Great value, very friendly staff. When I needed to speak to someone it was very quick to speak to a person and not a chatbot.

I’ve hired many cars before and Alpha are up there with the best of my experiences. Staff, including their shuttle bus driver, were very personable. The car itself was as described, clean and tidy, however the inside windscreen could have done with a better clean as I did experience a bit of glare when driving into the sun, apart from that small detail, they do a great job and I will use them again.

Was great, when made the booking via Jetstar all through to picking up the car even when wanted to extend the rental whilst had the car was easy.

My whole experience with Alpha was exceptional. From very reasonable prices. To customer service and assistance. I even extended my rental period for an extra 2 weeks. Would recommend to anyone.

Very poor communication and false advertising on insurance. Do not trust this company!

I booked through Booking.com and paid in full for a rental car one month in advance for 10 days. My credit card was charged in full at the time of booking. My plane was delayed and arrived at 6.10pm. Alpha closed and there was no customer service available. I called the next day to collect the car and Alpha had cancelled my booking and labeled it a ‘no show’. I was advised by Booking.com I either needed to rebook another car or lose my money. The operator advised the same car was now going to be 3 times the price I had already paid!

1st time we hired from Skopje with Alpha. It was all good and smooth also a brand new car. I am giving a 4 instead of 5 stars because the fuel tank was supposed to be full. We are glad we checked because it was half full. But had no problems cause we advised immediately while we were still at the airport with the guy. Was strange because they also blocked €164 for fuel too apart from the €700 security money. Money were in the bank again after a month but from the Balkans is always like this. In general we were very satisfied. Thankyou

In July 2023, I rented a car through Alpha Car Hire. During my travel in Brisbane, I was involved in a car accident where the back of the rented vehicle was crashed into by another moving vehicle. I then submitted relevant evidence to support that the other party was at fault. Initially, Alpha Car Hire committed to not debiting any excess since there was clear evidence that I was not at fault, and the Client Service had left a note in their system for future reference. However, when I returned the rental car at the airport, they changed their statement and said they had to debit my credit card for the excess of $X000. I didn’t have sufficient time to reason with them because I had to board a flight heading back to Perth.
The General Manager at Alpha Car Hire later explained that they must recover full payment from the at-fault party before they can refund me the excess, and that this “will be finalized in 3-4 months” (i.e. by 9 March 2024). It has now been 8 months since the accident, and I have followed up on several occasions (as attached) but did not receive a response. I am writing this review to share my experience with others so that you might be aware of the same challenge in getting your money back should you decide to hire a vehicle through Alpha Car Hire.

The car hire was made via Booking.com so we thought we would be OK.
We should have known when we arrived to collect the car that things would not go smoothly, when the staff struggled with a new software system, installed on their iPads, which could not respond to the input criteria to issue the pre-booked vehicle. This was after a long wait at the airport, interspersed with phone calls to the depot, to discover where the shuttle bus would collect us.
Having eventually completed booking-in we left the depot, having been assured that all road-toll charges incurred would be automatically collected by Alpha cars and re-charged to our registered card for reimbursement. Subsequently, toll charges were invoiced and we paid them as agreed. Four months after returning the car without incident, we received notification of a traffic infringement fine issued by the police, for non-payment of a toll charge for a stretch of road which was included, in between our very first journey from the depot to our final destination. This "non-payment" of a toll charge was for a piece of road on which we travelled, which lay in the middle of two toll sections, which were effectively the same road!
We also were charged by Alpha Cars an administration fee for emailing notification of the fine.
Subsequent research revealed that Alpha Cars would have received TWO invoices from the Toll Company notifying them that the car was not registered for toll-travel on the piece of road in question, the first invoice being within issued THREE days of travel on the road in question.
They obviously ignored these invoices so that they could charge their customer an administration charge of $99 and cause the Police to issue a fine of $192 for apparently refusing to pay a Toll charge.
A later journey on the same piece of road during the car-hire was charged and repaid without any problem.
All emails to Alpha Cars regarding their incompetence and misinformation about toll charging procedures have been ignored, by the depot concerned and upper management levels.
We would recommend that all car-hirers AVOID Alpha Cars at all costs because their procedures cannot be trusted.

