I signed up for Anxiety UK, much like everyone else due to COVID-19 lockdown worries. I was assigned a therapist very quickly and the process was painless and simple. I didn't need to hunt anyone down or do extra work. You also get headspace for free and this has been brilliant! The experience has been positive and is great value for money.

Anxiety UK has been a massive help for me - helped me to find a therapist who I knew would be specialised in anxiety rather than having to scroll through pages and pages online and trying to figure out which therapy was right for me. Referrals team were also super helpful with helping me decide what type to go for. Have been matched up with a great therapist, and added bonus that with the anxiety uk membership the rates per hour are slightly less than if I were to go directly to her! Thank you this has really helped me to start to take control of my well-being.

I have just completed a 14-week course of CBT counselling organised by Anxiety UK for the anxiety I was suffering from in the Autumn of 2020.
I am extremely grateful to my counsellor, for leading me through a clear and comprehensive process to identify the cause of my anxiety and reduce its effects down to a level I can now manage myself.
Back in September 2020, at the start of the second pandemic lockdown, I started to become extremely anxious about the state of the world regarding the pandemic and global issues such as population control and climate change.
We identified that much of my anxiety was in fact caused by my concern about my own health and my ability to provide for my wife, children, and grandchildren if I became ill and was unable to support and protect them against these issues in the future, as I had done up to now.
This in turn we traced back to a medical I had six years ago which suggested that I might have prostate cancer. Up to this point I had never considered my own mortality and the realisation that I would become dependent of other people, rather than them being reliant on me caused me great anxiety.
The ability to discuss these issues with my counsellor, being outside the usual family and friends was extremely helpful in allowing me to reduce my worries about many of the global matters and concentrate on the fact I had done pretty much everything I could have done to support my family in the past and that becoming dependent on others in the future is in fact unavoidable.
Using the discussions in our Zoom meetings and a series of exercises and homework he managed to focus my mind on the cause of the anxiety and provided the methods and tools to manage myself.
Undoubtedly the best part of this for me was the discussions in the online meetings. I have always found the best way to reduced concerns you have is by talking through them in full confidence with somebody outside your social circle and being encouraged to write them down and literally file them away.
I have benefitted significantly from the counselling and I am incredibly grateful for his calm and measured manner in assisting me to manage my anxiety.
I would unreservedly recommend CBT Counselling to other people suffering from anxiety and in particular express my gratitude to my counsellor for his expertise and Anxiety UK for putting us in touch with each other.
Thank you.

I have only joined this week as a member but so far i am really impressed. The beating the blues cbt course is really helpful, i am loving having full access to headspace and there are many more things i am yet to look into. Admin have been helpful and kind. so far so good.

I found their services easy to access and extremely good value. I used the links to therapy counselors and also attended a group session. You need to find what is right for you but I was particularly fortunate to get connected with a fantastic counselor.

In desperation it was reassuring to find informative and sympathetic support

My session time was changed I couldn’t make the new time and my code won’t work for booking a substitute. My complaint wasn’t dealt with so I paid £10 for no session and lots of stress.

I tried to cancel my membership online. Took an unauthorised payment. Emailed them 4 times to sort out. Had to telephone in the end. I was contacted in the evening pointing out the terms and conditions stating I did not reply to the renewal email ... that I did not receive. Also not been able to see anything in my Online account. Dealt with poorly. I would not trust such an amateur company. I will take them to court if they do not sort out.

Calm club hypnotherapy yesterday was truly wonderful. Best nights sleep I've had in yonks. The guys who answer the phone really supportive too and have helped me through some really difficult days.

Like many others, I too was disappointed with Anxiety U.K. I feel that they don't provide anything useful and that much more information and support can be accessed freely through real charities like Mind or the NHS.
In my view Anxiety U.K. is a profit driven, uncaring organization that is happy to use vulnerable people in order to make money.

I joined Anxiety Uk and decided after a year it was not for me so cancelled my membership, no problem. Since then even though I have emailed and emailed to ask them to stop they keep sending me emails, yet another arrived yesterday about renewing my membership!!! I would email again but the will likely tell me there will be no more emails then apologise then of course completely ignore my wishes so I see no point. Never again and I would not recommend to anyone.

I joined anxiety uk back in June 2019, mainly for the discounted headspace app. I recieved an email in May 2020 regarding automatic renewal and if I didn't want this I simply needed to email back stating cancel membership and my membership would be cancelled. So, I did this and receive a confirmation email stating that the membership would not be renewed and my details had been removed from the system. June 2020 I received an email from Anxiety UK saying my membership had been renewed and the membership fee had been taken from my account. Of course I was outraged as I had followed the steps provided and cancelled my membership. I emailed back stating i expected a full refund or I would take out a dispute with the bank. I received an email from the "charity" apologising for the error and that the money would be refunded. It was within two days. I thought this would be the end of the saga but I was obviously naive. July 16 I have an email from anxiety uk stating my membership had been renewed and the fee had been taken from my account. I simply couldn't believe it. A so called charity supporting people with anxiety actually causes people more anxiety than they would have to begin with. I emailed back stating that this was a breach of trust, contract and GDPR. Why are my credit card details still on the system ? I received an email back the next day apologising again and stating my refund would be in my account within two days. Please do not join this so called charity, it only brings more anxiety and distress. It is essentially a scam and I have reported them to my bank account to stop future payments.

