Extremely unsafe, unprofessional and hostile experience
Our experience with Better Fares was nothing short of appalling. The bus arrived over an hour late with little communication or apology. The driver actually blocked the organisers number when she went to contact him, even though the bus had been confirmed the evening prior. When it did finally show up, the driver drove dangerously and did not know where he was going—stopping in the middle of the road with oncoming traffic multiple times, putting everyone at risk and also getting directions from members of our party who were in the front with him, a bit ridiculous for an ‘experienced driver’.
When we raised concerns about the delay and the unsafe driving, the company refused to take any responsibility. Instead, they falsely accused members of our group of being drunk and obnoxious, an outrageous and completely untrue claim. No one in our party was intoxicated, and this baseless accusation was both offensive and defamatory.
To make matters worse, they promised a partial refund due to the delay and poor service, but then refused to honor it when asked. Since then, they have escalated the situation into what can only be described as a campaign of harassment against our trip organiser.
So while yes we availed of the service both to and from Glasgow on the day in question, we were not delivered in an acceptable manner. The dash cam footage the company is refusing to disclose proves all of the above.
I would strongly advise anyone considering using this company to think twice. Their service was not only unreliable and unsafe, but their response to legitimate complaints was hostile and unprofessional.
Every single complaint has a similar response, the company takes no liability for their actions and makes up false claims. Accusing people of being intoxicated and/or taking illegal substances seems to be their go-to excuse for everything.
It is very clear to see from past reviews that our experience was not a stand alone one. Use this company at your own risk and definitely wear your seatbelt if you value your life.

Our experience with the company was not off to a good start when the hired bus did not show up on time, and had blocked phone numbers when we tried to contact them. Eventually the company claimed there had been a miscommunication and our transport would arrive, but an hour later than scheduled. They were apologetic and offered a partial refund which we accepted. We had a tight timeline planned for the day but had built in time for delays, but this was exacerbated following the driver picking us up and driving to a location to stop and then put on sat nav. We were then late.
Our journey in was fairly pleasant and the driver was nice enough, though shared some concerning opinions. His driving however was erratic, and he came to a complete stop on the motorway as he had missed his exit (even though we all assured him both exits went the same way).
We contacted the driver and asked if our return journey could be brought forward as we were all tired, and two of our party members were pregnant. This was agreed and we all went to the location where the driver was nowhere to be seen. We eventually found him and again he was apologetic but the drive home was terrifying. We came to a complete stop on main roads and reversed back into oncoming traffic on two separate occasions, we were taking blind corners at speed. We ended up having satnav open on our phones because we kept going the wrong way, and we were all a bit on edge. Cars overtook us shouting obscenities at the driver because of his dangerous driving. Even still we all thanked the driver when we got off and laughed it off as we had at least made it back alive. We all agreed to brush it off as a partial refund had been offered, and the driver was pleasant enough and chatty with those in the front, despite his deeply concerning views on the LGBTQ+ community, Covid vaccines and women.
Now the company have gone back on their word, refusing a refund, and have disputed the claims stating we were all intoxicated and abusive and have made this all up. If you look at every negative review they've said the same thing in response. Avoid at all cost.

Avoid at all costs – unprofessional, unsafe, and deeply concerning experience
I was part of a hen party on April 12th that used this company for a return minibus trip. Despite the driver confirming the booking the night before, he simply didn’t show up at the agreed time. When the organiser tried to contact him, he blocked her number. It was only after contacting the company directly—an hour later—that he finally arrived. We were told a partial refund would be given due to the delay (thankfully we weren’t heading to a wedding), but that was the least of our concerns.
The driver didn’t know where he was going and had to pull over to input details into the sat nav midway through the journey. He also proceeded to express extremely concerning views about misogyny and transphobia.
We felt endangered by the driving on the way home, due to stopping on the motorway, swerving across junctions, taking bizarre back routes, and twice reversing into oncoming traffic on a main road.
There are 15 witnesses, and dash cam footage, which are evidence of all of the above. This wasn’t just a poor experience—it was unsafe and completely unacceptable.

