I had an excellent experience throughout the whole process from speaking with Sue to coming home.
Everyone has been absolutely wonderful; coordinators, the surgeon, all the doctors and nurses.
Recovery is really good so far, considering my surgery only a week ago.
Anyone that's thinking of doing it, I highly recommend, you will be in really good hands.

Everything went so well in Riga. Very efficient, very clean. Having op buddies definitely helped, so making use of the groups on Facebook and WhatsApp is a great idea.

I wouldn't have considered going abroad for surgery before discovering WLR. I was blown away by the incredible reviews, the support of the Coordinator and the many hundreds of other patients, all of whom gave me endless information, advice and the confidence to go abroad, on my own, for major surgery!
The hospital is immaculately clean and the majority of the staff are fabulous. Some are utterly delightful, a few less so. It is worth saying that their culture is slightly different to ours, so expect a more robust approach to whipping your top off and getting on with things!
I have been in both private and NHS hospitals and would rate Aiwa Riga amongst the very top.
The pre-op tests are extensive, much more thorough than in a UK hospital. I would 100% recommend paying the additional £140 for sedation for your endoscopy. Without it I understand it can be quite an unpleasant procedure.
As it was, I knew nothing! Everything was incredibly efficient, almost conveyor belt in its efficiency, but that isn't a criticism. You spend three full days in the hospital. You're lucky if you get one night in UK.
The difference for me was the UK coordinator, your op buddies and the FB community. They offered moral support and answers at all times, especially on the odd occasion there may have been language difficulties.
Flights are much more expensive at short notice during peak times but even so, my total expenditure was less than half of what I would have paid in UK. And you get a couple of days to explore a new city. What's not to like?!

Fantastic hospital, clean and comfortable experience throughout. You are welcomed and shown around the various parts of the ward, the pre-op tests and day of operation went on without issue. Travelling out there alone for surgery, as I’m sure many others do, can be scary but the staff are kind and make you feel safe. I’m 6 months post op at the moment and still get little check-ins from the team to check my progress. I would happily recommend them to anyone considering weight loss surgery.

Great experiance, efficient staff, immaculately clean. Would definitely return.

Excellent experience at weight loss Riga. Mim was lovely and very helpful when booking and Valentine, the nurses and surgeons were amazing in Riga. Couldn't fault anything.

I flew out to Riga on the 26th June 2022 and had my revision surgery (sleeve to bypass) on the 28th.
The whole experience was a pleasure with all the arrangements going smoothly with no effort from myself. Weight Loss Riga is totally customer centred - you're practically treated like royalty.
The hotel is fabulous, the clinic is modern, well appointed and scrupulously clean. The staff are, without exception, friendly, helpful and professional throughout.
I 100% recommend WLR to anyone who is considering weight loss surgery.

I’m absolutely over the moon I did ..

From booking until being dropped back off at the airport, fantastic, worry free experience! I went alone for a gastric sleeve and was looked after brilliantly. I met 7 other ladies from the UK who were there for surgery so didn't feel completely alone. The hotel was brilliant - clean and spacious and the pillows were so comfy! The clinic was spotless and a nurse arrived within seconds of pressing the call button. Some staff struggled a bit with English, but nothing some hand gestures and breaking it down a bit didn't sort out! I'm now almost 3 weeks out from surgery and have no regrets whatsoever. If you're thinking of booking, do it!!

I am deffo happy I made the right choice going to WLR. Tbh, I was very nervous going there by myself and being a coloured person but the whole experience was amazing. The hospital staff were nice and very professional. A big thank you to Valentin, the patient coordinator, he was so go good and patient. Even when I messaged him at odd hours to seek assistance he was there to help. Thanks to the entire team they were all awesome.I will always recommend WLRIGA To friends and family.

I had a Bypass on the 10th June 2022. As an NHS worker, i found the whole experience was seamless from the pick up and then to the drop off at the airport. Hotel was very comfortable and right in the centre of Riga. Valentin, the patient coord in Riga was professional, kind and always at the end of the phone. The Drs and nurses were great. The pre op tests were thorough. The sedative for the endoscopy was well worth the extra pennies. I had a private room in the Aiwa clinic, which was comfortable and right by the nurses station. The surgery was straightforward and I felt safe in the care of the multiprofessional team. The only thing I would have liked to have been given was Prophylactic anticoagulants, in view of having several risk factors for developing DVT ie flying to and from Riga, obesity, age and of course the operation itself. I would definitely recommend WLR to anyone!

Excellent experience from start to finish. From the coordinators to the surgeon and everyone in between, everyone was genuinely so helpful and attentive. Couldn't have asked for better care. The hotel and hospital were spotless and I would highly recommend Riga!!

So pleased I found this company. Clinic was spotless, coordination was seamless and very pleased with surgery and results. I am 4 weeks post op feel excellent and I am losing weight steadily. Would highly recommend. If you are having doubts speak to the advisors and they will get you in touch with real people with real experiences I think you will be impressed.

5 STARS WELL DESERVED - I tend to ramble on but will try not to. Initial consultation with staff was great. So friendly, not pushy at all. Procedure arranged easily and in quick time. Lots of updates before procedure. Everything in Riga was perfect. Easy pick up from airport. Nice hotel. Lots of communication. Considerable pre-op checks were very reassuring. Artur, the facilitator, took me through everything and explained the paperwork and procedures brilliantly. Endoscopy under anaesthetic is a must for me, having had one without in the past. Nursing staff were wonderful. Communication was not a problem. The clinic is clearly focussed on comfort and keeping patients relaxed. Everything very clean and uncluttered. Spoke with surgery staff prior to op. Felt reassured. Post op, the nursing staff really excelled. Excellent level of care. They got me up on my feet, got me to walk, provided plenty pain meds and were generally encouraging. I travelled out a few days early and spent time walking around Riga old town. It's beautiful and I'll be going back. I also took an extra hotel day after discharge just for peace of mind. I'd recommend it. I took the full package which includes the endoscopy anaesthetic and the nutritionist. I am in regular contact with Guna, who is knowledgeable and very helpful. I'd recommend this personally, for help with post procedure food planning. I have no regrets at all. I travelled to Riga with high expectations after reading about Weight Loss Riga beforehand. My expectations were met and surpassed. The patient facebook group is fantastic and shows how genuine the clinic is and how confident they are with their service. There is a wealth of knowledge by former patients. Again, this is very reassuring. Finally, don't think for a moment that the cost and travelling abroad may mean some kind of risk or diminished levels of service and care. It's simply not the case. This is a top quality service with high standards and excellent levels of care. I'm simply delighted.

From beginning to end the Riga Weight loss package was very organised, with a seamless journey from airport pickup to hotel. Hotel to clinic and back again. Coordinators were there to answer any questions.
