Our experience with African Budget Safaris was perfect from beginning to end thanks to travel agent Claire Monson. Claire was extremely efficient in working with my dream safari travel agenda. She mapped out our travel plan proposal complete with prices in less than 24 hours. Surprisingly even with the time difference between the US and South Africa and her brief family vacation, Claire picked up every call, returned my calls, or answered texts within 15 to 30 minutes. Our pick up and drop off times traveling between countries and local tours were perfectly calculated. We were amazed at the organization of the company and subcontracted vendors at each destination. Furthermore, it seemed as if Claire had our itinerary memorized since she could always answer questions without hesitation. We felt like we were old friends visiting from abroad who she was personally attending. Claire is a five star travel specialist who leads the way for African Budget Safaris 5 star ratings. Everywhere Claire sent us, we felt a very warm welcome and enjoyed the cultural experience as well as the the hospitality of the local people. Our safari was a wonderful experience!

The 2 Safari experience we did( the mobile bush tenting experience in Botswana & the Zambia fixed location tenting experience) we trips of a lifetime. The guides and the support team were superb. All very knowledgeable and assisted in every way to make the trip memorable. AFS did an exceptional job arranging all internal flights and accommodations along with knowledgeable staff meeting us at the airports to facilitate our moves to accommodations and keeping us informed of all facets of the trip. The itinerary was well laid out and easy to follow. Descriptions of camps, accommodations, flights, vehicles, etc. all accurate. Thanks for a fantastic adventure.

We could not have put this incredible trip together without Claire at African Budget Safaris. Claire planned a trip based on everything we wanted that let us experience “raw” Africa and luxury Africa. Every flight (and there were many), pickup/transfer and accommodation went smoothly with no issues. Throughout the planning process and while we were on our trip, Claire was always available, prompt to reply and very knowledgeable and helpful. The organization was on the best level. From the first day of arriving till the last day we were under the caring help of our guides. The lodges and guesthouses had everything for a comfortable stay.
The safaris and trekkings impressed us 100% and we saw all wildlife as expected before the trip. We would like to say that we got the maximum we can get for money.

I have booked a number of safaries through "African Budget Safaris" (ABS). I have mostly worked with Chris for my safari booking. In February 2024, I did the "Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Safari in Uganda". The trip was fantastic and Chris did a wonderful job in geeting the booking done for me in time and providing all the relevant information and documents. I would recommend ABS to anyone for their Safari tour arrangement in Africa.

The job that Bronwyn does is just amazing. She was always available, ready to answer all my questions and give me all posible alternatives and solutions to my concerns. Booking a safari in Africa online is not an easy process but Bronwyn really made me feel that I was in good hands, from the beginning of the booking to the end of the trip. She is always kind, pacient and fast to solve every issue, she went the extramile for me and I am very happy to have had her as my online companion for this adventure. I will definitely recommend African Budget Safaris to everyone traveling to Africa.

This was my second safari booked with ABS and the second one arranged by Bronwyn. She worked with us over two years planning this trip. She made great suggestions for a safari with two young children. She was very responsive throughout and her recommendations proved spot on. Our eight and ten year old grandkids loved every minute as did we 3 adults. The tour guide company (Asila) provided an excellent safari guide/driver. The safari camp accomodations were superb. We wouldn't hesitate to have ABS and Bronwyn plan our next African adventure for us.

Never having been on an organized tour before, we were a bit apprehensive, and presumed that something would go wrong. Well, how wrong we were. Everything was amazing and not a thing to worry about. From the first tentative enquiry to Harriet, at SA Budget Safaris, to the time we got home, everything was just perfect. Harriet was very quick to respond to any enquiry and change anything we asked for. All the information we got was fantastic. We were met at the airport and the driver showed us where to get our sim cards and waited while we sorted our phones out and got some cash. A warm welcome at Safari hotel and such a relaxing place to unwind. Great gardens and a lovely lounge room to relax in. Wonderful dinner and breakfast. The drive to Kruger the next day was very interesting and a few stops along the way. We stayed at Panzi Lodge, and the accommodation and staff were great. So friendly, and the food was amazing. We were told what time we would get picked up at and what to expect, so we just had to be there and everything else was taken care of. All the drivers were so knowledgeable and friendly. The driver we had for two days on the safari was Frank, from ‘Bongan Safaris’. What a guy. He never stopped looking for animals, birds, plants etc. and was so enthusiastic about everything. We had a full day with him and even when he dropped us off at 7pm, he was still pointing things out. So many wonderful animals and we got so close to many of them too. Would recommend this travel company to anyone and definintely 5*, (even though we did a budget Safari 😉)