We had booked to use this service in April for a return service. Not only was the driver over an hour late, when we called the office to complain, the office advised that they could not contact the driver. They asked for us to contact the driver ourselves and ask him to call his own office. On the return journey we had to walk and find him as he was, once again, lost
The driver went the wrong way, stopped on the motorway and stopped multiple times to reverse into coming traffic after missing turns.
We had been promised a partial refund which has since been declined due to our "inappropriate" behaviour. We thanked the driver when we left despite the terrible experience.
The abuse noted in the company's response may have been the other driver who stopped to swear at the driver after he reversed into oncoming traffic. Certainly not from our group.

Firstly, they double booked and then didn't answer the phone so were an hour late on the way there. Then he also got lost on the way back. He stopped on the off ramp of the M8, because he missed his turn off. Stopped in traffic twice on the way back to reverse because he missed the turn off.
My review was flagged when I typed out his outdated and frankly odd views that he described in detail on both journeys which tells you all you need to know about how inappropriate they were.
When refusing the partial refund due to being so late, they have said our group were overly intoxicated and abusive, we literally shook hands as we got off the bus, and he told us it had been a pleasure. I know what his kids do, what his wife does, I know that he is semi- retired and lives down the road from the pub. I know what he did as past jobs, and that he is having trouble in his garden. All because we were chatting. But this was the overly intoxicated group who were abusive. bearing in mind we had pregnant members of the group.
We collectively decided not to leave reviews, until they have come back with all the weird lies. Ultimately, despite his odd views, John was actually very pleasant, and seemed genuinely embarrassed by his multiple missed turns and dangerous manoeuvres. He seemed like a nice guy who should maybe hang up the driving hat, and air his views with his mates down the pub, not in a professional environment.
However the company has escalated this beyond all sensible and appropriate levels.
Also, it was Johns 70th birthday the next day, the trip ended with us all wishing him a happy birthday.
What a strange experience, and what an odd set of lies. I can see from multiple previous reviews from other groups that this is a bit of a pattern - dangerous driving, which when challenged is labelled as lies from a drunk group of abusive passengers. They have threatened legal action for our reviews. Frankly I hope they do go that far as I can only say that the dash cam footage will provide solid entertainment in court with the near misses and bizarre conversations, however I can only assume they will "lose" the footage that they say they have reviewed prior to that point.
15 phone calls were made in a very short time frame when the first reviews went up from our trip, which I can only describe as unhinged and harassing behaviour from this "professional" company.

Avoid
The company are, frankly, shambolic. Their business practices are very concerning and appear to involve threats of legal action and false accusations about the behaviour of anyone who responds negatively to them.
We hired a coach in April this year from Buchlyvie to Glasgow, and details were confirmed the night before regarding the driver. On the day of the event, the driver did not show up for over an hour. While waiting, we made several attempts to contact the driver who had blocked the number of the event organiser. The telephone operator apologised at the time and offered a partial refund, which the company are now refusing to provide.
During the drives to and from Glasgow, the driver at various points - stopped on the motorway as he had missed the junction, stalled on a motorway, missed the junction on 2 separate occasions and reversed on a main road into oncoming traffic, left his full beam on for the entire journey, and took time to disparage vaccines and trans people in between a horrendous display of driving.
The company have now gone back on their promise to provide a partial refund for the delays, and the additional stress. They also claim that they have no evidence of this dangerous driving, despite the fact that a dash camera was in operation throughout the entire journey which would easily evidence all of the above.
In relation to the company’s response -
The initial complaint about the driver’s conduct was was made very shortly after the initial journey (15th April), and the company advised that they were “truly sorry to hear about the unsafe driving behaviour and navigation issues you experienced. This feedback has been shared with our management team to ensure that corrective actions are taken.”. Despite this, they are now claiming that no concerns were raised prior to these reviews. A dash cam was in operation throughout the entire journey, and any investigation would clearly identify the behaviours referenced in our reviews and refute the untrue allegations about our conduct,
None of our party were excessively drunk, and none engaged in abusive or disrespectful behaviour whatsoever - in fact, two members of our party were pregnant and sober throughout the entire day.
At no point during communications with the driver did we agree to an earlier pick up in lieu of a partial refund. In fact, the driver advised that was preferable for him as he couldn’t see well in the dark while driving.
I think it’s clear from previous reviews that the company are determined to avoid taking accountability for the poor service provided.
The company have changed your own position several times throughout the complaint process - initially stating there was no promise of a refund, then advising that there might have been the promise of a refund but it was based on certain conditions, then accepting that there had been an agreement to a partial refund but it wasn’t confirmed as there needed to be further internal reviews done.
Overall, a shambles of a company, and I can’t emphasise enough how much I would encourage people not to use them.
As an update, the company has now phoned me 22 times over 7 hour period, despite requests not to due to harassing behaviour.

