I booked this day out for me and my wife, thinking that I'd see a lot of 1980's racing cars, especially F1 racing cars of that era. How wrong was I. The racing cars consisted of old bangers and tiny low powered Formula Ford things trundling round at low speeds, compared to that of 1980's F1 racing cars. What happened to the screaming V8's, V10's and the V12's? I could've saved my money and watched local go-karts in my home town. Parking was great and the security manning the parking but the food and drink was grossly overpriced, shame really as I fancied some hot food, so ate my picnic I had brought with me as a backup. The funfair was a poor show and the barrier around the concert was a poor idea, only allowing in 499 people at a time. Therefore, if you left the concert arena area to nip to the toilet or grab a drink then you were doomed, unable to get back into that area. I found the music disappointing too. After the 80's tribute group finished we waited a good hour until the Queen tribute band came on, which is ridiculous. As soon as they started their first song I upped sticks and left. We had had enough. I definitely won't be returning. Waste of money, especially when programs were £7 each!

We visited Thruxton for their Retro Festival event. We went last year and it was really good, lots of stuff for the kids to do to keep them entertained. This year there was none of it and the kids were so bored we had to leave really early. No circus tent with performers like last year, no bar in the big tent by the stage, only 3 really expensive fairground rides which were placed in a very bad location right next to the stage and drowned out the performers with excessively loud music. Last year there were loads of inflatables and rides which were all included in a one off price for a wristband to have as many goes as the kids wanted, all day. Food and drinks were massively expensive (but to be expected, it is the UK after all). There was lots of car racing as expected (it is a race track after all) but I feel it was mid advertised as an 80’s vibe family festival. In truth it was a petrol heads festival with nothing for families with kids other than sitting and eating/ drinking the over priced food and drink on offer. We definitely won’t be visiting the Retro festival again, especially for the price of £25 per adult.

Sadly, I have to give the Thruxton Retro 80's 1 star, as there's no option to give it 0. Compared to last years Retro 70's which was great. So much so, we book again this year making the 3 hour journey to a total let down.

The set up of the main arena was ridiculous. Segregated by a barrier manned with some of the unfriendliest staff. 400 people stage side with the remainder on the outskirts.

The bar was a total joke... Couldn't have been sited any further away from the main stage. 2 staff members serving with a poor drink selection

Food vendors mediocre... nothing special.

The Queen tribute act may have been decent.... who knows... couldn't hear him over the amusements which we were told by a member of staff was going to be turned down... and wasn't.

We left after the second song.... back to our camp site to play Queen on my Bluetooth speaker and have a beer with the gang.

Total let down...

More effort required....

I can not recommend the 4x4 junior experience enough. My daughter had the best time, Lawrence showed patience and made the whole experience enjoyable and rememberable.. from taking time to talking to us as parents to listening to my daughter and putting her at ease with her nerves.. they went from plodding along to actually getting into the ruts.. defo recommend!

The activity was great. Unfortunately nowhere to get a coffee, which is why only 4 stars.

Really good my son enjoyed it he was nervous at first but the instructor soon it him at ease

I will be booking again and also purchasing as gifts for other family members to enjoy as well.
I shared my experience with a young driver who had only been driving a year but I think it’s such a great gift for anyone who is new to driving to build up confidence and could end up saving their and others lives x

Well organised, lovely people and good weather.
Good instruction, well prepared cars and persistence in getting me fitted into a single seater despite size 12 feet.
Enjoyed the various cars and laps. Clearly not going to make it as a racing driver given that I was consistently overtaken by Steve (a Thruxton Circuit professional driver) in a Toyota Corolla with three passengers....but then so was the Ferrari ;-)

Loved driving the Alpine A110 and Open Wheel Race Car. Super nice instructor and I went to my own limit. The race car experience was advertised as Formula Renault, but I think it was actually a Formula 4 because they had a 4 speed manual dog box shifter. I was a bit nervous because I was hoping for paddle or sequential, but it was lots of fun anyway. My first car ran out of petrol on the last lap but they made it up by giving me two videos instead of one. Some of the paddock guys were a bit grumpy and unfriendly, but I didn't mind because it felt like real racing so it was great despite the imperfections. The car is rev limited and after 5 laps I was confident to have more horsepower. The desk staff were super nice and the experience was well organized.

I attended the skidpan experience with my son and we had so much fun learning how to control the cars when they started to skid.

My initial welcome was great, friendly and informative (sorry didn't get a name). Andy, my instructor was fabulous. Friendly, calm and so knowledgeable. The trip round first with him driving was great fun - and then the fun continued when I was at the wheel. Really great day - I loved it. Thank you

Considering the history of the circuit and fairly simple layout (at least on the map) I didn't have huge expectations for that visit - boy, oh boy, was I wrong.
This is the fastest race track in the UK, it's plenty fun and it can get you on multiple corners. It's a flowing circuit so you can enjoy the limit of your car of choice for hours. The venue is fantastic and the hospitality centre has been refurbished recently and it's lovely, modern with everything that's needed - nice restaurant, huge balcony overseeing the track etc.
The team is fantastic, from the knowledgable ladies behind the registration and photo desk, all the way to the brilliant instructors.

It was cancelled 2 hours before we were due there due to instructor sickness and couldn’t find another instructor

The experience was for a 98 year old and the team could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. The instructor was superb - and everyone made it enjoyable whilst ensuring safety as the highest priority. Our resident was a big fan of sports/racing cars and the experience was incredibly special - seeing her relive something she truly loves and reaching speeds of 130mph! A big thank you, and well done to all involved.

Tiff Needell is a wonderful chap, a great entertainer and a superb driver!
He has even helped Lewis Hamilton win his first Ferrari GP win with his positive vibes and words of encouragement!

My stepson thoroughly enjoyed his passenger rides, the drivers gave him a fantastic experience and the two guys running the paddock were amazing with him.

Booking was easy using a voucher and additional top up. Good communication throughout. On the day the check in was easy and the experience in Tiffs Taxi was amazing. In addition to Tiff throwing the car around the circuit, l now have a better idea of the outfield for the spectator events.
