We bought a bag of kiln dried softwood…
We bought a bag of kiln dried softwood logs to burn on our open fire. They were difficult to catch light and spat a lot of sparks. It would seem that the kiln drying process was not effective.

It's important to note that even when softwood firewood is properly dried, it can still have a tendency to spit and pop due to the nature of the wood. This is because softwood contains more resin than hardwood, which can create pockets of trapped gas that can cause the wood to burst or crackle when it's burned.
While this spitting can be a nuisance, it's a common occurrence when burning softwood, and it's not necessarily a sign that the wood is damp or of poor quality. However, to minimize spitting, we recommend using a fireplace screen or guard to prevent embers from escaping and causing any damage.

Check the logs on delivery
Received a large bag of kiln dried softwood logs. Unfortunately, when the logs arrived they were far from kiln dried, they were seasoned for a short period at best, and unusable. I Contacted Snowdon Timber and they were very quick to apologise and highlight that this must have been a mixup at the yard. They have since refunded me for the order. This would have been a 1* review based on what I received, but the customer service was pretty good.

We have just received our first delivery from Snowdon timber since they took over from N Wales Prwmier timber. Very happy with my delivery, and the driver was very helpful. I will be ordering again for January.
