Be extremely careful, there is an agent here by the name of Stephane that will try to add whatever extra charge he can to your car.

We made a reservation online for 13 days, with 150km allowance per day.

They were impossible to get hold of all week on the phone.

Upon returning it there was nobody in the office, even though they were supposed to be open. We dropped they keys in the drop box.

Then they changed the duration of my rental to 12 days and charged me for the extra kilometers that exceeded the 12 day allowance.

Do not trust this branch, I cannot believe I was treated like this as a hertz gold member.

I have filed my complaint with AMEX after a very unsavory interaction via email with the branch in question.

Stay away. They charge you for insurance even though you have waived additional coverage. Subsequent customer service is horrible.

They took out 250€ on our visa that we would get back within 30 days. Never saw our money again!! The car was spotless, returned in perfect condition. We contacted rental cars and they said we probably signed something whe shouldn't have... You can only come in with one person when you collect the car, you are jetlagged and trust the very friendly people at the desk... big mistake! Do not rent a car here and don't work with rental cars, no service what so ever...

ATTENTION ARNAQUE !!!! J'ai loué une voiture la semaine dernière. Lorsque je l'ai récupéré elle avait déjà des rayures/accros. Quand j'ai redeposé la voiture 3 jours après, dans le même état que je l'avais prise, j'ai alors eu la surpise d'être débité de 522euros de dommages sans justificatifs, ni preuves!!!!
Àce jour je n'ai toujours pas de réponse du service client et comme par hasard on ne trouve pas mon dossier en agence. Ne surtout pas louer de voiture ici.

I had a very unpleasant, stressful experience when attempting to collect the car from the Thrifty office (via Do You Spain) at Barcelona Airport.
All was going well until I told the man the man behind the counter that I already had my own insurance.
After that my credit card was 'mysteriously' declined when I presume he 'attempted' to swipe it for the normal 1000 Euro excess.
I always carry a second card from a different bank just in case, however when he repeated the process he told me that this had been declined as well.
He said that it was due to my credit limit being exceeded.
This was not the case because I know that the limit on each card far exceeds the 1000 Euro that is required.
He then told me that the only way that he could issue me the car would be if I took out insurance from them, which was going to cost me over 300 Euros.
I decided to leave the office with a view to phoning my bank.
In the end I decided to return to office where upon the same man said he would try to take the money for the insurance from my original card and then cancel the transaction. He told me that this had worked and he was then able to swipe the card for the excess.
The next problem then was that the car I ordered was now not available. How could this be when I had booked the car in February and it was now May?
Although the car I was given was an upgrade it was larger than the model I ordered plus it was an automatic.
When I returned home I phoned both credit card companies and was told that they could not see a reason why my cards were initially declined.
I won't be renting with Thrifty again.

Scammers.
They are trying to debit me additional costs for damages already present at the car collection.
They added me costs for services not required.
If they will not refund the frauded amount I will report to the Police

🚨 Warning: Damage Scam at Thrifty Valencia Airport Classic damage scam. I was given a car with a small, irrelevant ~1 cm mark in a hidden area. When returning it, they tried to charge me for it, even though it was clearly there from the start...hidden Staff were extremely rude and hostile. Totally experience. Avoid this location it was a nasty experience to deal with nasty staff and nasty practices. Never again

Obwohl ich der Dame am Schalter erklärt hatte dass ich das Angebot genau so nutzen wollte wie bestellt und KEINE Zusätze brauche wurde mir eine zusätzliche Versicherung untergeschoben
Letztlich kostete der Mietwagen 132,71 Euro
Check 24 macht da gar nichts obwohl ich mehrmals auf den Betrug hingewiesen hatte
Ich habe letztlich teuer gemietet
Check 24 App ist gelöscht
Bei Thiftry miete ich nie mehr
Leute lasst euch nicht auf diese Machenschaften ein und bucht bei Unternehmen die keine solch unterirdischen Bewertungen haben

Watch out, these guys are scammers. They sell additional insurance policies without any explanation. Clear violation of EU policies. They should be sued more systematically, to be taken out of business! Will now start my part!

Nie wieder Thrifty über Hertz am Flughafen Malaga.Trotz bereits über den Vermittler Check 24 ohne Selbstbeteiligung abgeschlossene Vollkasko Versicherung wurde mir eine Supercover Versicherung in Höhe von 369 € untergeschoben. Diese Versicherung lag über dem tatsächlichen Mietpreis des Wagens . Über eine Betrugsanzeige wird nachgedacht.

