I was responded to quickly from first contact. The hotel used is very comfortable and all transport between riga airport/clinic/hotel is provided for just £10 (at time of writing review) each way.

The clinic is clean and the pre-op tests are very thorough. The clinicians speak English well enough to be able to convey any information that is relevant.

I saw both the anaesthetist and the surgeon before the op. I was given a report (in Latvian) of all the test findings to give my gp at home.

The co-ordinator, Sue, was easy to contact via WhatsApp and responded timely.

The online presence on Facebook speaks for itself.

All in all it was a successful trip and I'm at home now 4 days after my operation recovering well so far. Wish I'd done this years ago.

From start to finish the service is seamless! They really take care of you right from booking. Being in Riga the hospital was spotless, the nurses and doctors treat each patient like a VIP. The pre-operative tests are thorough and you never feel like you are unsafe or not knowing what is going on.
I had a gastric bypass 30th October 2021 and to date have lost over 4.5 stone! I recommend Weight Loss Riga to anyone and everyone who will listen! Don’t waste your money on UK private surgery when extraordinary service and care is available in Latvia.

Am I glad that during my research for the right weight loss clinics I found Weight Loss Riga. From initial consultation with Mim/Sue the UK coordinators. I was truly looked after. Once my date came and I arrived in Riga, everything was exactly as described. Artur who is the Riga side coordinator was first class. Literally it ran all like clockwork. The wider clinical team, the pre ops tests, my wonderful surgeon. Everything made me at ease. Literally the flight out/back is the only time I was ever alone. I never felt scared, uneasy or doubted my decision. The sense of team spirit you make in the WhatsApp groups as soon as you book are amazing (hence you are never on your own) My time flew, the whole thing was so quick, Incredibly easy pain management, in fact the last time I ever needed any pain meds was the day I left clinic to fly home. I’m now two weeks post surgery and including the prep op diet I have lost 2Stone! Thank you in particular to Ruth who was one of my nurses. What a beautiful soul she is. I have to say I found the whole trip actually enjoyable, life changing and so glad I did it. Oh and the clinic is beautiful!! So clean and Uber efficient. Thank you Weight Loss Riga. You all looked after me so well.

Now 4 weeks post op... I researched many places/countries for over a year after reading many horror stories. I then found WLR and researched the surgeon Dr Igors Troickis (there are other surgeons but I only wanted him) and felt very secure to proceed. I didn't want a 'package' that enticed you with free extras or excursions and just wanted transparency. It's run like clockwork and faultless. The hotel was great, the hospital spotless and the day of pre op tests is long winded but they are so thorough that I felt I'd been given a good M.O.T. The staff are amazing and most speak English but honestly it's not a problem, just remember you are in THEIR country. The patient co-ordinator Artur is lovely and very thorough with explaining what will happen and your transfers. I highly recommend joining a WhatsApp group so you talk to people who you will probably meet at the hospital, it's invaluable and a month out we talk all the time and share helpful tips, it really makes you feel part of a group rather than alone and gives you so much support. I highly recommend this company in every aspect.

This was a great experience from start to finish. Very well organised by Mim & the team. Excellent accommodation, centrally based. Transfers were seem less. The clinic for the operation was very well organised and all procedures were carried out with great care and attention from the staff. The procedure was carried out excellently with minor discomfort. Artur gave clear information. I know I’ve made the right choice in having my bypass with WLR. I’d definitely recommend it if your considering surgery.

What an incredible journey! From the start, communication with the UK liaise Mim was outstanding. I was throughly supported when I had to postpone my surgery due to covid which was a huge relief. Weight Loss Riga kept on top of everything really, all I had to do was sign and turn up. Hotel was lush, all transfers were included so less to worry about. The Latvian patient liaise Artur was also fantastic keeping me in the loop and explaining things for me. The clinic was spotless, a cleaner came into my room twice a day, masks at all time and they challenge if you don’t have one on which I felt was great. Pre ops were explained fully to me and I didn’t find any language barrier issues. The surgery itself was great, met my surgeon the night before who went through what I can expect and offered reassurance. I felt very safe and knew I was in great hands. Going under the anaesthesia was fine, both anaesthetists were lovely and again made me feel safe. Ward nurses are lush and on it with the pain meds, one nurse in particular called Ruth was outstanding. Lots of encouragement for recovery and going as a group was the best, I made some friends for life.

From getting off the plane to coming back the service was spot on I'm so glad I went to riga for my surgery it was very professional very clean and very organised the surgeon was very friendly and him the nurses and doctors spoke good English the language was not a problem. I cannot fault the staff at WLR hospital, the surgeon, the nurses, Artur, everybody so professional and helpful.

Bit late I know .But I had gastric bypass on the 15/07/21 I went into the surgery prepared and a bit scared obviously going abroad on my own .well from the minute I landed in Riga I was looked after met 3 great ladies having op same day hotel was lush and clinic spotless .they do extensive pre tests to be safe and my surgery went fine in 4 and a half months Po and 5 stone down so far would I recommend yes and would I do it again 100% yes thanks weight loss Riga team

I have had a very good experience in Riga. The hospital was impeccably clean the staff were lovely only issue so many didn't speak good English, all the organisations went like clockwork between Aurther and all patients..meet lot amazing friends on the same journey..
1 week out today I've lost 14.5lbs. V Happy.

Just returned from Latvia Riga weight lose.

Everything happened as promised on time and even with a covid scare the situation was handled very professionally.

The cab pick ups wher on time , the hotel top notch , the clinic very clean . very little language barrier especially if you try a bit as well.

all together very pleased no regrets .

Must recommend to get on a good forum/whatsapp group that helps in a massive way.

Slight language barrier sometimes but besides this so worth the money and effort of travelling abroad for anyone hesitating - don't just go for it!!

I was so nervous about Choosing WLR but there was no need to be ! Looked after better than our own NHS. A beautiful City and a spotless hospital and accommodation. Communication was key and very clear at every stage from initial consultation from the lovely Sue to every stage in the process. Norman and the nurses kept us informed and looked after with all the pre ops and obs after the op and Artur was brilliant also with the organisational side of stuff. The surgeons were also very attentive and listened to your queries and requests. I cannot thank them enough. A second chance for me, they have given me a tool that I never thought possible

I went to WLR for a gastric sleeve and from start to finish it was a very professional operation with someone to answer any questions i had 24/7, even in latvia infound my experience well organised, relaxed, professional and incredibly organised, im home now and in great recovery within a week and already started losing weight, the whole team from mim and the team emailing me back, artur and the nurses and doctors....amazing! Thank you WLR!
