Misleading Advice, Breach of Procedure, and Systematic Claim Denial

I am posting this to warn every driver, especially fellow taxi drivers, to stay far away from Spectrum Insurance and Car Giant White City. I was upsold a "specialist" taxi policy for £1,600—specifically paying a £400 premium over standard drivers—on the promise that my income would be protected. Instead, these companies have left me in a state of extreme financial distress.

The Reality of Their "Service":

Deliberate Misdirection: When my hybrid cooling system failed, Spectrum gave me ambiguous instructions that were a setup for failure. They failed to explain the pre-authorization process, leaving me to pay £2,652.62 out of pocket in good faith, which they then used as a technicality to refuse reimbursement.

Systematic Denial: When the issue recurred weeks later, I followed their "proper procedure" to the letter. They still refused to pay a single penny toward the additional £565.00 bill. This proves that their procedures are nothing but a smokescreen to avoid paying valid claims.

Financial Ruin: I have been forced to carry over £3,200 in repairs on high-interest credit cards, accruing massive debt while struggling to pay my mortgage. As a taxi driver, my car is my only source of income. Spectrum’s passivity and lies have caused me months of unnecessary stress and pushed my household finances to the breaking point.

The Verdict:
Car Giant White City and Spectrum Insurance are misleading liars. They are quick to take your money at the point of sale but will abandon you the moment you actually need the protection you paid for. They have shown zero regard for the fact that they are jeopardizing a working person’s home and livelihood.

Do not trust a word they tell you. They do not provide insurance; they provide expensive pieces of paper and then move the goalposts to ensure you are left carrying the bill.

I am finished playing their games. I am now demanding a final response and will be taking this straight to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) for a full investigation into their predatory practices.

I dealt with nabeela,great service

I dealt with nabeela and she was brilliant, explained everything succinctly and with a pleasant personalities, a pleasure to do business with. We have had spectrum warranty previously and they have been great when I have made a claim, no stress and they dealt directly with my picked garage.

Core Values missed

As a company who claim customer satisfaction is core of their business,they missed me out.
Sent my car to a small garage who diagnosed a software issue they couldn't repair.
Advised spectrum who gave permission to go to a main dealer who guess what ? Diagnosed a software issue!
Spectrum then refused to pay for the software issue citing Ts & C's ( fair enough) but to then refuse to pay the main dealer fee for the second ( same ) diagnosis that I had to pay ! So, £699 for warranty and a month of being messed about .
Certainly cannot recommend.

Following assessment, the fault identified with your vehicle was confirmed as a software-related issue. As outlined in the terms and conditions of the warranty, software and programming updates are not covered, as the policy applies to mechanical and electrical component failures only.

In relation to diagnostic costs, these are only covered where a valid claim is established under the warranty. As no covered mechanical or electrical failure was identified, we were unable to authorise reimbursement of these costs in line with the policy terms.

We can see from our records that you were advised you could take the vehicle to a main dealer for further investigation, with the understanding that any costs would remain subject to the terms and conditions of the warranty, including claim validation and labour rate limits.

We appreciate this may not be the outcome you were hoping for; however, the claim has been assessed and settled in accordance with the warranty conditions.

At present, we are unclear as to why a negative review has been submitted, as we have not yet had the opportunity to assess or progress your claim.
You initially contacted Spectrum regarding an issue with the reversing camera on your vehicle and advised that you had already taken the vehicle to a repairer of your own choosing. However, we were informed by the repairer that no diagnostic work had been carried out, meaning they were unable to confirm the cause of the issue or provide details of the required repairs and associated costs.
You subsequently spoke with my colleague, who explained that authorisation would be required from you for diagnostic work to be carried out. This is standard industry practice for warranty and insurance claims, as a diagnosis is necessary before any claim can be assessed.
At the time, you indicated that you were reluctant to authorise diagnostic work, and to date we have not received any quotation or repair estimate from the repairer. As a result, your claim remains open and pending further information.
I would be more than happy to discuss any concerns you may have. Please feel free to contact me directly if you would like to review the matter further.

LSB - Life saving angle

The lady LSB really helped me a lot with my warranty claim for my new car. And ongoing issue for 2 months and she was very patient, understanding and walked me through each step of my claim. Great experience and I can't thank her enough for being so kind and caring throughout.

This is the worse warranty company you…

This is the worse warranty company you can ever get , is like you don’t have warranty at all , I call because I have a problem whit my car they send me a list of garages that are the worse ones from my area they will damage your car than fixed your car but obviously they work whit them because is cheaper for them , anyways after I pay for the diagnostic myself they told me that they will get back to me or the warranty company to let me know if the fault of the car is under warranty is been mong time and neither the company or the garage contact me is like they want me to forget or get tired of waiting and get it fixed whit my own money the don’t care about your car they just want to sell a product which it doesn’t exist when you really need it so please avoid this scammers because that’s how you feel when you buy this non existing service

Our only communication from you was on 24th February, when you contacted us to report a knocking and squealing noise from your vehicle. At that time, we explained the claims procedure and provided you with a choice of four nominated repairers.
To date, we have not received any further communication from you or from a repairer regarding this matter.
I would be more than happy to discuss any concerns you may have about our service directly. I understand that one of my colleagues has since been in touch and is now liaising with the repairer to review any faults identified.
Please feel free to contact us so we can ensure this matter is resolved promptly and to your satisfaction.

This is company is shit . I bought car from car giant .and I get 1 year extra warranty to paid around 500£ to spectrum . I had problem my car when I called this company. They are only make fool .please be careful

Avoid at all cost not worth the paper…

Avoid at all cost not worth the paper it's written on breakdown & pay for a diagnostic test & guess what it's not covered just threw £900 away con men. See what the ombudsman has to say. Amazing how all your reply are the same duuuuuuur. AVOID THIS COMPANY TOTAL SCAMMERS. Paid £899 for 36 months cover i was also give 3 months & after umpteen visits to garages & only 4 months in to my term not even a partal refund

Great customer service

I wanted to leave a review as I spoke to a lovely lady called katelin which was very helpful. I’ve had a problem with my car for a while and spoken to a few advisers but she really just listened to my concerns and found the right information to help me out. She is amazing

Top notch customer service recieved

Been having some problems with my vehicle and felt overwhelmed with how I was going to get it sorted. Spoke to Caitlyn who was patient and broke every thing down to me step by step so I understood every step of the process I need to follow to find a solution.
Caitlyn is a credit to Spectrum, she simplified everything and was super helpful with every question I asked even going back over things to make sure I fully grasped what I needed to do. Caitlyn took full control and my issue was addressed with one single interation. This is exactly how customer service should be and 100 percent deserving of a 5 star review!

I was treated with respect and courtesy

Young lady (Linsey) treated me with respect and courtesy after a long struggle with the motor company who I bought the insurance from. She sorted it out with the repairer including obtaining the cost and refunded me what was due on extended insurance policy. Thank you very much Linsey. Ps if you need to get in touch with your insurer ask for Linsey
