From the beginning of trip planning the customer service was exceptional. We reached out to Tanzania Specialist and got an immediate response. The agent we had listened to our requests and created an itinerary that was incredible. We got paired with an amazing guide who took that extra step to make our experience even more memorable.
The service was very professional the whole time and having booked with Tanzania Specialist really made the trip worry free especially with the very booked itinerary and various accommodations and meals included. Even if we had a question, we had a team member that we could chat or call while we were there but our guide had all the information needed and kept us safe. The whole trip was a great experience!

The whole experience was great , the accommodations , the meals ( except the box lunches) , the staff were welcoming and attentive, our driver was well experienced and knowledgeable, he was attentive to our needs ,

Our guide, Joseph Massawee, was so fabulous!! He found all the animals and we left with a new friend!!!! I loved the way Tanzania Specialist checked and made sure everything went as planned when we left Tanzania! Thank you!!

We booked a two-week Northern Circuit safari in Tanzania with Tanzanian Specialist in September 2026.

Our guide, Philip Onesmo, was exceptional. He went well beyond expectations and helped compensate for significant planning shortcomings. We specifically requested him based on strong recommendations from other travellers, and his skill substantially improved the trip.

In fairness, the operational side of the trip was handled smoothly, with no hiccups or significant issues. That is a point in the operator's favour.

But that's where it stops. The main issue was the choice of accommodation in the Northern Serengeti. We spent three nights there specifically for the annual migration river crossings, yet Tanzanian Specialist placed us at Angata Bologonja, approximately two hours from the known main crossing points. This cost us roughly four hours of potential viewing each day and undermined the entire reason for including that stop or spending three nights atvthe location. It was also an hour and a half pre-dawn drive to the site of our balloon safari. Angata was also selected for two other locations on our itinerary. Given the repeated use of the same brand, I was left with the impression that the operator's relationship with the property influenced these choices more than our interests did.

They also included Lake Manyara on the itinerary with two nights at Manyara Best View and Spa, which, to my understanding, is owned or operated by Tanzanian Specialist. As we learned subsequent to booking and paying for the trip a year earlier, wildlife viewing at Manyara has been drastically reduced following the floods in recent years, so this stop provided next to no value relative to its time and cost, and did little to serve the primary purpose of the safari.

An extra night at Ngorongoro Rim Lodge also seemed unnecessary. Rim accommodation is expensive, and in our experience one night would have been sufficient. The additional night appeared to support the operator's logistics more than to improve our experience.

When I raised these concerns with the company, I received a boilerplate response that did not address the specific points I had raised.

My advice to anyone planning a safari is to choose an operator that designs itineraries around the client's interests and clearly explains its itinerary and accommodation choices. You should not have to conduct extensive independent research simply to cross-check the operator's recommendations. That undermines the purpose of hiring a safari planner.

Youssef made our experience that extra special. he was organised, attentive and managed to get us close to all the animals. There was a little confusion with the transfer coming a day early, and then being asked to pay for this error, tainted our experience a little, but overall, fantastic holiday

We used Tanzania Specialist to plan our honeymoon and it was everything I was hoping from patient iterations of the itinerary, to travel and transport, beautiful welcoming stays, and the most magical experiences of our life. It was a trip of a lifetime and made so easy thanks to Tanzania Specialist! 10/10 recommend.

The safari of our dreams comes true! The Tanzania Specialist was easy to work with customizing our dream safari to some of the most beautiful parks in Tanzania including the Arusha, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Parks. Travel logistics, keeping personal safety a top priority, was well coordinated by our experienced guides and the Tanzania Specialist agents.

Our safari guides Charles (unknown last name) and Hassan Mussa made our dreams come true with their excellent experience in finding wildlife. Hassan especially led us to see some of the most memorable encounters of wildlife! His experience in wildlife identification and behavior was invaluable for discovering many unique wildlife scenes. On our first day of safari in the Northern Serengeti, we witnessed a major wildebeest crossing at the Mara River! Thousands of wildebeests and zebras gathered and then crossed the river in a cloud of dust! What a magnificent African wildlife scene captured by photos and videos and better than any National Geographic TV program! We also experienced a rare sighting of the elusive leopard coming out of the bush and passing our vehicle. Many other memorable encounters with the Big Five: elephants, water buffalo, lions, leopards and a rare rhino sighting made this a memorable African safari.

In addition, the landscapes of Tanzania are truly remarkable! Traveling through the vast wildlife-rich savannas of the Serengeti, the magnificent vistas from the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater and its unique wildlife habitat in the caldera of an ancient volcano, the geologically remarkable East Africa rift valley near Lake Manyara, and the swamps and rivers of the Tarangire National Park made this a memorable safari adventure. Not to mention the many "African massages" on the unforgettable bumpy roads!

