We have purchased this several times over 2-3 years. I will never purchase again. This is a scam. Yesterday, June 26th, it rained all day except for maybe a total of 2 hours. We had water standing 1-2 inches in our campsite. We had flash flood warnings for our area. However, we were told that this did not qualify according to their records for us to get reimbursed. This is a joke and I would recommend that no one purchase this. This is the second time something like this has happened.

They offer coverage for rain on camping trips but have hidden in their terms of service that any modification to your trip will cancel the entire coverage plan (and this is extremely poorly communicated by Hipcamp as well) and require you to purchase an entirely new one, which negates the purpose of getting a weather refund to begin with. This results in easily lost money if you're like the 99% of people who don't read through the fine print. Can't say I'd recommend again; doesn't seem worth it.

I was disappointed with this business.It rained nonstop Wednesday 6-23.We were in camper watching it pour .Finally stopped at 3:00.They claim not enough rain.I wish they would of been the ones sitting in camper watching.Than tell me not enough rain!

2.19 . They claimed it did not meet the 1.5mm for payment. This site is such a scam. On 6/19/26 it drizzled and I was paid. But not for heavy rain during 8am-8pm
DO NOT BUY THIS INSURANCE FROM THIS COMPANY. IT'S A SCAM

Great communication and fast refund

We use sensible weather on every trip. We are kept updated on the weather. We have had two instances where we had reimbursement. The money is quickly put into your account.

Scam. Couldn’t recommend this service less. We opted for the ‘insurance’ on a trip to the Hamptons and it poured the entire time. All I heard from their automated CS rep was how their readings from blah blah and blah blah were more accurate than the fact that we sat inside all day due to rain. This isn’t worth the slightest thought and probably wont be in business in the near future due to fraud. Don’t bother.

Yesterday at our campsite in West Des Moines it rained for 6 straight hours and didn’t stop until 1:00 pm. Yet it didn’t qualify for reimbursement? What a rip off.

Quite generous terms, immediate payment. It didn't rain much for 1 day in Las Palmas and immediately the phone rang with money deposited for 24 hours. //Lars, Sweden

Total Scam!
Conditions were met and verified by the rain gauge on a friend’s trailer.
When I reach out to customer service they denied my claim as “After reviewing your Weather Guarantee, it appears that the conditions required for reimbursement were not met on 6/17. Our records indicate that precipitation did not reach or exceed 1.5 mm per hour for at least 4 separate hours between 8 AM and 8 PM”
Out of 5 days we had rain for 3 of them and I only asked to be reimbursed for 1 day as the other 2 days didn’t meet the criteria.

Notice that most of the 5star reviews are from people that didn’t actually use it as they had nice weather. I have a feeling these scam artist almost never pay out!

Do not use this service!

I can't say how it worked one way or the other. It didn't rain while we were there, so we didn't get to use it. But can't give it a bad review, cuz we didn't use it.

The company keeps a eye on the weather so we don't and we can have a great time camping

i received notification of refund before even checking on status

The refund for the first day was immediate. There was some rain the second day so I thought there would be another refund but it didnt get included. We did have to wait to go out for our beach activities bc of that rain so that was my assumption it would be another one. But still grateful for what was offered.

I never used this service before and didn’t know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised and it gave me confidence going into my trip.

Great support on line, response time was quick, and they deliver on the promise to reimburse for rain

SW was on it from the start of my holiday. Kept me informed as to whether the weather was going to trigger a payout or not.
I did qualify for a payment on one of the days and it was paid within the 5 business days as promised. Very pleased. Definitely use them again.
