The sale advisor ''Katie'' took her time to explain the layout of the property we are purchasing, both internal and the external fixtures, this was a great opportunity to familiarise ourselves with the environment, she did highlight what to expect as in the time range by which the new built property will come to completion, and the legal aspect of exchanging the contract.

Dream home turned nightmare
After several construction delays, we were finally able to move into our family home. However, less than three weeks later, we experienced a serious escape of water. On returning home, we found water running down the stairs and through the ceilings, causing significant damage throughout the property. The downstairs flooring and upstairs carpets were ruined, along with our 11-month-old son’s bedroom and furniture.
As a result, we were left without a home. Although Avant arranged alternative accommodation for us in an Airbnb, we repeatedly had to chase for payment to ensure our booking was not cancelled, which added unnecessary stress and uncertainty about where we would stay.
Thirty-six days after the incident, we were able to move back into the property. Even at that stage, the home had not been fully repaired and a number of snagging issues remained outstanding. We chose to return so that we could celebrate our son’s first birthday and Christmas in our own home.
From January to the present day (10 July 2026), the repairs still have not been fully completed. In addition, we continue to have unresolved snagging issues that were identified prior to completion in September 2025.
We escalated our concerns to the Regional Director, Luke Scarborough, in the hope that this would lead to accountability and progress. Unfortunately, we were met with further empty promises, which reflected our wider experience with the West Midlands team.
We have only ever wanted our home to be restored to the standard it was in when we first moved in. I work in customer care myself and have remained understanding throughout this process, but that goodwill has not been reciprocated. There has been a significant lack of any goodwill gestures throughout this ordeal. The level of stress this situation has caused our family has been unacceptable, and we have not experienced the level of support or commitment we would reasonably expect from Avant. I would never buy an Avant Homes house ever again based on this experience.
What should have been one of the happiest periods for our family has instead been overshadowed by stress, uncertainty, and an ongoing effort to have our home completed to the standard originally promised.

Andrew, the Site Manager at Avant Homes Darrach Fields, is a genuinely kind and helpful person. He is always available to listen, resolve issues, and support homeowners whenever they need assistance.
When we first moved into our home, we experienced several issues, but Andrew worked hard to get everything sorted and made sure we felt comfortable throughout the process. If it hadn't been for Andrew, we would probably still be dealing with many of those problems today.
A huge thank you to Andrew for his dedication, professionalism, and willingness to help at all times. He truly goes above and beyond for homeowners, and we really appreciate everything he has done for us.

Great experience so far - shout out to our great Site Manager, Andrew!
We’ve had a great experience so far at Darach Fields (in our new home five weeks). All the Avant staff have been really helpful. In particular our Site Manager, Andrew has been amazing - so friendly and no job is to big an ask! Hugely appreciate all his help.
Marked down one star as we had a fairly big water leak through our fire alarm on our fourth day in the house which wasn’t ideal. Avant out of hours were super quick to send a plumber to assess within a couple of hours and then site staff came a made good any damage the following day. Really appreciate the quick response so would have been 5 stars if we hadn’t had that issue.
Otherwise we’re so impressed with the quality and build of our new house! Thank you so much Avant!

We can’t thank Janice and Caroline based in the current Dundee site enough for all their help and support these past few months. New build at Darach Fields
We bought a new home at Darach Fields, Glasgow, last year and, unfortunately, our experience with the aftercare service has been disappointing.
Since moving in, we have reported several snagging issues. While some have eventually been resolved, it has required constant chasing on our part. We still have a few outstanding issues that were reported over 10 months ago and 6 months ago respectively.
Communication has been the biggest frustration. We are repeatedly told there is a backlog and that the issues will be reviewed, but no timescales are provided. After each enquiry, communication often stops for weeks until we follow up again.
We understand that delays can happen, but we expect better communication and a clearer plan for resolving outstanding issues, especially when purchasing a new-build home. The lack of proactive customer service has been disappointing and has taken away from what should have been an exciting experience. our experience has been one of delays, poor communication, and having to continually chase for updates since last year.
Update as of 9th July after Avant Home’s comment - we’ve provided the requested information to Trustpilot.

We provided our details on 9th July but have not received any further communication from Avant since then. This is exactly the kind of delay in communication we've been referring to. It is both disappointing and frustrating.
We also called customer services and were told someone would get back to us within one day, but we are still waiting for a response.
During the buying process, the sales team gave us plenty of attention. However, once the sale was completed, the level of customer service changed completely. It feels as though customer satisfaction is no longer a priority.
Based on our experience, we would not recommend Avant Homes to anyone.

An absolute nightmare! Stay Clear!
Our experience with Avant Homes has been incredibly disappointing from the moment I collected the keys on 26th June at Odette Point.
Buying a new home should be an exciting experience, but instead it has been stressful, exhausting and completely overshadowed by issues that should never have existed on a brand-new property.
When we completed, the house was not in a satisfactory condition. There were numerous defects and safety concerns, including protruding nails from the flooring, screws sticking out of external grates, a broke front door and back gate that would not lock, missing items, damaged finishes, incorrectly installed tiles, missing shower components, poor workmanship throughout and even rubbish left in drawers, chewing gum in the sink and an upstairs toilet that someone had left human feces in. We also discovered that the drainage channel at the threshold was only cosmetic rather than functional.
To make matters worse, work still had to continue after legal completion, meaning we have not yet been able to move into the property. I have three young children, aged 2, 4 and 7, and I work remotely, so the disruption to our family life was significant. What should have been a fresh start has become weeks of appointments, tradespeople, chasing updates and rearranging our lives.
One of my biggest concerns has been the rear garden. I paid extra for this plot but i was disappointed to discover just how steep it is. Avant's response was that I should have understood the gradients before purchasing. However, they themselves later had to install four to five additional steps at the front of the property because of the steepness of the plot. If experienced builders could not fully anticipate the finished gradients, it seems unreasonable to expect purchasers to do so. We were only told of this change days before we were due to complete, so had no option but to accept it.
Communication has also been frustrating. While individual members of staff have been polite and have worked hard to resolve defects, we have often felt that our concerns have been minimised rather than genuinely understood. We appreciate the efforts of the site team to rectify issues, but many of these problems should never have reached completion in the first place.
We understand that new-build homes may have minor snagging items. What we experienced went far beyond normal snagging and fell well below the standard we expected when purchasing a brand-new home.
A home is one of the biggest purchases a family will ever make, and we expected far better quality control, preparation before handover and customer care from Avant Homes. I have raised a complaint with Avant and they have proposed an insulting ‘£300 as a gesture of goodwill’. I will be taking my complaint to the Ombudsman, as they need to be held accountable, for making one of the biggest moments in your life an absolute nightmare.

New home experience
This is a first time for us going through a new build purchase process. It was a great experience from start to finish. Everything was broken down and explained clearly. Our purchase was Richmond Heights and we were looked after by Cheryl who was the absolute best, very personable and we felt assured with her guidance.
