Emergency First Aid at Work
I recently completed an excellent First Aid course that was 5-star in every way.
Our instructor from the Ambulance Service was a fantastic communicator. He used a range of Manikins and realistic simulations to prepare us for real-life emergencies and ensured that everyone was given individual feedback to perfect their technique.
The highlight was using the professional choking vests. Stepping in behind another person to perform the correct Abdominal Thrusts—using the specific fist technique to launch the yellow foam cylinders—was an incredible way to build confidence and so much fun.
We also practiced extensively with a Defibrillator, ensuring our timing and placement were perfect.
The venue was great with easy parking, and the food from McAtamney’s Butchers was absolutely top-class.
I left feeling genuinely 'mastered' in these life-saving skills. I look forward to bringing this expertise to my work with the Portstewart Community Association!