I rented a car from Alpha car 4 months ago. A month after returning to my country, they deducted 99 aud money from me because a traffic ticket was issued, I said okay, I said I didn't make a sound, I said it could be. Now again today they deducted 99 aud money from my account today, no questions asked, no questions asked. What kind of theft is this? How can he constantly deduct money from me without my knowledge and permission? Don't trust this company. Never give them your credit card number. It's unbelievable. I traveled all over Asia, but this company was the only thief. I want my money back immediately.

$1000 bond taken unfairly with no willingness to engage, The car was fine but now I feel totally scammed

If you’d like to spend your work trip hearing Debi’s creative reasons computer says no then by all means give Alpha a shot! Or just stay home.

A shuttle picks you up from the airport and takes you to the car. We had a very smooth pick up and drop off. Much cheaper than the other companies.

AVOID this company. It is more secure and reliable for consumers to choose Hertz, Avis, Budget or Enterprise etc.

I hired a car from Brisbane Airport from Alpha Car Hire and had a breakdown on 12 November 2022. That’s ok, these things happen. This is not my grievance. Alpha Car Hire debited $960 from my bond for repair works and this is the issue - they have refused to supply any garage report or paperwork whatsoever to support their withholding of bond. I’ve asked over ten times but they simply ignore my requests. THERE IS NO ACCOUNTABILITY FOR MONEYS THEY TAKE and Australia Consumer Act doesn’t apply to them. Refusal to provide me with a professional garage report means I’m not able to lodge a claim with my insurer who would otherwise pay for car hire excess deductions. I only used this company because when booking my Jetstar ticket, Alpha car hire comes up through cross-marketing channels otherwise I’d never heard of them. Consumers should AVOID this company because you have plenty of other options for car hire so why take this risk. Play safe and choose another car hire company. It is not worth letting Alpha Car Hire sour memories of your Australian travels.

Overall a good experience. The shuttle bus from gold coast was very quick (waiting about 15 minutes) and the car was in good condition with friendly staff. Only downside was long wait times (about 40 minutes) at the office in order to get sorted and on my way. Booked online.

This company promote themselves as proudly Australian owned and I was very happy to support them. Unfortunately they use an offshore call centre to answer phone enquiries and take bookings. These people have no local knowledge. I made a booking for my daughter to attend a friend's funeral at a small town about 40 minutes drive from the Sunshine Coast Airport. The girl said there was a shuttle service. She didn't tell me the office closed at 12 midday on Sundays nor that you could book for 1/3 of a day if you needed a few extra hours rather than pay for two full days. When my daughter arrived at 11.40 am she found the shuttle service wasn't operating. Another couple were in the same predicament. I called the phone number given which went through to someone who said the office was closed and there was nothing they could do - she had no contact numbers for local agents. The couple and my daughter caught a taxi to the office - which cost $40 - and found the office was open and they were able to get their cars. Meanwhile I'd demeaned myself and abused the poor girl on the phone who finally admitted she was working at a call centre in the Philippines. My daughter had to shorten her stay because there was a COVID case in the house she was staying. She took the car back within the 24 hours but still had to pay for 2 days. There was no record of the authority to use my credit card which I'd scanned and sent to the call centre when I made the booking. There was no shuttle service back to the airport so she had to take a taxi. I spoke to Kayne at the Brisbane office the next day who sounded very helpful and said he'd look into it and get back to me. I asked for a refund of 2/3 of a day and the taxi fares. That was ten days ago and I've heard nothing. This is so disappointing. Don't use this company until they sort out there operations.

Unlikely to use these guys again. We booked a Moving Truck about a month before and was not told that it was in an accident 4 days before and was no longer available until we came to pick it up. Our friends waited around while we rushed to another company who could help us out. We were lucky our moving plan wasn’t stuffed up and we had no help from Alpha.
