My olympus needed a new flex cable. A simple job as I understand it, so simple in fact that it seems many people brave the soldering iron themselves. However, I am a coward and decided that a professional would be able to fix it easily with no risk to my equipment. I came across Camera Repair Direct and knew instantly these were my people. Wes instantly gave me a quote, at a fair price and when I dropped off the camera in his office I could tell this was man was the real McCoy. Wes' office was like a temple of photographic equipment, a Noah's Ark of cameras and it appeared every model or component ever produced was present. Surely a faulty screen was child's play to somebody of this calibre. And so it proved. The repair was completed within a day and I must say it was refreshing how direct and simple the whole process was. I will certainly be using Camera Repair Direct again for any repair needs.

An overall fantastic experience, Wes was very prompt in supplying a quote to replace the screen of my camera. I sent it off via special delivery, I had confirmation that it had been received the next day and within a few days it was already fixed and ready to be sent back to me. Received it back today in brilliant condition, with the screen replaced and all working well. Thoroughly impressed with the service and will be recommending to others - thank you!

After a year of camera shops telling us our Panasonic compact zoom camera couldn’t be fixed and a replacement would be $$$, we sent it in to Wes, hoping something could be done but expecting the worst. A failed fix attempt would still be a fraction of a replacement cost so it was well worth the risk. Today our camera has come back, a few weeks later, looking, sounding and behaving as a brand new camera. We couldn’t be happier or more thankful and were going to send our second camera for a makeover until Wes advised spares are not available for that model. We can’t recommend these guys highly enough.

The service provided by Camera Repair Direct was second to none. They answered my initial message within hours, gave me the best instructions possible about repairing my Canon lens and the estimate for the repairs was exactly what they quoted. My lens was back and fully repaired within days. They were so good repairing my lens that I also sent them my Canon camera. The quotes for repairing this camera I had been given previously were not cost effective. However Camera Repair Direct have also repaired this camera at a fraction of these previous quotes. Both are now working perfectly.

Excellent fast service from Wes. The repair to my P900 cost less than half that charged by Nikon for exactly the same repair two years ago. The turnaround was less than half the time taken by Nikon. He took the trouble to explain what the issues were with P900s - gearing too light for the heavy lens. It doesn't cope well with impacts!
Thoroughly recommended.

My overall experience of using Camera Repair Direct (CRD) has been second to none.

After my Sony A7Rii ceased to function with custom function buttons and shutter doing less than an ice cube in a desert, I tried my luck and contacted CRD on the 15/05/2023.

From speaking with Wes he assumed the problem was with the microchip ceasing to function and thus I sent my unit on route to CRD. However, before even putting the unit in the post, Wes had informed me over email he had requested the replacement parts from Sony.

Despite the valiant efforts of those at CRD, the inside of my camera had been substantially breached by moisture akin to the battle of Helms Deep.

Even with the replacement parts, it would have been impossible for the team at CRD to repair the camera. They informed me of this in the most stoic manner with perfect beside language.

However dear reader, the story does not end there. I was given a few options.... Having the team return the kaput at a slight cost, them disposing of the unit for free, or the alternative of having the camera parts exchanged for a new A7Riii with me having to pay the excess of £1200 (including tax).

Needless to say, I was flabbergasted with such a positive result. As of 23/06/2023 I now own a new A7Riii and have felt indebted & compelled to write this review.

Wes, has been a true gentleman throughout the process, listening to my concerns and quite frankly being honest and genuine. I felt that CRD truly felt guilty at being unable to fix my camera, and pursued every alternative to get a functioning unit back to me.

Overall I'm sold on returning to be a customer with Camera Repair Direct, the service is truly impeccable. The team has earned themselves a customer for life.

Good communications throughout. My Nikon S7000 had a zoom lens that was jammed. The repair was carried out in a prompt and efficient manor. The camera being returned by tracked Royal Mail postage. I am very pleased with the work done and would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone else.

The flash on my Fuji Finepix was no longer working and although I could have purchased another camera online I specifically wanted to have this one repaired due to sentimental reasons.
I came across Camera Repairs Direct and received a very reasonable quote and I eventually got around to sending the camera away.
Despite initial reservations about sending it I was soon very pleased with the outstanding service and repair.
Wes and his team are excellent and I would reccomend them 100% for their diligence, honesty and quality repairs. Something nowadays you may struggle to find.

My repair was estimated to take around 2-3 weeks but it was done and delivered back to me in 4 working days. It was repaired to excellent quality (my SD card holder had broke) and I was given an SD card free of charge which I am grateful for. There was constant communication all the way through. I posted my camera in a make-shift gift box with lots of random wrapping but it was posted back in way better packaging + the original gift box.
I paid £168 which was a fraction of what other companies had quoted me.

Wes is a very decent honest and genuine trader. Great communications. Diagnosed my issue over the phone and provided quote. Upon inspection further faults were discovered and repair would be uneconomic due to cost of parts. Wes took no payment for the work already done in trying to repair the camera and only took payment for return postage. Very impressed with this business and will be my first port of call for future camera repairs due to their honest outlook.

Poor repair. Sent my Canon EOS R6 for repair, they received it on the 15/6/2022, it came back on the 9/7/2022. Sadly, my camera wasn't fixed, if anything it was slightly worse than it started off. From their very first set of emails, alarm bells should have been ringing, as they talked about 'replacing the mirror-box' obviously mirrorless camera's don't have a 'mirror-box' they said this was just a mistake in technical terminology. But i felt right from the start and still do, that they literally had absolutely no clue of the repair my R6 needed. They have offered me the chance to send the camera back, but its ridiculous sending a camera back to a company that couldn't repair it in the first place. As they clearly still don't understand what's wrong with my camera, so i won't be sending it back or using this company again, i also won't be recommending them to anyone else. I am very disappointed. Camera Repair Direct says we don't know what else to do apart from you sending the R6 back for us, to try again. Really? So they couldn't think of anything else, no other choice? At no point have they offered me a refund or even a partial refund of the repair bill, after all they haven't fixed it and there is no evidence they ever will be able to fix it, based on their email replies. So in the end Camera Repair Direct have been paid for a service they couldn't achieve, repairing my camera. This simply isn't good enough or ethical.

I have waited to post this review until I had a chance to put my camera and lens through it's paces on a 2-week trip to Switzerland to absolutely check it was OK - it was.

I cannot recommend Camera Repair Direct (CRD) highly enough. After a quote of £870 to repair my Canon 24-20mm f/2.8 lens and generally service my Canon 5D Mk 3 from a London based company, I was reeling as I simply could not afford that. I had a Google and discovered CRD and emailed Wes Davies with the detail of the faults that the other company had told me - he quoted £220 subject to checking it out himself. I was somewhat worried that this now sounded too cheap! I hand delivered my kit and collected, although he normally receives cameras and lens by courier. He pulled out all the stops, repaired and serviced my lens and camera in less than a week (I had a tight deadline) and informed me that one of the parts the other company had wanted to repair was perfectly ok.

Camera Repair Direct (in particular Wes Davies) is excellent. He is professional, fair and honest and very good at fixing cameras! I will not be looking anywhere else in the future.
