Great Service - Highly Recommend

I was looking to purchase a watch and was recommended this company by a friend. From the first call to my watch being securely delivered almost to the minute i was expecting it, everything was perfect. The watch itself was polished and looked as good as new and surpassed my expectations. Could not be happier and would highly recommend anyone looking to purchase a watch online to use Watchmaster.

AVIOD THESE PEOPLE

Same as some other reviews - they claimed to be able to sell my Panerai watch in a matter of weeks, now several months on nothing, no communication whatsoever. Now they want to change an extortionate fee for me to get my own property back.
There business model is - stock an online store with someone else’s property and either sell for a profit or charge them to get it back.
In the meantime I have sold 2 watches on EBay without any stress. AVIOD THESE PEOPLE LIKE THE PLAUGE.

We are operating in unprecedented market conditions with our conversion being 60% below our historic performance. We are hopeful that the market has normalized and we are about to enter into typical Christmas seasonality.
I gather that you have sold a watch to us before and that this experience was up to your expectations?
Could you potentially also share what watches you have been able to sell through Ebay since listing your Panerai with us? I would be keen to understand what strategy you applied to achieve respective sales to see whether we can utilise a similar approach on our site?

My advice for anyone buying a watch…

My advice for anyone buying a watch from Watchmaster is, GET YOUR WATCH CHECKED NOW.
I bought a 2006 Rolex Sea dweller from Watchmaster in 2020, and at the time was very happy with my purchase.
This year, I decided to upgrade my watch to something a bit bigger and a bit more expensive. I sent an email to Watchmaster to ask if they could sell my watch so I could put the money towards another watch. (Regarding this experience, please see my review from earlier this year. You'll find it under 1 star reviews).
Just remember this piece of information,it's important to what happened later.
I was told by Watchmaster after sending it to them that my watch needed a new bezel, which would cost almost £500. I asked Watchmaster to send me my 2stvh back as I want willing to buy a new bezel for a watch I had bought from Watchmaster about 16 months before and had hardly worn, certainly not enough to damage the bezel. Watchmaster also charged me £50 to send me my watch back by UPS. After I posted my first review, Thomas, the manager of Watchmaster phoned me after reading my first review and reimbursed me the £50 as a gesture of goodwill because he didn't think a new bezel was needed after looking at the photos of my watch.
So, to get back to this review for Watchmaster. I saw a watch on Watchfinder, a Rolex Deep Blue for sale. I got in touch with them and they told me that if all checks they carried out were ok,and no issues arise, they would give me £8500 in part exchange for my Sea dweller.
Unfortunately after Watchfinder had my watch for a couple of days, they got in touch with me to tell me they couldn't part exchange my watch because the BEZEL WAS FAKE, AND THE GLASS WAS GENERIC. I couldn't believe it. I could understand it if I'd bought the watch off eBay,but not Watchmaster. I phoned Watchmaster straight away and told them what Watchfinder had said. I also demanded a refund because my watch was still under warranty. Watchmaster wanted me to send the watch back to be checked, but I wanted an independent check carried out on the glass and bezel. I was only going to send the watch back if I got a refund. Thomas the manager said he would like to put things right because the watch was worth more than I paid for it. But he didn't offer to refund me for the price the watch was worth now, which I thought was unfair. And is the reason I am writing this 1 star review. As you can tell, not getting the real value of the watch back because the bezel was fake has left a bitter taste.
As I said at the beginning of this review, if you have bought a watch from Watchmaster, think about getting it checked. Don't leave it until you want to sell or part exchange it. Your warranty might have run out by then. I felt embarrassed that Watchfinder, who were absolutely brilliant in their professionalism said my watch had fake parts on it and generic glass. Swerve Watchmaster if you're thinking of buying an expensive watch. Selling a watch worth thousands that has fake parts is indefensible, unprofessional and very very wrong.
And by the way, the watch I got a refund from Watchmaster for is back on sale in there shop for £9100, not far off 2 grand more than what I got back as a refund

Dear Darren,

let me first of all apologise. Your description is far from the experience we envision for our clients. Let me please briefly comments on the different issues you have pointed out.

(1) GLASS - we resell pre-owned timepieces. Just several years ago it was common practice in the industry to replace Rolex crystals with aftermarket glasses that do not feature the lasered Rolex crown. These glasses are of the same quality, with the missing lasered Rolex crown being the only difference. We did not replace the crystal on the watch you purchased from us. I therefore assume that the glass was replaced prior to the watch arriving with us. We should have spotted this and replaced the crystal with a Rolex original glass, however, our watchmakers are also only human beings that can make mistakes. We therefore offered to replace the crystal at our cost.

(2) BEZEL - I need to respectfully disagree with Watchfinder's assessment. The bezel on your Rolex is not aftermarket. Upon you asking us to resell the watch on your behalf we did recommend to replace the bezel to allow us to resell the watch as "Very Good" and thereby maximise the return and minimize turnover time.

