Title: Predatory Practices: Double-Dipping on Medical Cancellations & Shifting Excuses
I am writing this review to warn others about the highly unethical and predatory business practices of this tour company.
I experienced a legitimate medical emergency and had to cancel our trip. When I initially contacted customer support to request a full refund, a partial refund, or a reschedule, they completely blocked us. Their first excuse was that because it was a "group booking," nothing could be done for an individual family—it had to be an all-or-nothing reschedule for the entire group.
To accommodate their rigid policy, I went through the trouble of convincing our entire group to reschedule. I told the company we were completely flexible with dates for either this year or next year. In response, they shifted their story entirely, claiming that no hotel reservations were available for the remainder of this year or anytime next year. They strictly denied our request, claiming a refund was impossible because our bus tickets and hotel accommodations had already been "paid for" and they had incurred unrecoverable costs with suppliers.
However, the members of our group who were still able to go on the trip discovered a shocking truth: our vacant bus tickets and hotel rooms were immediately sold to other customers.
When I confronted customer support with this proof, they openly admitted to the practice in writing. They stated that once we were marked as a "no-show," the operator was free to release and resell our inventory to "minimize unused capacity." Yet, they still refused to issue even a partial refund.
Why this company's behavior is completely unacceptable:
Blatant Double-Dipping: The company charged my family full price for seats and rooms, and then charged a second customer full price for those exact same assets. They did not lose a single penny to suppliers. Instead, they turned our medical emergency into a double-profit window.
Deceptive Shifting Excuses: They hid behind the "group booking" excuse until we met their demands, only to invent a new lie about hotel availability to keep our money.
Flawed Logic & Profiteering: They claim costs were incurred for services held for us, while simultaneously selling those exact services to someone else.
Zero Compassion: They have absolutely no flexibility or empathy for families facing unexpected medical crises.
This is not a standard strict cancellation policy—this is predatory behavior and corporate greed. If you book with them, pray you do not have a medical emergency. They will happily sell your paid seat right from under you, lie to your face, and keep every penny of your money. I will never use this company again.
Take tours took my money to book a tour that was departing Tuesday. The night before, on a call, they told me the tour was overbooked and I would have to pay an additional fee to stay at a different hotel. They then rescheduled the tour to Wednesday. They then told me the Wednesday tour was also overbooked and said my only option was to reschedule to Thursday. Multiple rounds of calls later, I’m not sure if they were ever intending to put me on a tour at all.
Tour guide did not behave well and did not give that service what we were expecting. The tour bus was small in size for 12 to 14 people. Despite our some physical issues that caused big back pain to me and leg pain to my wife we were given the back seats for two time and did not allow to sit in the front seat for long hours drive instead the guide gave the front seat to one family twice despite our complain. Also he was treating us like we are in a boot camp and have to wake up 5am, have breakfast by 6am and be in the bus by 7am sharp which was very inconvenience. Also he took us early in the morning by 7:30 or earlier in the Yellowstone park on 2nd day while there was no other tourist and was very cold and left us our group after showing the path to walk ourselves and he did not care that Yellowstone also have a wild life and going so early alone in the morning was dangerous and my wife was not able to walk fast and got out of breath and everyone was gone already. We did not enjoy at all in that condition. It was such a horrible experience with this Take Tour company. After complain to company they only gave us a little friction of refund which was not even half of the total tour cost including driver tips and parks entrance fee which looks to me too high and not worth of the tour.
I had a wonderful experience with the tour company. Our guide Steve did a brilliant and amazing job of coordinating the entire tour and showing us the places. It was overall a beautiful and pleasant experience

We took 8-Day Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore, Grand Teton, Antelope Canyon Tour from Los Angeles/Las Vegas tour.
This tour was poorly organized, exhausting, and far too expensive for what we got. If you can drive, do this trip on your own.
The schedule made absolutely no sense. We woke up at 5 a.m. every day, followed every instruction, and still didn't get to experience sights properly. There were two days allotted for Yellowstone National Park, yet we never got to properly see the main attraction, the Grand Prismatic Hot Spring. On the first day, we reached the park in the afternoon and only got to that Grand Prismatic Hot Spring around 6 p.m.(after sunset), when it was already foggy and visibility was zero.
The next morning, we started again at 7 a.m., but it was so early and freezing that everything was covered in fog. We finished by 10 a.m. and then spent the entire rest of the day just driving. Instead of sightseeing during the beautiful daytime hours, Most afternoons were spent driving, arriving at hotels by 5 p.m. with nothing to do nearby. What kind of tour plans are like this? It was ridiculous and so disappointing.
The website claims, “Meals are not included in the tour price, but your guide will arrange stops at a variety of carefully selected restaurants and food outlets along the way. There will be plenty of options to suit most dietary preferences, and vegetarian choices are always available.” This was completely false. We repeatedly stopped at McDonald’s or Chinese restaurants with no vegetarian options, and sometimes we weren’t even near any place that served vegetarian meals. I understand that in some areas it can be difficult to find vegetarian options and I was prepared for that but it happened everyday + guide’s lack of flexibility. For example, at Crazy Horse, the only restaurant available didn’t even have chicken, so half the tour went without a proper meal. When we asked if he could stop somewhere with at least 4–5 restaurant options, he flatly refused, saying, “I can’t. If somebody wants steak, I can’t stop based on others’ preferences.” Six out of twelve people on our bus couldn’t eat anything, and he told us to “eat around it and be more accommodating.” This was extremely disrespectful. This isn’t about being picky—it’s about basic dietary needs.
Also, breakfast wasn’t provided on Day 1 or Day 3.
If it is "Mandatory fees" then it should be included in the tour package price. Similarly, tips should never be mandatory—tipping is meant to reflect the quality of service, not to be forced on travelers. To make things worse, even though we paid the mandatory service and tip fee on the first day, the guide later announced that the tip we paid didn’t go to him and asked everyone to tip again. He repeated it multiple times, even personally approaching people. Tip should never be mandatory; it is supposed to be based on service. This was unprofessional and made everyone uncomfortable.
We also reached out to their customer service about this experience & left message, but we never heard back. The lack of support added to the frustration.
The Vegas optional tours are not worth the money at all. The price is outrageous—$50 for the night tour and $50 for the day tour. You can get to the exact same places for just $8 using the public Deuce bus, which runs along the same route. Most destinations are easily accessible by bus or even on foot, so paying for these tours is unnecessary.
Jason and everyone associated with the Take Tours agency are just frauds! Beware of these daylight robbers!
Take Tours has multiple hidden charges and multiple "mandatory" tour visits even if it does not appeal to you and the tour guides get very rowdy and aggressive if you insist that you would be fine with sitting around the visitor area or the gift shop. They also charge extra than the tickets are really worth and expect you to pay a 25% tip for their sh***y service. Worst! Avoid at all costs!
Kelley is an amazing guide who explains everything about the place and made us very comfortable! I would recommend their tour services for East Coast tours!