All of our lodging was exceptional including both the luxury camps and the hotels. There is no other place in the world where you must be escorted to your camp tent at night because of the nocturnal creatures that might be lurking nearby!

The people and the food of Tanzania are unforgettable! Our cooking class in a banana plantation near the village of Mto wa Mbu left us with a better appreciation for the everyday life of the local people. Our travels through the countryside viewing the Masai villages and learning about tribal life was fascinating!

Our safari adventure in Tanzania was truly a memorable experience designed with the help of the Tanzania Specialist team. Our group is very grateful and blessed by the time we spent on safari in Tanzania!

Communcation very very poor, several issues during the trip with no communication from Tanzania. Still waiting on refund for events that we paid for and were just never schedule by specialists. Had many logistical and schedule issues during the trip that made no sense and could have easily been avoided.

Tanzania Specialists have been amazing from start to finish. They helped put together our personalised itinerary which suited our needs, happy to make changes if needed. They were always available by wassap before and during to answer any questions. Our safari guide Davis Bugenyi was incredible!! He brought so much energy to our group, was so knowledgeable about the animals and birds and made every day fun. He had amazing insight into finding the animals in the vast wilderness, always showing respect for nature and listened and gauged our interests and needs. Every single day brought a new kind of unexpected magic. We can’t recommend them highly enough!!!

Our Tanzania safari was absolutely amazing and an experience we will never forget! From start to finish, everything was so well organised and enjoyable.

We were incredibly lucky to have the best tour guide, who was knowledgeable, friendly, patient and made the entire safari so special. They went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience, sharing so much knowledge about the wildlife, nature and local culture.

The staff were also wonderful — so friendly, helpful and accommodating throughout our entire trip. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and they made us feel welcome and well looked after every step of the way.

We saw incredible wildlife, experienced breathtaking scenery and made memories that we will treasure forever. We highly recommend this safari to anyone looking for an unforgettable Tanzanian adventure. A truly amazing experience from beginning to end!

The booking process was easy and attentive to my wishes. My guide was excellent. He was very informative, was a good driver on the rutty roads of the parks, and became a friend for the 10 days we were together. One area of improvement I would suggest is for the “in country” assistants be more responsive in a timely manner.

A well organised tour package with good hotels all across the trip, specifically the Safari. We were accompanied by experienced Guides who knew very well all of Serengetti, Tarangire and NGorongoro like their backyard. Sighting the big 5, up close and personal was a very unique experience for us and thankful to all at Tanazania Specialists!

Just back from an amazing 6 night safari and 4 nights in Zanzibar. What an incredible experience. All organised to a very high standard, our choice of accommodation throughout our stay was out of this world. Every day on Safari with our amazing guide, Ngonina, was breath taking and an adventure. We were very lucky and saw every animal..even the shy lepoard. Ngonina is an incredible asset to Tanzania Specialist with great knowledge and humour. Our trip was 5 star, once in a lifetime. Everything was great! All the attention to the cients all the time, the communication among them, everything worked very well. My bag was missing and Jackson took it very seriously and helped me a lot tracking the bag. And what about Mathew, the guide? My God! What a guide, what a person! He made our week amazing! Everything about our trip was fabulous. The guides were great, especially Jean-Rene who led us through Kenya. We saw all the animals we hoped to see in both Kenya and Tanzania. The accommodations we stayed in were great and the food was plentiful and delicious. Our trip was well planned by Joseline and there were no surprises along the way. The wifi at some lodges was a bit slow but was manageable and we generally had access to the outside world. If we decide to return for another safari we would definitly use Tanzania Specialist to book our trip.

My husband and I went on safari for our honeymoon and had an amazing experience from beginning to end. Rodgers and Prince helped us plan our experience and they were both very responsive with our many questions, communicated everything very well, and picked amazing lodges for us to stay at. Penuel was our tour guide and I can not say enough about him! He was incredibly knowledgeable about animals, plants, Maasai, and Tanzania. He was very pleasant to be around and we had a great time with him. Everyday he asked what animals we wanted to see, and everyday we were able to see all of them! Penuel has such a good eye, he pointed out several animals that we would have completely missed otherwise since they blend in with the environment. He also communicated with the staff at lodges that I am vegetarian so that they would pack me vegetarian food for lunches. If I ever come back for another safari I would want Penuel to be my guide again and I will absolutely recommend him to others.

