, Cambodia, or Southeast Asia. They exceeded our expectations in every way.

Absolutely great trip! Our advisor, Thang did a great job with every part of it. The itinerary was very versatile and in all destinations. The activities reflected the cultural and authentic experiences that one can do in the cities and towns we visited. Would definitely recommend!

The selection of tours each day was excellent. I enjoyed the places we went and the knowledgeable tour guides. The logistics of the tour were seamless, from our arrival at the airport in Hanoi until our departure from HMC, we were well-taken care of, and everything flowed smoothly.

A wonderful 10 day tour across Vietnam organised by Chris Thang for myself and elderly mother. Chris arranged walk in showers to accommodate my mother’s limited mobility and airport assistance on domestic flights. Each evening we received instructions for the following day ensuring well organised holiday.

Every day tour we did they checked in with us to see how our day was, any concerns etc. I would definitely book again with realistic Asia!

We booked a 9 day tour of Sri lanka with our rep Long pham. We have used him a few times now and have always been extremely pleased with our experience.
The tour was amazing we got to enjoy the highlights of what this beautiful country has to offer and it didn't feel rushed even with the tight timeframe. Our guide Dilan was fantastic and very accommodating and made sure we got the experience we wanted. All of the hotels we stayed in were good / great. The tour was private so just myself and my wife were with our guide for the duration which made it more personalized. I would highly recommend using realistic asia.

Ich habe in den letzten Jahren ganz Asien mit diesem Reisebüro bereist. Ich bin so happy, dass ich dieses Reisebüro durch Zufall gefunden habe. Es ist das Reisebüro, welches jeden Wunsch zu vernünftigen Preisen möglich macht

Die Hotels waren immer top und überdurchschnittlich. Die privaten Reiseführer haben alle immer super englisch gesprochen. Die Betreuung der Agentur während der Reise ist überdurchschnittlich, die zusammengestellten Reisen waren ein Traum. Ich schaffte es, immer in kurzer Zeit so viel wie möglich vom Land zu sehen (genau so, wie ich das wollte). Ich habe jeweils eine Privattour in meinem ausgesuchten Land nach meinen Wünschen zusammen gestellt. Meine Agentur-Agentin, Jenny konnte ich immer per Whatsapp erreichen und sie hat immer innert ein paar Stunden zurückgeschrieben.

Ich kann diese Agentur nur empfehlen, wenn man ein wunderbares Reiserlebnis erleben möchte. Ich werde wieder buchen, wenn ich nach Asien fliegen möchte

We took an 18-day journey through Viet Nam and Cambodia arranged by Rough Guides and supported by Realistic Asia. We have been on cruises and group tours, but this was the first tailor-made tour where we did “all and only” what we wanted to do with the support of those who know the lay of the land. First, we expressed our interests online. Rough Guide proposed an itinerary. We exchanged ideas and landed on the tour we wanted to take and the hotels we wanted to stay at. Bottom line – it was an incredible trip. Our project manager, Ivy from Realistic Asia, saw to every detail. She was a treasure who helped us along the way, even though we never met in person – only electronically. We were met at each location by a driver and a knowledgeable guide from the area. We were treated to excellent meals and local events and excursions. A few highlights – In Hanoi, we were charmed by a water puppet show; we wove through hundreds of small islands on a 3-day cruise in Ha Long Bay; we cruised the canal during the lantern festival in Hoi An; took a food-tasting tour on Vespas in Ho Chi Minh City (a real highlight!); spent the better part of a day touring Mekong by boats and jeeps; went to multiple temples in Siem Reap, including, or course, Ankor Wat. While the lodgings were great everywhere, a special shoutout to the Jaya House in Siem Reap – luxurious, personable and quirky. Having traveled for over 50 years, have to say this was one of our top trips ever. Look forward to using Rough Guides and Realistic Asia again.