The worst NEVER USE
Very poor service from the team at better fares if the agent was anywhere near me I would literally be in prison because of the bad service and then charging me extra for waiting time when they had flight details the agent was rallying bad he goes the name of Zia but this company is a fraud they try to cancel your booking and make you rebook for more money

Our driver arrived at the airport on time and waited for 2 hours and 30 minutes—well beyond the standard waiting period—without any additional charges, even though the flight was delayed and no one informed us in advance. In fact, the driver had to pay out of pocket for the extended parking time and remained on-site solely out of goodwill and professionalism.
Your statement that we were not cooperative is categorically false. We acted with full integrity and responsibility—not for your sake, but for the passengers who were left stranded due to your failure to communicate or show up. You did not even contact our team or the passengers, and you clearly took money from them as a broker and left them to fend for themselves.
To be perfectly honest, this is nothing short of exploitation. You took payment from the passengers and then abandoned them at the airport with no direct contact or support. We stepped in and dispatched our own driver, ensuring the group was picked up safely, and again, we did this without charging any extra fees—even though you, not us, failed to manage the booking properly.
Your aggressive threats, defamatory language, and baseless accusations only serve to highlight your unprofessional conduct. You are attempting to damage the reputation of a business that went above and beyond to clean up your mess and support customers that you failed.
We have records, time stamps, communication logs, and driver reports to back every word of this response. If you continue to spread lies or defame our business, we will not hesitate to pursue legal action.

Unsure how to get across just how frightening our experience was!!!
Some of our party have left a review already that has had some form of backlash, blaming our "behaviour " for the way the driver was unable to correctly and safely adhere to the highway code!!!!
We were happy and excited, of course...we were looking forward to celebrating our friends birthday. But intoxicated, absolutely not!!! How dare you assume as adults, that we are unable to enjoy a civilised night amongst friends....assuming anyone needing a minibus must be of a certain mindset with bad intentions!
I wont go into detail of the drivers MANY near accidents or why we all made the decision that coming back late at night, with even more difficult driving conditions just wasn't something we were comfortable or confident in doing.
There are other in depth reviews from our party on here already, highlighting them all.... i will though say that as adults able to make desicions based on being clear headed at the time, that coming back with this company/ driver would of left us feeling on edge all night!
You have every right to reply to your reviews, but with the correct information! Your response was filled with literal lies....
We tried to call the number for the office whilst on the journey and it was a number "not in use". Maybe i can suggest that next time, the driver has someone he can call? We would of dealt with you directly if we had the chance. Then you would of had the full story and this could of been handled differently.
Threatening with court and police proceedings is ridiculous. We have every right to protect ourselves and stay safe.