Everything was absolutely perfect. Everything that Tanzania specialist planned for us could not have been more perfect, from the itineraries, to the lodges, also to the drivers and staff, and especially our safari guide and driver, Kishe. Kishe is a special person with a ton of knowledge and I would highly recommend future safari travelers to ask for him directly, you will not be disappointed. He made our trip extra special. Thank you Kishe and Tanzania specialist for a trip of a lifetime and a lifetime of memories.

Our safari was wonderful! We approached this as a once in a lifetime trip, but after it's over, I am totally open to the possibility of doing it again! It was amazing, and in our twelve days, we saw just about everything we had hoped to see.

Our guide Daniel was helpful and attentive, and clearly demonstrated why the tour guide profession is so competitive and respected in Tanzania. Driving in Tanzania is no joke, and his skilled driving and knowledge of the parks kept us safe and on time. All Tanzania Specialist vehicles all appeared to be in good condition (important because of the rough roads) and Daniel thoroughly cleaned the vehicle inside and out every night so it was ready to go each morning. He was in regular contact with other guides to find and share sightings that we’d be interested in. He was always considerate of park rules, other guides, and their clients (if they looked like they needed help, he’d check in and offer it). We really appreciated his help in our pursuit of bird watching (103 new to us species!) and appreciate the early starts and sometimes long days.

The tour guides with Foot on Africa in Mto wa Mbu for the night game drive (Ely and Shine) and the village bike ride (Ossam) were top-notch. They were very good representatives of their village and industry.

Staff at all of our accommodations were always friendly and helpful; always. When booking, we had asked for accommodations with running water (showers, toilets), with as much luxury as our budget could allow. I think we were slightly better than mid-level, dipping our toe into high-level? I REALLY enjoyed our tent camps (Serengeti Sound of Silence, Lake Burunge Baobab Tented Lodge, Gnu Mara Migration Camp, Embalakai Authentic Ngorongoro Camp) and if I were to do it again, I’d opt for tented camps as much as possible and minimize the lodges…you can stay in a lodge anywhere; safari tent camping is central to the experience (or at least what I had always dreamed the experience to be).

At a few of the smaller camps, our dinner table was set to include us and our guide. While we were fine having dinner with him, after a long day, I think it's understandable that he or we might have wanted a little down-time alone or with other people at dinner. I would suggest that Tanzania Specialists encourage guides/clients/the camp to discuss if guides and clients would like to eat dinner together rather than presuming.

There were a couple small negatives on the trip, but something that other prospective clients should keep in mind. The tour guides on two of our side trips were not particularly honest. A guide on day 1 pushed us to specific, persistent vendors with what we now know were quite high prices, and a guide on a cultural visit told our main guide he had to stay behind and then pressured us to pay an extra tip to the village chief. When I asked Daniel later, he told us that no extra tips for village chiefs were required (the village members are paid through the tour fee; any additional tip is purely voluntary), and apologized for the guide's behavior.

As a final note, I hope that Tanzania Specialists begins to actively encourage and develop female safari guides. From what I could gather, it’s not legal reasons that prevent women in the profession, but cultural norms. Culture takes a long time to change, of course, but hiring women into this respected profession is the right thing to do. Tanzania Specialists is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, tour operator in Tanzania, and they could definitely help to make this change.

We had an absolutely incredible experience with Tanzania Specialist, and much of that was thanks to Olosotu Raposhi, our travel consultant.

From our very first discussion through the booking process and right up until the day we travelled, Olosotu was attentive, professional, and always available to answer any questions. He made sure we were fully prepared and had everything we needed to enjoy a seamless and unforgettable holiday.

From the moment we landed in Tanzania, everything ran smoothly and exactly to schedule. We felt well-informed throughout, and every member of the team we encountered was kind, welcoming, and attentive.

A special mention must go to our guide, Agri-chas (apologies if I've misspelled his name). He was simply outstanding. An incredibly experienced driver and guide, he took the time to understand exactly what we hoped to see and never disappointed. We often joked that he had superhero eyesight because he could spot animals from incredible distances! Thanks to his expertise, there wasn't much that we didn't see during our safari.

We were even fortunate enough to witness the Great Migration, something that can never be guaranteed and made our trip even more magical. We will always be grateful to him for creating such a memorable and truly special experience.

Tanzania is a beautiful country filled with wonderful people, and it will always hold a special place in our hearts. Based on our experience, and from conversations with other travellers we met during our trip, Tanzania Specialist is, in our opinion, the best safari provider available.

We would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone considering a safari holiday, and we sincerely hope to have the opportunity to return one day.
