I placed an order for a Humanscale Freedom Headrest Chair on 23 June 2025, with shipping insurance and a stated delivery timeframe of 10 working days. It’s now been over 5 weeks, and not only has the item still not arrived, but communication from the company has been practically nonexistent.

Despite multiple emails and follow-ups, I’ve received no clear updates, no confirmed delivery date, and no resolution - just vague responses or silence. I’ve since seen other reviews reporting similar issues, which is deeply concerning.

This experience has caused unnecessary stress and wasted time. I've now had to initiate a chargeback and escalated the matter to Citizens Advice/Trading Standards.

I strongly recommend others think twice before ordering — this kind of service is simply unacceptable.

I ordered a refurbished chair which arrived broken. Informed their customer service via FB Messenger who said it was improperly fitted and a new replacement would be sent. After many chase ups, they claimed to have sent a new chair at the beginning of this month, which still hasn't arrived and they have ignored all my messages since...

Do yourself a favour and avoid this place .

I purchased a chair from The Office Crowd on the 16th June. After 10 working days with no update/delivery information, I took the advice of the other reviewers and directly contacted them, at which point they prioritized delivering the chair to me, which arrived soon after.

The chair arrived faulty, with a non-working gas tank. After discussions back and forth with customer service, I had returned the chair and received a replacement. But I had ordered the chair with all the features, instead they delivered the cheaper version that missed features. I am now trying to get a refund of the difference - as I had paid for a product that was not received.

Unlike the other reviews customer service has been responsive and they did try to help. But it seems this company is pretty incompetent in general - at the end of the day, I had to go through receiving a broken chair (no QC before delivery???), returning it, getting a new one that is the wrong version (again, what are they even doing??) and now requesting a refund, which is well over a 1-month ordeal just for a chair. Honestly just take your money and purchase from another company that better respects your time.

EDIT: I have received the refund for the difference between the chair I bought and the one I received. Still, the hassle and issues described make it impossible to give more than 2 stars.

After a very frustrating start to our order which resulted in a very negative comment on Trustpilot, I can only say the customer service afterward has been fantastic. We now have all chairs and are extremely happy with them.
They seemed to have a turnover of staff which didn't help but they have redeemed themselves.

I was nervous after ordering a Knoll desk when I saw the reviews. I emailed the owner as saw he had replied to someone to help. He immediately replied and that was late on a Saturday evening reassuring me everything would be plain sailing……and it was.

The desk arrived today and it’s fantastic. It was also super easy to put together with very few screws.

I would definitely use them again. Thanks to Ross & Stephen for excellent communication.

I ordered my chair on the 5th of July, and it arrived today, the 9th of July. I was worried about the delivery and whether I would get the chair because of the reviews on here. So I reached out to Office Crowd support tuck a little while but got everything sorted in a day with chatting to them, and my chair was shipped and a speedy delivery within a day. All round great if you worried about getting your chair or anything because of the reviews on here, speak to the support team and give them time to reply, as I got a reply and all sorted in a day.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I’ve been chasing the order for weeks now. The first email I sent was responded to by telling me not to contact them till after the 10 days. It’s now a week plus after that time period and still no update or idea what’s going on with my order. I’ve tried calling to no answer and now have no faith the product will be of any quality. Due to the ongoing situation I’ve had to contact my bank to cancel the order as I fear this is all a bit of a scam.

I purchased a reconditioned Herman Miller chair at the start of June. Once it arrived I found it to be dusty and in need of a good wipe down, but no staining and the plastics had no visible scratches. Upon further inspection I could only describe it as mediocre condition at best and that it doesn’t meet the 10 step restore process advertised on their website, which they say is performed for each reconditioned chair. Below are the problems I have.

The foam insert in the front is damaged, old and brittle with clumps missing and when sitting dust and bits often fall off. Very noticeable on a wood floor. The recon process says foams are replaced if worn or damaged - hasn’t been done.

The seat material has a small tear/fray at the front - ok fair enough for a second hand chair, would have been good to call it out in the description though as the material is tough and it scratches my leg.

One of the plastic mechanisms for the arm rest adjustment is broken, so that doesn’t work. The recon process says this would have been checked and replaced - obviously not for my chair.

Replaceable plastic arm rest cover is broken underneath causing it to lift when leaning. Again, something that should have been noticed and replaced under the recon process.

I could have purchased cheaper from other providers who also sell reconditioned chairs, but I thought by paying the extra and based on the information on the website I’d have got a better service.

Now on to service - I have emailed about the issues found, providing photos and offering solutions (either they send me parts and I can replace, or I can source, replace and they refund the difference. I’ve had no responses at all.