On the evening in question, you were clearly in an impaired state, having consumed an excessive amount of alcohol prior to boarding the bus. Your inebriated behavior was completely unacceptable, as you acted in a disruptive and disrespectful manner towards the driver, who has dutifully and responsibly operated these routes for the past 20 years in full compliance with all relevant rules and regulations. Not only did you fail to compensate the driver for the fare, but you also callously spilled your alcoholic beverages throughout the vehicle, leaving behind a foul, lingering odor and a messy, unsanitary environment for the next passengers. When the driver rightfully requested that you pay the remaining amount, you arrogantly fled the scene, abandoning all responsibility and leaving the driver to wait fruitlessly for your return for two hours. Your despicable actions have now necessitated potential legal action, as well as the potential for narcotics-related charges to be filed against you. Your complete disregard for common decency and flagrant disrespect for the driver and public property is utterly deplorable and will not be tolerated.

Unfortunately unable to leave zero stars. I didn't make this booking but was a passenger with a group of 14. The minibus picked us up from Bingley train station and within 2 minutes of departing we knew the driver was a danger, not only to us but others on the road. He immediately ran a red light, then a few minutes later missed the turning to the bypass as was in the incorrect lane. Contrary to the response received on the bookers review, it's quite puzzling to understand a driver who has done these routes for so many years can be so unsure on his direction to the M606 from a major town.
A number of other red lights were ran through with the driver completely oblivious, his lane awareness almost caused multiple collisions. How we arrived in one piece is beyond me.
The driver was spoken to on arriving and we rightfully insisted on a suitable refund about as we would NOT be getting in the vehicle for our return journey, it would be fantastic to see any substantiated evidence for the companies claim of the taxi waiting around for us for two hours after we were meant to return! Although the guy was that unaware of anything else I wouldn't be surprised if he waited around like an idiot. Probably didn't want to return to base so that his lies would be believed?
Absolutely appalling company. Do not trust. Do not book.

Booked to go to Homlfirth from Bingley and despite the reply review the company has left we hadn't had a single drink prior to boarding the bus....or drugs -_- bear in mind this is a minibus with an average age of 40.....the driver made illegal u turns, ran several red lights, made wrong turns and cut off several cars and nearly caused several accidents.
The state of the bus was disgusting and looked to be falling apart the sat nav was old and couldn't be used.
We paid $400 and generally feared for our lives.
Once dropped off we asked for half of the money to be returned as we didn't feel comfortable going back with him, which we are well within our right to do so, he become enraged and aggressive.
Do yourself a favour and book elsewhere. We booked taxi back with a different company and turned out to be much cheaper!
Contacted the company and they just made false allegations and slander against us. Disgusting attitude. Happy to take your money with no regard to your life.

Was booked on a party from Bingley to Holmfirth all I can say is OMG we were all lucky to survive the journey. Ran a red light straight out of the pick up car park, couldn't use the satnav at all, convinced he couldn't see very well, ran a further 3 red lights was swerving between lanes, didn't know what an indicator was for, nearly cut up 2 cars did u turns in a dual carriageway. Barely missed an exit by veering over the slip road chevrons. We tried to tell him to turn off his satnav and we would direct him but he was just saying we were distracting him. We refused to arrange a home pickup as we feared the drive home in the dark was more dangerous. Would not recommend this driver to anyone

We booked a minibus from bingley to holmfirth on the 28th September
The bus was falling to bits, the driver was about 85 years old and I'm convinced he couldn't even see.
He didn't know how to work the satnav, ran 4 red lights and nearly took out numerous cars on the road not to mention the illegal U turns he kept doing.
Pick up was supposed to be at 11.30 pm he wanted to collect at 10.30 so he could get home!!!!!
We kindly asked for half the money back so we could pay for Ubers as we genuinely FEARED FOR OUR LIVES!!! - He then got quite aggressive about it saying we had distracted him the whole way ( how I don't know as non of us were even drinking)
We refused to get off the bus untill he gave us our money back - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU WANT TO LIVE