Deliberately miss sold premium add on at Malaga airport which wasn't discovered until the charge came through AFTER returning the car and returning to the UK. I informed the man at the desk i had already taken out this with another third party, and showed him the print out of this. He fully understood and even explained to me that if i had an accident, i would pay Thrifty the excess, and then claim it back through the third party. Yet still this was then charged to my credit card on the day after i returned. BE WARY!!!

I experienced the same problem/scam reported by others who have left reviews. I hired a car from Thrifty through DoYouSpain and when I collected the car from Thrifty, or should that be Shifty, I discovered I had booked full to empty. Because of this the additional insurance I had taken out with DoYouSpain to cover my excess was according to person on the desk at Thrifty useless. I had to take out their cover costing an additional 270e. I have always booked full to full and if this is not a scam why couldn’t I simply change the booking to full to full. This would have allowed me to use the extra insurance I had taken out with DoYouSpain. It also begs the question why did DoYouSpain offer me the extra insurance and allow me to pay if it was “useless”.
The car I was allocated had some severe issues that made it dangerous to drive. The language switched from English to Spanish and the driver aids worked occasionally making driving the car a nightmare. For example, it would fight me, sometimes, when I tried to switch lanes. Every time I used the car I had to reset the driver aids/controls that was is impossible because I don’t speak Spanish. It was a new car that had clearly not been set up correctly before I was given the keys without any instruction.
I complained to both Thrifty and DoYouSpain without success. The responses I have received have ignored my complaints.
My advice to the Thrifty, change your company name to Shifty to more accurately describe how you operate. My advise to DoYouSpain either read complaints thoroughly or respond to the points that have been raised.
My advice to those wishing to hire cars. Don’t book with Thriffy. I have always found DoYouSpain to be okay but after this experience I would suggest it may be better to book directly with the hire company. DoYouSpain may appear a cheap option but it has cost me almost £600 for two week car hire in Spain.

Heimlich wurde mir eine Versicherung von 118,29 EUR verkauft und mir wurde gesagt, ich brauche ja keine, da ich bei der Allianz versichert bin.

Und das von einem Tocherunternehmen von Hertz. Schämt Euch zu Boden!

Scammers!!! Be careful with these,came to collect the car and on a paper was only one scratch they marked,when came to the car,it was all in scratches,so filmed a video all around and some photos.
When returned the woman came to check the car and jumped straight to the rare bumper and underneath:D she found a scratch and tried to blame me,as she knew it won't be in a video,as who films underneath :D
She was very rood,threatened loosing deposit etc. But i said im not signing anything and today i got my deposit released in full,if i would signed,i would probably lost the deposit.

Ich werde diesen Anbieter niemals mehr nutzen! Es wurde, ohne nähere Erläuterung, eine nicht vereinbarte “Kautionsversicherung” abgebucht. Grund war angeblich die Nutzung einer DebitMasterCard. Eine ebenfalls bei Anmietung über Check 24 nicht erwähnte Kaution für die Tankfüllung konnte erstaunlicherweise über die genannte DMC hinterlegt werden.
Der Mietpreis betrug 114,00€, die “Kautionsversicherung” kostete 250,00€.

Fazit:
Bei “Thrifty(Hertz)” handelt es sich um einen extrem unseriösen Vermieter, den man besser meiden sollte

Poor, poor, poor. It’s just a cheap headline price, but impossible not to pay insurance as they make it clear that the merest mark would be charged thousands. The car was already scratched and dented, but nothing was marked on the sheet and was told it was immaculate. A disappointing and poor experience. Won’t be going back.

This company is so stupid. According to their site I was supposed to pay 160€. But once I got to the airport the minimum price I would have to pay was 370€ without insurance and 510 with insurance which obviously is ridiculous when you’re expecting to pay 160€. Suddenly there was a bunch of sneaky extra costs which are never even mentioned when booking online. A young driver fee 80€ a service tax 48€ a fuel fee of 120€ and some other stupid stuff. I would advise to go to Record Go also in Malaga airport, I went there on the same day I was supposed to rent from Thrifty and in the moment got a deal of 180€ for 9 days without any sneaky costs suddenly popping up at the desk.

I booked a car in Valencia during 2-7 april 2025 and at the renting office they put on my renting invoice also the full insurence although i has already bought full insurence from booking. They took my money from the credit card on 10 april without any notice, they took 159 eur. No one at the deak asked me if i want the insurence or not. Never again i will rent with this company, they are thiefs and abuse of the clients.

Der versprochene Preis wurde vervierfacht. Die Gründe waren meiner Auffassung nach fadenscheinig.