It was so easy communicating with African Budget Safaris, despite being based in Australia. Daniel responded to all my many email enquiries quickly and with all the information I needed. He was able to design a personalised safari in Zimbabwe and Botswana which was excellent and within our budget. We loved every minute of our tour, with many highlights including, but not limited to, the Victoria Falls walking tour and helicopter flight over the falls; a 4 hour canoe trip down the Zambesi River; a sunset cruise on the Zambesi; fabulous hotels, particularly in Botswana; safari cruises on the river at Chobe and plenty of big game sighting on game drives, with helpful, efficient and friendly guides looking after us. We loved that we weren't in a big tour bus, but had our own friendly driver. Our itinerary was packed full of activities and we loved every minute of our safari. Very flexible. We had a tight schedule and budget, but the team stuck with us and came up with a couple of good options. We had a great time on safari and would definitely go back

Daniel was the main person who helped me plan and execute the plan. He was very helpful and friendly, and available for any questions or problems I had throughout the trip. That was very reassuring!
However the trip went seamlessly, and all the connections were there and available when they were supposed to be - all the flights, hotel reservations etc. So that was great!
Also we really enjoyed the 2 camps we were booked into - Flatdogs in South Luangwa, and Baines River Camp in the lower Zambezi. Both of them took amazing care of us, with super friendly staff and great food. The wildlife guides in the National Parks we were with were very knowledgable, and helped us find every animal we requested them to, including a chameleon! (How he saw a chameleon is still a mystery to me. The guides seem to have binoculars built into their eyes :-) )
We had a wonderful time, and will definitely use ABS for future trips. Thanks so much.
I'm a bit sad that it is all over.

We were a group booking. Unfortunately we were waiting for a passport and Chris was excellent in organising the paperwork. Everything was very clear with no issues with international bank transfer. Communication was great with speedy replies and assistance. Delays in arrivals were sorted and we did not miss out on anything.

My family just came back from a trip to Victoria Falls, game drives in Zimbabwe and Botswana that we booked thru African Budget Safaris with Daniel. We loved their very helpful, detailed extensive website: that’s what caught our attention in the first place. Daniel was very responsive, knowledgeable and helpful. He was very understanding and accommodating to our situation with a child and gave us a great deal. We were very happy with a walking tour along Victoria Falls as well as a helicopter trip over it. Game drives in Vict Falls with Michael and with Bheki from Hwange Safari Lodge were super exciting and breathtaking. Both guides were very knowledgeable and passionate about what they were doing and deeply cared about all wild life and delivering the best experience to us. Our trip was very memorable. We were very happy with our choice.

The company was great. Always helpful and I got fast replies to all my questions. The organisation of the whole trip was impecceble. Everything was pre booked as promissed. Will consider you for sure on my next trip to this lovely country.

Right away, we were assigned a consultant, Harriet, who lived in the city we were heading for. Being a local helped answer some questions we had about our arrival in South Africa and our connection to the tour we had booked. Every time we wrote to Harriet she responded overnight. Every time. At one point, we had an unexpected cancellation of another major component of our vacation that affected our safari, Harriet was there to help us manage changes with our booking. Payment with the secure payment partner was easier than expected. Good experience all around!

This is the third time I have used African Budget Safaris and have never been disappointed. They have many tours to choose from in many categories. This time around I chose to do an overland tour from Johannesburg ending at Victoria Falls. Overlanding is fun and an adventure and you get to leave behind home comforts and experience the African way of life and wilderness. You also get to meet new people from many other countries. No 4 star hotels here, you spend a lot of time travelling in a specially converted truck and this is where you eat 3 meals a day. Evening accommodation mostly is in fixed safe tents all of which have their own bathroom and toilet etc. I would certainly recommend African Budget Safaris and I would like to mention my agent here Claire Monson, whom for the third time now has arranged my tours with expertise and knowledge. She is very passionate being involved in the African travel business and I couldn't think of anyone better to communicate with whilst booking my safaris. Thank you Claire.
