Beautiful Lodge in a wonderful location with stunning views! We really enjoyed our stay at Riverside Lodge, the outlook is fantastic and the facilities provided were brilliant. We were welcomed with a lovely basket of water and New Forest treats, this was a lovely touch! We also really appreciated the milk, oil, coffee, tea and sugar provided, which really helped! The only reason I am not giving x5 stars is that we felt the stay was a little expensive all in all, we felt it was a shame that there was an extra charge for the hot tub, if the hot tub was included in the nightly cost then this would have felt a much fairer price. However we had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this stay! x

Our entire experience with Caroline at Short Stays was exceptional. Despite encountering some payment issues on my end, Caroline remained incredibly patient and supportive, which made a significant difference. Once we arrived at the lodge, we were thrilled to find it was not only beautiful but also wonderfully quiet and secluded. There were plenty of activities nearby, just a short distance away. We’re already excitedly planning our summer holiday at one of their other locations.

Enjoyed a fantastic house in the New Forest recently with old school friends. This is our 16th or 17th get together and for the first time we have booked the same venue again for September. Thank you Short Stay Homes for the personal communication and making it an easy and stress free experience.

We came to Beck cottage for my 40th as a big group. The cottage was lovely and had a cozy feel to it, we enjoyed the little extras too. A beautiful house in a lovely location. We hired the hot tub which was a real treat too. Thank you!

The arrangements and all the children's activities were spot on. A big bonus was not having to get in the car for a dog walk!!
The bedrooms and bathrooms were perfect but the only very small thing to point out was the cleanliness of the kitchen cupboards and drawers. But still more than happy to give 5 stars and recommended it to friends. I would now like to add that Short Stay homes have actioned a deep clean in response to my comment. Very impressive!

We rented Mews Hill and Criddlestyle Cottage for a boardgaming weekend.
Everyone said their beds were comfortable. There was plenty of room for us all. Lots of bathrooms and space.
The oven takes a while to cook, but you get use to it.
We will be returning with our dog

We rented both the farmhouse & lodge for a long weekend and had the best time - photos don’t do them justice! Perfect for a gathering with friends or family. Would love to stay again :)

We stayed at the Riverside Lodge 23rd - 26th January 2026. It was a present for my fishing crazy partners 60th birthday present. He fished, fished and fished. The river was flooded but he still managed to catch a barbel! 👏🏻
The Riverside Lodge was immaculate. Excellent facilities, wanted for nothing. I highly recommend this beautiful, peaceful lodge.

House was just what we needed for a family gathering, historic, large with many historic features but still felt homely. Plenty of room for 25 people and well equipped. Would recommend.

Visited forest drove cottage for my 60th birthday with family. Access was easy and if we had any question they were easily contacted by phone. House was lovely and welcoming and very clean and tidy. Everything we needed was there for us to enjoy our stay. Lovely welcome pack which was gratefully received. My one negative was that we had paid extra for hot tub at a substantial price and were not left any extra towels. Being January towels didnt dry very quickly and only had 1 each. This is just something that could be looked at 😊

This is a truly charming thatched cottage on the edge of the New Forest. It is beautifully furnished, very clean, and extremely well equipped for all our needs.
We stayed as a mixed age group from 10 to mid 70 to celebrate a 70th Birthday. The cottage worked perfectly well for everyone.
The location is excellent, with direct access to the forest and the joy of seeing ponies roaming freely nearby.
A relaxing & memorable stay.

We absolutely loved the property and the setting. The hot tub was a hit with everyone and there was nothing that hadn’t been considered for a large group, with loads of cutlery, crockery, two cafetières, all the cooking equipment you’d need and more. Any issues we had, our hosts were only too happy to help. Location is close to Honiton with good access to coastal towns like Lyme and Sidmouth within 40 mins. Oh and despite the quite remote location, WiFi was great.

Osmund house is fantastic. Very clean and well furnished. Really well stocked kitchen. Lots of fridge/freezer space. A few ovens and two tables for dining. The bedrooms were spacious and comfy beds. There were 16 of us in all and we had a great time there. The hot tub was nice to have and we hired the BBQ hut which was lovely too. Nice big garden. It’s within easy walking distance of the centre of Salisbury with supermarkets close by too.

We booked through Short Stay homes who were brilliant. We booked at very short notice due to a property we’d booked elsewhere being cancelled and Short Stay Homes couldn’t have been more helpful. Communication was very friendly and prompt.

They left a lovely hamper for us too which was a really nice touch.

We’ll definitely be returning here and can’t recommend it enough.

Great location on the edge of town, with lots of good amenities close at hand.

We had such a great weekend at Forest Drove in the New Forest. The house was exactly what we needed for our family of 11 with 6 children and a granny!
The lady we booked with was so helpful and friendly.
When we got home we realised my 10 year old daughter had left her favourite Christmas present behind along with her purse with pocket money. I immediately called Short Stay Homes and within a couple of days they had posted everything to us. I will definitely book with them again in the future.

Another wonderful few days at Riverside Lodge, this was our second visit. So peaceful and relaxing in a delightful setting surrounded by wildlife including many types of birds including ducks, swans, kingfishers and a small herd of deer in the adjoining wood appeared on our last day. Would thoroughly recommend for those wanting seclusion and to get away from it all.

A Perfect Weekend Getaway for the Whole Family

We stayed at this property last weekend with our entire family, and it was truly exceptional from start to finish. The home was spotless, beautifully maintained, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable and stress-free stay. Every room felt cozy and welcoming, and there was plenty of space for everyone to relax without ever feeling crowded.

Pam was incredibly accommodating and kindly allowed us to arrive earlier than planned so we could set up for my in-laws’ 50th wedding anniversary celebration. That flexibility made our weekend so much easier and truly meant a lot to us.

The kids and dogs loved the outdoor space, and the adults appreciated having a peaceful spot to unwind. The location was perfect and close to everything we wanted to see and do.

We made wonderful memories here and genuinely felt at home. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay again and highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a family-friendly, relaxing, and memorable getaway.

Found Forest Drove to be very expensive for what it was. We have stayed in several airbnbs and holiday homes over the years, and this was at the higher end but the standard of the cottage wasn’t great. The cottage needed a lot of TLC and we had quite a few issues whilst there.
The cleanliness of the cottage needs to be improved. We arrived to the kitchen floor being quite gritty and needing a good hoover and mop.
The baking trays were not cleaned at all, very dirty and had been used but not washed.
When we stripped the beds off on departure day, we noticed the bed was deeply stained and really needed replacing.
The 2nd night of our stay, we ran a bath for the children and when opening the plug to release the water, water was pouring through the lights downstairs in the utility room. The electricity didn’t trip either which to me is a safety hazard, luckily we noticed it before it caused any significant damage or harm. The downstairs bedroom needs better lighting and is a very small double bed. Overall, this cottage sadly didn't meet our expectations.

Fantastic service from Beginning to end. The team were so helpful when making the booking to find a property that met all our needs as well as in a location suitable. Information was provided all through the lead up to our stay and we got a fantastic link (like an app) prior to arrival with really useful information. On arrival despite being early the team were so helpful and during our stay when we reached out for help the team were responsive and sent help. The property was incredible, clean and had all the facilities needed as well as a few extras such as a lovely welcome basket filled with goodies! Thank you for making our celebration magical!