They made my anxiety worse.
I am so disappointed in this company.
They auto-renewed my membership after a year. I did not know about this but they said it’s in the T&Cs. I emailed them to cancel and ask for a refund on the day I noticed the £40 had gone from my account.
It took over a month of emails and phone calls to finally get £34 refunded. They still charged me £6 for some reason?
The chap in Membership was very uncaring and condescending, and I ended up with more anxiety than before, so ironic!
I feel that people with anxiety should stay away from this company as it seems their caring is only for money!

I joined AnxietyUK without any research so decided to cancel my subscription after a day or so (Having read other bad reviews) without ever having access to Headspace. Although I cancelled within 14days cooling off they charged me £6 despite me telling them I did not work due to my anxiety and money was short. Their
response was the charge is in the terms and conditions (similar to insurance companies)
and that the value of services I had received was greater than £6.
When I pointed out to them I hadn’t used any services as I’d cancelled within 1-2 days their Operation Director argued that I had access to services and therefore the charge was justified. Whilst I can accept such a service charge from an insurance company where you could have made a claim I think to use similar terms and conditions by a charity to extract money from you says it all.

Wish I'd read trustpilot before subscribing last year. They just want you to buy books etc. Subscription is automatically renewed at the end of the year, apparently no way of getting out of it. Very poor, taking advantage of vulnerable people.

I would give them zero stars if I could. All they want to do is take money from you. The therapists are not very good and usually have little qualifications. For an extortionate fee all they do is give you access to a website with information that you could easily get from the NHS website. Their staff are rude and inconsiderate. This company caused me more anxiety! After many phone calls and emails I finally got the service cancelled however one year later they took another payment from me without my knowledge and without any direct debit setup. Surely this illegal. If you are suffering with anxiety please go to your GP. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

Resposta da Anxiety UK
Anxiety UK are a Private Limited Company and a charity with the stated aim of helping people who suffer from anxiety disorders. However, this must have gone missing somewhere along the line because there seems to be considerable emphasis on generating profits and income, which in 2019 totalled £888,000 according to online records.
With Anxiety UK everything must be paid for, even information about anxiety and mental health conditions that are freely available on other, more helpful websites and certainly through the NHS.
In order to access information and therapy, one must take out a membership costing £40 a year that renews automatically every year. When taking out the membership a lot of personal and sensitive information is requested and stored by Anxiety UK and if one goes for the therapy option, they become even more intrusive and collect further sensitive and personal information such as mental health history, details of medication, GP name and address, income details and so on. As soon as I realized what I let myself into, I asked to cancel my membership. This was less than 24 hours after signing up but I was refused nevertheless.
I was going through a difficult time and decided to try the Anxiety UK therapy services. My therapist was a complete disappointment as I felt that he lacked experience, was not competent and showed little commitment. It seemed to me that his main concern was not to work ethically and responsibly, but to earn an easy income from the comforts of his house. The therapy sessions were delivered on Skype (and this was before the pandemic), had no structure of any kind and were all the same with no progression or goals. On one occasion the therapist was going away for the weekend with his girlfriend and suggested that the session went ahead as planned, presumably to retain the fee. I felt that it was inappropriate of him to offer to carry on the therapy session regardless, as there may have been someone else present in his hotel room. On another occasion he used the session to talk to me about Astrology.
There were many similar occasions in breach of the BACP guidelines, and I strongly believe that he was working without a supervisor because he proposed that we met for the therapy sessions in a public park. The therapist was regularly boasting about this capabilities and knowledge and continually talked about himself or about his other clients. I believe that he felt such a sense of self-importance and was so enthralled by himself that he thought that merely showing himself on Skype meant delivering effective therapy.
Anxiety UK clearly state on their website that they accept therapists that are not fully qualified or sufficiently experienced. I felt that Anxiety U.K. were not sufficiently concerned or able to recognize that things went wrong. They asked for feedback but did not acknowledge it because it was not what they wanted.
As I wanted to make a complaint, I made a Subject Access Request, but curiously Anxiety UK had nothing at all about me! Initially they did not even acknowledge my Subject Access Request and eventually refused it on the basis that, somehow all the information they collected about me had never been collected. Their director of communications replied after repeated requests with what I thought was a rude email, saying that they are a small team and can't dedicate resources to my request.
This was a traumatic experience that left me bruised, in many ways. Anxiety UK claim to help vulnerable people but, in my experience, can do a lot of damage instead.
I find it very sad to see that Anxiety U.K. are continually reporting this review as defamatory rather then acknowledging that they let me down.