(3) REFUND PROCESS: It is my understanding that upon you providing us with the feedback from Watchfinder we did offer to replace the crystal and double check the originality of the bezel and replace it if necessary to allow you to resell the watch to Watchfinder. You rejected this offer and asked us to process a refund. We obliged you in this request and also refunded you the interest you paid to V12 to ensure that you do not experience a financial loss.

SUMMARY: When dealing with pre-owned goods mistakes can happen, however, we always look to do right by our customers. If a mistake is made we will rectify this mistake at our cost. This is why buying from a dealer like ourselves is preferable to buying from a private person.
We offered to rectify our mistake also to you. You rejected this offer and asked for a refund.

Regardless, I fully understand your frustration and I am truly sorry for the inconvenience you experienced. Your rating is well deserved and we are continuously working on further improving our standards.

ohne jegliche Erfahrung und Ahnung im Verkauf von Rolexuhren wurde mein Fatalismus nicht enttäuscht.
Ganz im Gegenteil, mein Vertrauen auf diesem unbekannten Gebiet wurde durch kompetente Beratung und Informationen gestützt und nicht missbraucht.

Charged extra, around 150.00 that I did not agree to as they said they changed the strap from an original in perfect condition to a generic strap. I asked why and did not get an answer.

Selling two watches. Horrendous experience.

I have two watches with this company to sell for me.

I was assured that they would "fly off the shelf". As it turns out; 5 months later, nothing could have been further from the truth.

I have reduced the prices beyond the level the advisor quoted as a "minimum sale price", and still nothing.

To add insult to injury, not only am I tied into a 12 month contract by which my only option is to chew my way out by way of a 1,500 odd pound penalty, this penalty is the commission for selling, which not only have they not achieved, but it is indexed to the prices of the watches that were set by them, which is now significantly higher than the current asking prices. So seller and company do not share in the reduction of price, it's solely the burden of the seller.

Frankly, the whole thing feels like a bit of a ruse to get punters to spend money on refurbishments and contract buyouts.

Watch sellers steer clear if you possibly can.

Having sold my Submariner through their main competitors and it going through seamlessly, I can tell you that it needn't be this challenging to dispose of timepieces.

We are operating in an unprecedented market environment with many of our historic sell-through times no longer proving to be true. Turnover times have been particularly impacted since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine and the economic uncertainty that has engulfed our society ever since. On top of the macroeconomic environment being unfavorable the secondary luxury watch market has been negatively impacted by price instability resulting in a softness in conversion that we as a company have thus far not experienced.
Regardless, we are now entering the busiest time of the year. I am therefore hopeful that we will soon find a buyer for your two watches.

I am very sorry to hear that you are disappointed with our service and particularly that you were unaware of the fact that you entered into a 12 month contract with us. We have tried to summarize our key contractual terms into a single page contract and do also try to review these key terms with every customer prior to accepting a watch for sale. Upon listing a watch we have significant upfront cost and hence ask for a 12 month right to sell your watch to provide us with a fair chance to find a buyer for your timepiece. Our business model is by no means designed to earn money from contractual buyouts or refurbishment services.

Le 4 mars 2019 j’ai adressé ma montre

Le 4 mars 2019 j’ai adressé ma montre, son boîtier et ses papiers d’authentification.
Après réception par la société Watchmaster des frais de vérification du bon état de la montre et de mise en service (polissage,remplacement de la pile…) me sont réclamés.
Malgré une baisse du prix pour réaliser la conclusion d’une vente aucun résultat.
Plus de trois ans après la société Watchmaster me renvoie ma montre avec un remontoir détérioré, sans pile et en ayant perdu le certificat d’authenticité.
Bien sûr ils ne sont pas responsables de la détérioration et ils n’ont jamais reçu de certificat d’authenticité.
A vous de voir, s’agissant d’une société dont le siège est hors de France les recours judiciaires en cas de problèmes sont coûteux et compliqués.

Given the long duration you left the timepiece with us this is particularly disappointing, and I can hence understand your frustration with us as a company. However, I do need to respectfully disagree with you comment that we lost any original paperwork belonging to your timepiece. Our records clearly show that your watch arrived w/o original papers also confirmed in the consignment agreement you signed with us that states missing paperwork. As to the watch winder we provided as an apology for our failure to sell you watch; I am sorry that it is not working. We send these out in original packaging and don’t test them before shipping. We would be more than happy to replace the watch winder in case you would allow us to do so.

Cependant, je ne suis pas d'accord avec votre commentaire selon lequel nous avons perdu les documents originaux de votre montre. Nos archives montrent clairement que votre montre est arrivée sans les documents originaux, ce qui est également confirmé dans le contrat de consignation que vous avez signé avec nous et qui fait état de documents manquants. En ce qui concerne le remontoir de montre que nous vous avons fourni pour nous excuser de ne pas vous avoir vendu votre montre, je suis désolé qu'il ne fonctionne pas. Nous les envoyons dans leur emballage d'origine et nous ne les testons pas avant de les expédier. Nous serions plus qu'heureux de remplacer le remontoir de montre si vous nous le permettez.