Summary - you can probably buy a decent chair here, but looking at the reviews it’s hit and miss. Customer service is non-existent, so if there is a problem you’re stuck.

Everything went wrong so I’ll just paste in my final email to them for you all instead-

I am writing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction with both the products I received from your company and the appalling level of customer service I have experienced throughout this ordeal.

The first chair you supplied was faulty—specifically, the armrests. This was then followed by a replacement chair in disgusting condition delivered to the wrong address. The situation was mishandled at every turn.

There was no quality control, no accountability, and certainly no meaningful apology beyond a single, perfunctory message at the very beginning. At no point did your team show any genuine concern for the inconvenience or frustration I was forced to endure.

The communication throughout has been appalling. Emails went unanswered by your staff and they even blamed each other for everything that went wrong. I was left chasing updates and re-explaining the same issues over and over again. Frankly, it felt like dealing with an amateur operation completely unequipped to handle basic customer service, let alone rectify a mistake of your own making.

In the end, I was forced to request a refund simply to put an end to the exhausting and unacceptable experience. Your failure to take responsibility, your total lack of communication, and your dismissive approach to customer concerns suggest a company that neither values its customers nor intends to improve.

I will be sharing my experience in public reviews so that other potential customers can be made aware of what to expect from your business. I suggest you urgently review your internal processes, because based on this experience, you are on a fast track to losing trust, reputation, and custom.

Honestly I cant think of a time that I have received worse customer service. I think this business must be incredibly badly run.

Bad product, bad service, and I had to nag for my refund - I thought this was going to end up at the small claims court.

The Office Crowd is were it's at! Look no further for the best of the best refillable and on time!

I know others have had awful experiences but ours was fantastic. The chair I ordered took the full ten working days to arrive via FedEx and was in fabulous condition. Kudos to the Office Crowd, thank you for our chair.

I ordered a Herman Miller Abak desk from The Office Crowd and was told it would be shipped within 2 weeks. It’s now been 10 days and I haven’t received any update or communication. The worst part? It is completely impossible to reach them.

I’ve called multiple times—almost every day—and no one ever picks up. No response. For a company selling premium office furniture, their customer service is shockingly unprofessional and unresponsive.

At this point, I have no idea if my desk is even going to arrive. I’m left in the dark with no support, no updates, and no way to contact anyone for answers.

Buy at your own risk. If something goes wrong or you need support, you’re on your own. I would absolutely not recommend this company to anyone.

Be aware, this company refurbishes / manufactures AFTER you order. This is how they can propose different color fabrics / leather on chairs, but this also explains why orders take long to ship.
They have a month of delay on average I believe. I orderer a refurbished chair on the 12th of mai, it was shipped on june 3rd. It arrived june 12 (I live in France). Very good condition, brand new upholstery, I'm happy.
If you order, just send them an email after the official delay expired (14 business days). I did and they flagged my order with priority.
They should definitely update their shipping times and be more honest about refurbishing after order, and give an indicator on how backlogged they are.
Otherwise, this seems like a cool company.

It took 10 weeks for my refurbished office chair to be shipped, which is a lot longer than the 5-10 days they promise. During this time it was almost impossible to contact them (I tried email, phone, web chat), and they didn't provide any useful updates.

However, when the chair was finally shipped, it was with Fedex next day delivery. The chair itself is great, and the price was really good, cheaper than a lot of competitors.

So I would recommend buying from The Office Crowd, but only if you have extreme patience and a lot of trust, and don't mind waiting several months.

Very delayed, poor communication after multiple emails, no straight forward response or updates. I ordered one small chair which has taken over a month... still not received or updated on when i can receive this by. Appalling service from this website. As an interior designer i would 100% avoid this company.

Should have listened to the reviews. It's been 4 weeks and I'm still without the chair, I got sent the wrong chair and it's still not been replaced, customer service has gone radio silent.

Ordered a refurbed office chair, was told it would be despatched after 10 days. Then was told there had been a delay - now the email correspondence has completely stopped, am not receiving anything back to my enquiries.

i ordered my desk nearly 18 days a go i tried calling and no answer i emailed no answer i tired to reach out on the portal no answer. I hope i get my desk. i am very worried that this is a scam.

DO NOT BUY. Taken money and not delivered item. Won’t answer emails or phone. Total scam. AVOID.

* Update after response from vendor. Amazing how they can respond when you’ve claimed your money back and left them an appropriate review!!

When money is taken and no goods are delivered and no communication is returned: It’s a scam. I’m not the only one having to leave a review of their disappointment to try and save others, and recover money through the bank, so shame on you Office Crowd.
